Hello! This is my second post. I just found this site today. I had my surgery Oct. 12. I'm still on my liquid diet and ready for some food even if it is soft food!

I go see my surgeon tomorrow for my follow-up. I like him but I'm not crazy about my patient advocate. So we'll see how tomorrow goes.

rose1956, I had to have blood work, EKG, an EGD, which is a scope into your stomach to see if you have a hernia. I think that was it. Good luck to you

In final stretch as well...EGD is tomorrow at 9:00, this is the last thing on the agenda - I have a follow up appointment on Thursday - I guess I will get my surgery date at that time. I have been posting here in the October Bandsters but after talking a bit with the centers scheduling secretary last week; it sounds like I might be an early November Bandster possibly my Bday 11/11 especially if I go with my preferred hospital, we'll see on Thursday I guess - taking it one day at a time. When is your day?

Banded yesterday. Great team and great hospital (Jersey Shore), was in at 5:30 for 7:30 surgery. I was on my way home by 1:00!

Felt great all day yesterday, today not so much.. but percocet is a big help.

I tried to work remotely this morning but I think I better give it a rest today. haha

Off to the couch..

Hello My October Bandsters!!!

Just wanted to share a victory with you all... Well I met my 1st goal... So about 3 wks I turned on my Wii game n went thru my past weigh-ins on Wii Fit. I was so shocked when I discovered that I was 42lbs lighter back in February 2011. blink.gif It sometimes seems so unrealistic that we can gain weight that fast. Well, on that same day 3wks ago when I wanted to see how much I had gained... so stepped on the Wii Fit Board & my heart sank when I was told I was over the weight limit for the Wii Board (330lbs maximum weight) & the computer asked me to step off the board. ohmy.gif

Well, I'm down 13.9lbs n the Wii Board is No Longer Rejecting Me!!! So excited!!! Might not seem like much but to me it was the best thing ever!!! So overly excited to finally be moving forward with-in my Journey #ThisIsOnlyTheBeginning Banane40.gif

Hi all,

I am getting very excited. Tomorrow is finally my day to join bandland. I never thought i would make it through this 2 week liquid diet. I did and I am so proud that I did not cheat (although, I was tempted beyond belief) I have never had so much bad food offered, handed to me, eaten in front of me, than I have had in the last 2 weeks. But I came through on the other side . I am stronger for it. I have built up some will power. I am truly ready for the change that is about to come. I want to say thank you to all of you that have shared your experience, questions, concerns thus far. It has been a huge help and relief to hear from others that are going through the same thing that you are at the same time. Noone else can truly appreciate and understand the process like you all. Best of luck to all upcoming bandsters.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
