my pool is opened for the season
Happy Memorial Day to everyone and thank you to all who have served us to protect us. So today I went dreaded swim suit shopping. My condo has a pool that just opened, too cold in Boston right now but Thursday- Saturday it will be 90 out. I like the 2 piece type, shorts and a top that hangs over. I tried on about 12 tops at JCPenney and about 4 bottoms. The bottoms were great but the tops looked like sh*t. So then I went to Macy's and tried on just 2 there and bought a suit. The bottom is pants with an over skirt, looks great, never tried one on before. The top is the type I like. MIL was very sweet and bought it for me. I usually don't spend a lot on swim suits especially when losing weight but this should fit the whole summer unless I have massive weight loss. The past 2 years I have been buying on line from Swimsuitsforall. Their prices are great and they have a large assortment of styles and sizes. I have even bought cover ups from them. When I looked in the mirror, OMG!, my thighs are so flabby. I told hub, I need a thigh /body lift. I like to wear shorts in the hot summer, too, so he suggested shorts that come to the knees. I don't do carpi, pants at all. I hope you all have a great swim suit buying day of a smaller size with a smile on your face, men, too. Arlene

It's harder than I imagined...
First-congratulations!!!!! I have a protein shake every morning, here is my recipe: chocolate protein, 8 oz. skim milk, a little decaf instant coffee, a little peppermint extract and tons of ice and it is as thick as McDonald's. I have a Hamilton Beach small blender that doubles as a drinking cup. So when everything is in the cup then add the ice until filled. I have ice cube trays that make very small cubes and use a whole tray for each shake. I bought them at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $3. Next, you love life. Dear Abby/Ann Landers, one of them says to make a list of the pros and cons of the boy friend. Do you think you can live without him or was he just someone you liked, not loved, having around knowing you were not alone. These are questions only you can answer. I am married for 42 1/2 years to my high school sweetheart and we went to different high schools. My husband and I broke up for 3 months when we were 16/17 and it was his birthday and I sent him a birthday card and then a letter and we have been together ever since. The protein shakes are not forever but hopefully the weight loss will be. I just love having them first thing in the morning because I hate eggs and breakfast foods. I use body Fortress, at Walmart around $17. Good luck with your new journey. Arlene

Don?t wanna play anymore!
Every weekend on tv in Boston there is a show called The Phantom Gourmet. So on Sat & Sun for 1 1/2 hours i watch all about restaurants. So today was NE seafood, fried clams, lobster, you name it, fried. I said to my husband, I want fried shrimp, clams and onion rings. We are not having it but I so wanted it. NE fried food is so wonderful all summer. So I totally understand your thoughts on food today. I made homemade meatballs for dinner. Boring!

Was feeling kinda lonely today.
Enjoy the new shoes and have fun using them to stay fit. When ever I go out, I take a cooler and have my iced teas and protein bars with me because I never know when I will get hungry and what foods will be available. Today I went outlet shopping with my husband and had a bar on the way home and it was great. Enjoy all the parties and talk with everyone and don't look at the food. I have done that. Thank your BFF for serving and keeping us safe.

Coping Skills
Nice blog. I have always said that addiction, meaning drugs etc. you can live without and food you can't. There is always help for these and not enough for food addiction and we can't live without food. People look at addicts like, I feel sorry for them, I hope they get help. Then they look at the food addict like, that fat person, pig etc. Sad but true. I use to eat a pint of ice cream almost every night. I don't buy any. I love very dark chocolate and still have it but small pieces. I had birthday cake when my MIL turned 90 and it was too sweet, I was thrilled! Enjoy your day and long weekend.

Emotional Eating...
I live in Randolph south of Boston and go to the support group at BI/Milton. I know the BI/Boston has meetings twice a month. Is there a local hospital in the Andover area? Ask your doctor. I have one tomorrow night. I know Boston is about 45-60 minutes away but once a month isn't too bad in this weather so you can get support. Good luck.

If at first you don't succeed...
Poor Missy. I hope she is right, women like to stick together.

Should I or Shouldn't I?
Good for you for thinking about the Band. I love it. It is a tool and you do have work with the tool. Have you attended any meetings at the local hospital? They are very good for information and support. I went to the support groups every month before I got the Band, which was about 8-10 months and I still go every month. The meetings are great. I wish you luck with whatever you choose to do. I hope you have a support group at home, too. My family is amazinbg and behind me the whole time.

Well another day...
Good for you!! I wish I had the balls to that years ago but always was a chicken. Now I am older, 62 1/2, married, children and grandsons and very old mothers. If you are single, go for it. In a relationship, hope that person is behind you. Like you said you are a drive away or plane.

Well, that was unpleasant...
That is awful. I find with leftover meat you need gravy. My dietitian believes in gravy and sauces to get food down, sometimes. I hope you feel better.

Shame
Sorry to hear about your loss. About eating wrong, it's over with, tomorrow start again. If you are having problems with emotional eating call your doctor and or dietitian. They know how to handle this better than anyone.

Feeling kinda lonely today
You're doing exercise so soon? Does your doctor know? I was told no exercise for about 4-6 weeks, don't recall but it could have been the 6 weeks except for walking. Take it easy, you need to heal, you just had surgery and all surgeries shock the body. About being hungry, I have no answers except I like the protein shakes as the choice. Good and relax and don't over do it, please.

solids in 2 days...help
Congratulations! Did your dietitian give you a menu to follow? Chicken is usually a good one to try. Just remember, chew chew chew and take your time. Soft veggies, like green beans, butternut squash. If you have trouble with something like chicken you can use gravy, tomato sauce etc. I love salmon, very soft. Good luck.

Easy Breezy....
I agree with you. As for losing weight slow now, me too! I had my last fill the beginning of February and have loss less than 10 since then. My next appointment is in 3 weeks. But remember we are both thinner now than 1 year ago. Our clothes are smaller, too.

It?s my one week bandversary
Wonderful on your 1 week! For your up coming birthday, how about a buffet of salad ingredients , fresh fruits and some cold chicken, shrimp or other protein you can eat and everyone can make their plate and enjoy "your" foods. For carbs you can serve pita breads, wraps so everyone can have something they enjoy. I love party planning. Desserts can be more fruit, SF fudgicles and Popsicles. And small cup cakes and you can have a bite. I hope I helped you.

LBT Friends
that is so sweet!! Happy Birthday. I didn't find this site until after the band, either. This site is the best ever.

Hallelujah the culprit may have been found!!
WOW-meds can do a job on people. My husband has very mild diabetes and one med made his sugar go over 500 and need 6 shots a day. Off that med and now takes 2 pills at dinner. Glad you're feeling better. By the way-in your picture-you look 'f' amazing.

Banded 3/1/13; Port replaced 5/3/13
Sorry to hear you had to have replacement surgery. But then your doctor seems to be very aware and that is super. Good luck with your new port and journey.

Cabin Fever is a B*tch
Happy to hear you're recovering. The shoulder pain may be from the gas and a heating pad helps. Sorry to hear it's cold where you live. I thought 58 in Boston was cold today but some where it is always worse. When there are sports games on tv they show beer and food, because men like that. They don't want to see Tampex commercials. Show Victoria Secret, and then that will get the men to stop eating. Feel better.

too tight??
There is no one in his Staten Island office that can help you? My doctor has someone on call 24/7 at both his offices. Maybe ask.\ Feel better and drink slow.

What Fibromyalgia did to me
Cheryl, I feel so happy that you are feeling better. Your husband is a saint!! Kiss him for me. I have missed you and your wise words. Welcome back. Love, Arlene

I did it! I am now banded
Sounds like you have everything under control. Fathers are wonderful men in their daughter's lives, usually. Yours sounds like it. If you find sipping hard, Popsicles or suck on ice chips, those are fine. I had a lot of Popsicles. I still have them everyday.

All the low hanging fruit is gone...
Terry, you're doing super and it shows. I couldn't ride a bike for as long as you do. I have not lost any weight in a long time and I am fine with the numbers as long as the clothes' sizes go down and they are slowly.
