Finally, Got Stuck And So Happy!

Recommended Posts

You know, I got on this site hoping to get answers from people just like me but instead of feeling comfortable, I am afraid of being honest or feeling like I am going to be judged if I make a mistake, ask a stupid question or make a comment about my experience so far with the band. Let's take this post for example, she says she is happy she got stuck and people act like she has lost her mind instead of educating her in a nicer way. She said she was eating tacos and she is made to feel like she committed a sin. She says she is going 70mph and suddenly the post is fake. Let's get real, if we are on here is because we all overate, ate the wrong things more frequently than not and probably didn't do much exercise so to make someone feel bad about their choices or comments is pretty hypocritical to me. It's not what you say more than how you deliver your message.

We are here to motivate and support each other not repremand or judge each other.

P.S: this is not meant for "all" who posted on here, only for some as well as others in other posts I've read.

I understand your point, but every word I've posted on this thread still stands, and I'm going to add a few more.

If you think the response to this thread was harsh, you ain't seen nothin' yet. I can direct you to another online band forum frequented by people with the consideration and sensitivity of Attila the Hun.

Also, when interpreting and reacting to posts on any online forum, keep in mind that these are people you may never meet in person. You can't hear their tone of voice or see their body language, so you have to decipher words that are, in a sense. out of context. My best friend, whose honesty I cherish, can say things to me that would make me smack another person for saying, because I know she loves me and wants the best for me.

Finally, consider the possibility that "tough love" sometimes does us more good than coddling when we're headed down a bad road.

Hi Jean...my bff is also very stern with me and honest but, that's someone I've known for many years. However, I can tell you that there are some things I choose not to tell her at times because her honesty can make me feel bad or worse.

I don't think that honesty is bad, I think its what or how you say it more than what you say. If it was that simple for us to make better food choices, stop when we know we are full and exercise then we wouldn't have gotten the band because we could do it on our own. Maybe she has been eating healthy and she decided to treat herself with a taco, I see nothing wrong with that. But, if an opinion is given I don't think it should be delivered to that person as if they were committing a crime. Simply explaining she shouldn't be eating a taco should suffice. Also, calling someone a liar??? Definitely not something I personally find ok to do.

Just because people do it or there are forums that are worse doesn't make it any better.

You said what you said and stand by it and that's ok as it is how you feel just the way I feel how I feel and said what I said.

I can't control how people comment to others posts but felt the need to mention that a little filtering could go a long way.

Thanks for your reply.

I think this can be a harsh place considering that we were all a bunch of fatties. Filtering can be useful.

Well, we're in agreement about that, anyway. Unfortunately good communication skills are not required of LBT members.

That's quite true, but I mentioned the other, harsher forum because if someone here is thinking of leaving town (so to speak), I want to wish them the best of luck in finding a friendlier neighborhood.

I am sorry that I may have hurt some feelings. But, I know there are trolls on all forums. I just know that my body would have reacted a whole lot different if I am stuck and in the car. Most of the time, you can not control a pb, and washing it down does little good. It will come up of its own accord, believe me!!!!Best wishes, as I said before. Karen

I know exactly what you mean. I was beginning to think there was something wrong because I could eat anything. After my second fill, I finally had some things get stuck. I was almost relieved. At least now I know that things are making progress.

It looks like some comments you just need to overlook.

I totally understand how you feel. I've had my band almost 3 yrs now and recently had a slip. After my unfill/refill, I haven't vomited at all (I guess thats good). It's been a couple of months. I was just telling my husband the other day that when I vomited, I realized that the band was working. Now it doesn't feel that it's working (even tho I'm pretty much keeping what I lost off). I know that the band is still working cuz I'm full on a small amt of food still - but never vomit.

It's still nice to be reminded that our bands are working - in a physical way!

Same here! I told my doctor on the 3rd Fill that I was sad because I hadn't thrown up yet, and I really wanted too. But I then explained I just wanted to know that it was working because I hadn't felt restriction yet.

The throwing up is not the worst part of getting stuck, it is the incredible pain that comes with it.

I have not been banded yet, but I have had a stuck situation with Red Yeast Rice for cholesterol. It took 3 mths to figure out that was what was causing it. Truly I wanted to kill myself it was so painful. I told Bariatric Dr about it and he said "yep, that 's what it feels like". I will do everything in my power not to do that!!!

Just my 2 cents worth!

Best wishes to you!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
