Looking at Protein Shakes. Any of y'all tried Unjury chicken Soup flavored? Thinking about getting some.

Unjury brand is pretty good.

It's really good and comforting. Trick is to pour a little bit of room temperature Water on it, mix good, then add hot water. If not it does not mix. Took me two tries to get it right.

Ok, not too be gross but I want to talk about 1st poop after surgery:) lol my sister told me her 1st poop was "EPIC" first a hard plug of poo came out after pushing like she was giving birth and then the test came flooding out and she felt a zillion times better... Tonight, a day after my surgery I finally passed some gas and my tummy hurt so bad, I felt something trying to come out and a pushed, and almost cried for an hour (afraid I was gonna pop my glue stitches) and finally a couple little balls came out..I feel better but there's more stuck in my stomach:( I want the sweet release my sister experienced:( Any similar experiences fellow October Bansters? Advice? Sincerely, S.O.L

I took half of a dulcolax and the next day everything was great!

Stupid Question: Can we wear panties during surgery? Lol

I was made to wear disposable underwear during the surgery and then could put my own on after.

I am on Day 4 post surgery and I haven't had any #2 business yet, I was mostly just drinking fluids because eating didnt sound good at all, since Wed. morning I sipped on a Protein shake(body by vi) mixed with skim milk and Sugar Free Chocolate pudding and I just finally finished it today. between wed-sat I also had 1 ensure clear, 1 container of sugar free jell-o, and 1 sugar free popsicle. but just this afternoon, I made cream of potato Soup and had a few bites. felt good to eat something warm that wasnt sugar free sweet flavored :)

as of today from presurgery on I am down 35 lbs.

Does anyone know if there is a reason for the food limits? Do they restrict us to creamy liquids to keep from damaging the band or is it because our stomachs can only handle so much without being nauseous? I have been able to eat thing a little more filling, like a small portion of hamburger helper and i am 9 days out now. I get a little more gas, but no nausea. If I have to go back to strict liquids i can, but I seem to be ok.

Any input?

Your doctor should have given you strict directions as to what you can eat and when. I am 11 days out and on liquids but not all clear. I can have strained cream Soups, sugar free pudding, Jello, smooth yogurt... I will be starting pured foods on tuesday. Farina, cream of wheat, soft cooked eggs, pured veggies, also pured meat. My list from the nutritionist is very detailed and date specific. Even if your dr didn't give you clear directions...you should not be eating hamburger helper anyway...too much fat and sodium. Please get to you dr and talk to them. I would hate to see you start your journey going backwards. please keep us informed.

I'm 30 days full liquid diet, then 2wks mushies.

I can't imagine eating anything heavier. Believe it or not liquid is really heavy on me.

When your stomach is healing, which can take 4-6wks. Dr does not want stomach churning to digest solid food. It can cause a problem.

But every Dr is different, so follow your Dr instruction to be successful!

Best wishes!

You may be hitting it too hard. I'm 2 weeks post op. I had a stall too! Things will move again, it's humanly impossible for it not to.

Please be careful with the exercise though. What type are you doing? If you are just walking then no prob but it sounds like you are gung-ho.

Just remember that your insides are still healing.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
