I have totally fallen off the wagon!! I have been eating everything in sight!! Xmas eve I ate 4 Fried and breaded Scallops, Cookies, and then on New Years eve I ate rice and Beans, stuffing, candy, a cookie and a piece (or 2) of pepperoni Bread!! WHAT HAVE I DONE?? I feel like such a failure not to mention how the hell can I fit all of this food in? That is what amazes me!! I feel like I have no self control....I had a fill about 3 weeks ago and in the beginning it was good...but now I am out of control. I think sometimes I eat out of boredom!!! PLEASE PLEASE someone shed some light on this situation for me. My normal day consists of 3 meals a day and I do snack in betwee (which I would like to stop) My nutritionist does not want me to eat any bread, rice or Pasta for a while.......Please give me some Ideas!! I think I need a fill but not sure if it is too early -- going to the doctor on Jan 8th -- sorry for the rambling on!!

Any advice would be great!! Thanks again!!!

I'm thinking you may need to go in for an adjustment. At the same time, no amount of fills can stop us from eating "around" our bands. It's hard... Really hard. Don't beat yourself up for making a mistake, but get back on track ASAP. I would suggest writing a meal plan for the next couple of weeks and tracking. Something about seeing what you are eating down on paper makes you think twice about what you put into your body. Get rid of all trigger foods in your house. Make sure you're getting exercise 5 days a week, even if its just walking. Tomorrow is a fresh start!

They put curves/bends in freeways to keep drivers awake. Think of this as a bend in your highway that has woken you up. Now you know how close you came to crashing out you can refocus and concentrate on staying on track from here on in.

Good luck. You can do this.

Natalie gives great advice, as you can tell from her ticker she is another success weight loss story on this forum. Now, for starters you have to keep in mind that the band does not keep you from over eating, you do! The band keeps us feeling satisfied on less food. We can not go over a cup of food per meal. We must track everything we put into our mouths to be successful. Most everyone I know on this site TRACKS everything. I firmly believe this is what makes us all accountable for what we eat and put into our bodies.

Cleaning house, you know what that means? If you feel it will sabatoge, throw it out and don't bring it in. Keep healthy alternative Snacks in the house. I purposely look for delish Snacks that are low in calories/carbs just for those moments. You don't have to deprive yourself really, its all about self control. I have learned this through my journey. I too have ate Cookies over the holidays, but I stopped after 2. That was it! When I felt I couldnt' deal to see it in the house anymore, I litterally made phone calls and gave it away, and the last of it got thrown away. Its just not worth it!

Holidays are over, officially! Its a new day, a new year! You lost 39 lbs, and that is a great start! Believe in yourself, want it, want it sooo bad enough to make this work for you, because YOU are the only one that can do this for you.....

((hugs))

Well said, Patty girl!!

Anj, don't beat yourself up too bad. I think it's commendable you can come on here and say "Hey, I made a mistake, help me". I'm only 13 days post op and I so badly want to cheat, but when I see that scale go down, it makes rethink my dinner. I try to stay full or satisfied so that I couldn't eat my husband's pizza if I wanted to.

You can do this, I know you want it bad enough or you wouldn't have gotten the band in the first place. 39 pounds is great!!! Keep up the good work :)

Everyone has handled the eating part well so I'll make suggestions about " I think sometimes I eat out of boredom".

Don't let yourself get bored, clean closets, drawers, cabinets, take walks, bubble baths, find a good book, hang out here, do anything to keep your mind and hands busy.

You have done very well and you can again.

You can do this!

Wow everyone answered so eloquently and thouroughly, so i guess there's not much more for me to say!

But, just remember, this is all part of the journey. Don't let the hiccups get you down, force them to bring you higher!

You got this, girl!!

I use My fitness pal. It is a free site that allows you to document all the foods that you eat daily. You just enter the food you ate and how much and it will calculate the numbers for you. You make up a profile of how many calories, fat, carbs ect... that you want daily. It is an awesome site. If you have a smart phone you scan the bar code on your phone like at the grocery store andit enters it. If you like to keep a journal you also have the option to print your daily summaries. I have totally been there too. The fact that you recognized it and decided to take action means that you have climbed back onto the wagon. I agree that you have already proven that you can loose weight just keep moving forward and watch that scale go down. Good luck I know you will get back on track.

I have recently fallen off the wagon as well. It kind of started for me at thanksgiving. This week I started back with tracking what I eat on a phone app. I am also exercising again. I am down 2 lbs of the 5 I gained back as of this morning. It is frustrating to backslide, but we just have to pick up and move on. I also am trying to go back to staying away from the bread and rice. To help curb my hunger I have added back Protein shakes as Snacks when I feel hungry. Good luck!

I have been going through the same exact thing, somehow I only gained 3 pounds! Today is the day I got BACK on the wagon, but I want to eat, I feel like I'm starting over again. It's crazy how all those terrible foods just slide right down. Back to counting calories and Protein for me, logging my food and exercise always seems to help, but I got away from it the last few weeks and I stayed pretty far away from the gym too! We can do this!!!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
