Not watched the op on youtube... lol don't think I will until after mine lol.

Today is my last day to take hormones before my surgery. They want me to stop 2 weeks before. So hello hot flashes! Ugh lol.

Just found out I'll be getting banded on October 19th. It all happened soooo fast, I just saw my surgeon for the first time last week on Sep 16th. This week I'm have my psych eval and cardio test. I'm excited and a little nervous but I know it's for the better.

Okay - I went to my pre-op class this morning. My diet seems quite different from everyone else. I have 2 shakes per day (I'm using Bariatric Advantage) and 2 SMALL, lean meals per day. No sugar, whole grains only and nothing fried. Those were basically the only restrictions.

I'm still scheduled for 10/5 and it sounds like I'm going to be the first one in line for that day, so I will have to be at the surgical center at like 6am.

Anyone here in the Houston area?

In regards to good tasting Protein - I got it OK'd by the nutritionist and the doctor to stick with my Slim Fast (Low Carb)... it has 20 grams Protein, and tastes pretty good. I also didnt mind the Gatorade G Series "3" Recover Protein Drink... 20oz bottle had 16g protein.

Also, I had my 1x1 today, and the Surgeon told me that the protein supplements are not mandatory in the least - she said that if you can get enough protein (i need 61g/day) through diet, then go for it... On a couple of my test days I've gotten up to slightly above my protein requirement... she also said that it's not completely necessary to hit the protein in the first two weeks after surgery (week one is liquid, week two is puree/mushy), since this is just about healing - it is good if you can get up to the right level, but more important to heal... I think that once i get onto soft and normal foods I will be able to do this easy, without the added supplements...

However, i am still testing flavors. I have found some so far that are truly horrible - and this is based on finger test alone (licking some powder off finger - haven't tried full drink yet) but so far MRM chocolate whey Protein (@ Mother's) isn't terrible, neither is Platnum Hydro whey strawberry.

The grossest so far have been the Jay Robb Egg White Protein (all flavors). Middle of the road is Met-Rx vanilla, but it seems like it will be the thickest drink - most powder by volume so far.

Good luck finding a protein, if that's your road.

Hi Everyone! I'm new to the thread. I have my consultation is Thursday 9/23 @ 8:30am, Psych Eval @ 11:00am and Nutritional Cons. @ 2:30pm all in one day  I talked to my insurance coordinator today and she said all I need now is my Letter of Medical Necessity and a Letter of Medical Clearance. I have a call into my PCP already so I'm waiting to hear back now. I have United Healthcare and am so excited. My insurance approval requirements were so easy. I didn't have to do the 6 month diet or anything like that. I'm hoping to have a surgery date of around 10/20. My mother in law watches my girls and she is having surgery on 10/4 and needs at least 10 days down time before I can rely on her to help me. I am SOOO looking forward to this! Good luck everyone!!

Day 1

I had a Protein Shake this morning with a few added strawberries. It was okay - didn't really satisfy me, but I think I can fix that with a few tweaks (a little vanilla extract). And I wasn't hungry at all through the morning.

Went to Chick-fil-a for lunch and had a chicken and fruit salad (22g Protein, but lots of carbs even without dressing). I thought that would be a healthy choice, but I guess it wasn't. But the crunchy apples and grapes really satisfied my need to chew.

Baked chicken for dinner and a chocolate protein shake for dessert tonight.

They made it sound like it would be difficult to hit the protein levels, but I don't think it will -- at least not before being banded.

It has hit me that this is really happening.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
