I guess I wanted to start dating again, 2 yrs after losing my husband of 19 yrs. I wanted to go out with "normal" guys - not "chubby chasers". Well, 3 yrs later, I've now been happily married for almost a yr! It worked!

I want to be able to go to a concert and not be so uncomfortable trying to keep all my fat in my own space. That would be nice!

I wanted to cross my legs when I sat..

I want to just open a draw and grab out a shirt and not worry is it long enough to cover my fat rolls and my butt

I wanted to feel happy and I wanted to feel like I was worth something...AND I'm well on my way...WE CAN DO THIS..

I want to be able to wear a two piece swimsuit the Water park with my daughter and not have to wear a plain black one piece with shorts over it. I want to shop for clothes somewhere else other than Lane Bryant. I want to feel good when I go out with my husband or girlfriends but more than anything I want my self confidence back!

I know a lot of people's number one reason for getting WLS is for health. I fully admit that mine isn't. So' date=' I'm curious -

What is your non-health related reason for wanting to get banded?

---

Mine is my husband. My Husband is 6'5, gorgeous, blonde hair, blue eyes, fit, well built, military man. I want to look good in fashionable clothes, I want to be curvy and feel feminine, and feel him be able to pick me up. I want to feel comfortable chasing after little ones so that he isn't doing all the work because I'm too winded or I'm not flexible enough in jeans.

I should clarify that my husband is amazing and loves and supports me no matter what my weight has been, but I can't help to feel as though I wish I were his trophy wife. Also, I don't think I'm ugly by any means, I think I'm pretty and I don't hate my body, I like it, it's looking better every day, but I want to love what I see.

I'm very interested in hearing what others have to say![/quote']

I love your post, and your right yes most of us want to do this for health issues, but there has to been some type of self fulfillment. I want to be able to go in the store and just get my size and not worry how it will look on me. Not worry if my fat rolls will be showing. Being able to feel comfortable in a swimsuit and not hiding from the camera on summer vacation. My hubby and I are going to Jamaica next summer and I have already picked out the swimsuit I want to be able to wear and I want to buy it in a size 6. I want to feel comfortable in my own skin. I love this thread!!!!!

I remember during my teens and 20s going shopping with my mother in stores that were divided between "ladies" sizes and "plus sizes" and during my many diets her commenting that soon I would be shopping over on the non-plus side of the store. Well, January of last year my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. They found it earlier than they do with most patients, but the survival rates for pancreatic cancer are not the best. Less than 5% make it 5 years. The cancer was gone for a while after treatment, but it's peaking back again now, so she's on bi-weekly chemo. She feels great and has a wonderful attitude, but I would love for my mom to finally see me in non-plus clothes.

I lost my mother, grandmother and grandson in 2009. I turned 50 in 2010 and decided it was time. Having been overweight my entire adult life I just wanted to be thin and healthy.I have never lacked confidence and have a successful career and marriage even tho I was a fat girl... Actually I never felt being fat hampered me in any way. But looking back it may have. I think I overcompensated for the fat by being smarter, funnier, the best at work etc....

I would be lying if I said that shopping for clothes and having an endless selection of cute outfits to wear isn't fun... It's a lot more fun then stretchy clothes and over shirts purchased from catalogs! And fitting into any chair, airline seat or bathroom stall makes me feel great. The fuss everyone makes about my weight loss is incredibly flattering....

My BMI went from 55 to 25. I can walk without sweating. I can climb more than 5 stairs without stopping. My blood pressure is normal. I am now in a size 10 on the bottom and 6-8 on the top. I am still happy...

But I really just did this because I wanted to know what life as a thin person felt like. So now I know and I can promise you I like it a lot better.

Because my husband told me how scared he was that he would lose me or I would become crippled due to my morbid obesity. I knew then that I had to do whatever it took to have a healthy life with this wonderful man.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
