You're going to the doctor, so don't think about it until you see him. Need to focus on other things. For those back at work. I've been taking 15 minutes in the morning and afternoon and going into a quiet space room and resting on my side. It has made a big difference in my stamina and any gas pains I have had. I also try to walk around the floor a couple of times both morning and afternoon.

You never know.

I can see a change in my face as well. Not quite as round as it was. I am down about 23 pounds since the beginning of my preop diet, Sept 1. That is a lot of weight to lose in one month!! I am having all kinds of NSVs. Back in jeans for the first time in forever. I had refused to buy any larger AGAIN after ridding myself of the 24s and above the last time I lost it. So I just had to wait to get back in my 22s that I outgrew this time last year. My shirts that were tight are beginning to get a bit too lose as well. I love this part of losing weight. Also, I am finding it easier to shower and can reach parts of myself that had needed assistance. I may just retire the back brush in a few more pounds. that may be TMI, but it is a real NSV in my book.

I know exactly what you mean! Clothes that I had put away in a box because they didnt fit anymore are starting to fit! Im so excited :) I have TONS of clothes that I kept from my "skinny days" & I cant wait to start fitting into them. Not only that, I had a bad habit of buying clothes that didnt fit me because I was always on a diet & thought I would lose the weight. We're talking brand new clothes with the tags still on! I have a whole new wardrobe waiting for me & its nice that I can look at them at know that I will be fitting in them soon instead of just hoping!

Congrats on your weight loss! Lets keep it up & get rid of the back brush:)

Just had my one week post-op appointment. I am down 12 pounds since my surgery date and my surgeon recommended I go see my primary care physician to get off of my blood pressure medication. I may only be a week out, but deciding to have this surgery has been the best decision I have ever made! Now to get off of the diabetes medications!

I still have pain around the port area too. Banded on the 13th. Went to have my staples out on Wednesday and the nurse said that is usual because of the tiny incision across from my large incision - those two put a stress on the muscles and pull on them. I have 6 incisions because I had an extra 1 for the hiatal hernia repair during the same surgery. The swelling continues to go down so this bubble on my tummy is deflating! I'm hurting more today because my husband is gone hunting and I'm here with my father in law. I had to do a lot for him - up and down the stairs at least 20 times- boy I'm sore today. Plus my granddaughter spent the night too - she's 3 yrs old. I know I have to push myself and doing that I'll be tired and possibly hurt but it helps in the healing process too.

I was banded on Sept 12th. I STILL have pain in my port area. Is anyone else still having pain there? It has been 2 1/2 weeks and I just thought it would feel better by now. I did have my 2 week post op appt and she felt around my belly and said everything was felt good in there. Just frustrating.....

Hi All! I'm so happy right now that I'd be dancing on the ceiling if I only could! I had not acknowledged to anyone that after surgery I was running a low grade fever, so my dr ordered a chest x-ray to make sure I had not gone into pneumonia. The radiologist called to tell me that it was abnormal, and my lymph nodes were enlarged. Put this on top of the fact that they had to do a liver biopsy when they did my surgery because my liver function tests were high and the fact that my father was diagnosed with a lymphoma when he was six months older than I am now - and I was seriously concerned about my health.

So, yesterday morning I had to have a chest CT, and went to my two week post op appt with my surgeon yesterday afternoon. As I was walking in to my surgeon's office, the nurse for the radiologist called to tell me my CT was normal - I have nothing to worry about. That had my so excited that I had tears in my eyes I was so relieved. Then I went to my appt., and weighed myself - I'm down 10 lbs since surgery, so that brings me to a total of 35 lbs lost!!! I'm sure some of the stress I've had has helped my weight loss, so I'll be happy to settle down on slower weight loss without the added stress. Then I talked with my surgeon, and the liver biopsy showed a slightly fatty liver, which was the best of all possible outcomes there. He said it will go back to normal quickly just with my healthier eating and the band. And for the last bit of good news, I can go to mushies!!! I need to do mushies for a week or so, and then I can start adding thing back in slowly as I can tolerate them!! He said to give the mushies a couple of days before I try ground meats, and I thougt I was going to have to be on mushies for a month!!!

All in all, I can hardly focus on anything here at work today because of my relief and excitement, and I'm more committed and focused than ever on this journey!

I know the feeling, My 24s are becoming very loose, and my face is transforming. I love it. Also, I was in the mall yesterday, and totally passes up Milkshakes. I am proud of me. Loosing for good.

Had my first post op with surgeon today. Port is not infected. Im such a worry rat. Good thing is that the med asst that usually checks you in, does your vitals, weight, etc well she was running late so the nut did that. I got to chat with him for a bit. He said i am a little dehydrated. My pulse was a little high as well. Dr said i am doing beautifully. He wants me to increase my fluids. Its so hard bc i cant get much down at once and if i drink too much i feel bloated. He wants me to slowly transition to pureed foods. So still no refried Beans for another week :(. I did have some egg drop Soup at lunch. Omg....so good. He was proud of my weight loss. I was 230 at my first appt with him and today i was 202. My first goal is to get under 200. I am so close !! I dont go back to dr in a month and if i want a fill we can do it then. All in all, good visit. Im gonna keep on moving forward.

Got banded on Sept. 26. I am also having sharp pains near my port if I move suddenly or sneeze! It helps to brace my tummy with a pillow. Am also having a little bit of left shoulder pain, nothing too terrible.

My doctor said the healing process takes 6 weeks, some people hurt more than others, we are all different. I read on here people have have hardly any pain a couple of days after surgery but that wasn't me. So as you heal the pain will get better I promise!! I'm 17 days post op, still pain but every day is a little better - at least no pillow to cough now!! :)

Had surgery on the 27th and I'm still having shoulder pain. If it weren't for the gas pain i wouldnt need the liquid pain medicine. The incision pain isn't that bad. But I made a mistake and got on the scale. I havent lost an ounce in three days. That was disappointing. But oh well. I think my body thinks it's starving because I'm on Clear Liquids only so I'm only getting in about 250 calories a day.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
