hardness under my large incision
I have the exactly same "hardness" you described but when I asked my doctor he said that IS my port. Are you sure that's not the case?

End of Year Challenge
I lost 3 lbs last week. I'm a little under the weather and I'm super busy at work, so this week will be a challenge. I just updated the spreadsheet and notice we've lost a combine 179.9 lbs (I'm sure it's more since it looks not everyone has updated) so keep up the good work everyone!

When are you having your first band fill?
I had my surgery on Oct 20th and I was supposed to get my first fill today....but my insurance company didn't approve the fill in time and now it'll be postponed for 2 weeks or so. Kind of sucks, I was hoping to get the ball rolling on fills to reach that sweet spot. On a bright note, my weight loss has been pretty consistent ever since my first appointment with my Dr. and I'm on pace to reach my End of Year goal.

Soft foods?
I'm in the soft foods stage and I've been eating lots of tuna, soft scrambled eggs, oatmeal and I can have a little bit of rice and pasta. Included in this stage for me is crispy foods (ie: crackers and even well toasted bread). Refried beans are also great. Did your doctor give you a list of foods that you can and can't have? I'd check with your doctor since it seems all doctors differ when it comes to diets.

Just thoughts: Who defines "overweight"?
Height and Weight BMI measurements are the least accurate. When I was in the Army we had to have our BMI measured every 6 months or so, if you were above BMI of 21 or so they'd take your measurements. Neck, chest and belly...another way to check your BMI is with a tool that pinches you fat on your arms. Of the three, height and weight is the least accurate. If you want to know you actually BMI have it measured another way. People have such different body types that it's impossible to use height and weight.

South Beach Diet Bandsters???
So, I know this is an old thread but I recently so a couple of people post about this diet. I myself have used SBD in the past with great success (losing the weight, not keeping it off...I am a bandster after all). I'm just over 1 week post-op and plan to this diet as a foundation for my eating, together with the band I really believe I can lose the weight and keep it off permanently. Good luck everyone.

A new Bandster with a few questions!
That was my experience, I was banded on Oct 20th, about the 5th & 6th day I was in horrible pain from the gas. It shot right to my left shoulder and felt like some nasty cramps right under my rib cage. That was a couple of days ago and now I feel fine. There is still a little gas but all in all I'm starting to feel normal again.

End of Year Challenge
If you would've asked how I was feeling a couple of days ago you would have gotten a completely different answer, but today I'm starting to feel back to normal. I feel a little bloated, but not much pain from the gas anymore. Thanks for asking.

End of Year Challenge
Thanks for the spreadsheet isaviolinist. I'm an accountant so I can always appreciate that, haha. I'm only 1 week post-op so maybe my target weight loss is a little ambitious, but I figure it's not a challenge if I set the bar low....good luck everyone!

End of Year Challenge
I'm going to join you guys, I was banded Oct 20th and between pre-op and the last week I've lost over 25lbs. My goal is to lose another 25lbs by New Years putting me right around 256lbs....that would mark my lowest weight in about 3 years. Good luck everyone.

What's for dinner tonight?
I'm with you (liquid phase), I can't wait to chew something.

Left Shoulder Pain After Lap Band Surgery
I'm only 1 week post-op and this shoulder pain is crippling, I know just gas and it will go away so I just have to weather the storm. On the bright side, I'm down over 25lbs in about a 1.5 months.

Can't Handle Spicy Foods Anymore???
Oh man I would die, I was even putting Tapatio in my broth 2 days after surgery, haha.
