Gallbladder ?
I had my gallbladder out a few months after my oldest son was born 38 years ago. I was told that when a shock happens to your body, the baby, other parts of the body change. Like the gallbladder would have had to be removed many years later but the baby made it happen sooner. Maybe the band had the same effect. I am not a medical professional but it sounds like the same thing. Good luck with everything.

Should I stay or should I go...asked the band.
Sorry to hear about your insides. Follow the doctors orders. I am happy the band did help you lose 90 lbs. That is amazing.

I'm proud of myself!
That was wonderful. Were you really thinking to yourself-that fish is killing you? Fat in the veins and fat on the hips. That is how I have been thinking lately. Awful but true. I love to read of great success in people's lives. This is one of them.

Congratulations on this wonderful journey you are taking. Husbands can be such wonderful support team leaders. I know mine is and it sounds like yours is too.

Feeling insecure
Many years ago my husband was the very thin one and we are still together for 42 years. He has been up and down on the scale too. Right now he sort of trying to get thinner with me. We go to the gym together and we both enjoy it. I married for better or worse and my worse was my weight. Get your husband involved in your journey and he will be great helping you. Good luck with re-enjoying your clothes. I call it, clothes shopping in my closet.

I'm not losing weight like everyone else
Thank you. I would go to your classes but Boston is a long drive from FL. I don't expect to lose all my weight in one year because it got on this gorgeous body over many many years. I did know this when I chose the band.

overweight children
I just read on the internet that in MA (I live here) that schools are sending out notices to overweight children. I have a son who has been overweight his whole life and he would have hated that. I did try everything with him, too. He is now 34 1/2 and trying to lose weight by cutting out sugar and diary and he is down 30 plus since November. I am very proud of him. He has been with his wife for 6 1/2 years and she can finally put her arms around him. I think schools sending out notices is going too far. Bring back gym class twice a week. That was taken away years ago.

Waiting on insurance
Good luck with everything. I wish I came home skinny. I love how children think. Soon the 2 of you will be roller bladeing together.

swim suits and other clothes shopping
Before you know it, it will be dreaded swim suit time. I live at a condo and do go to the pool. I don't mind it because I was never the biggest. But this summer I will need a new swim suit. For women (sorry men) there is a wonderful site where I buy my suits from, swimsuitsforall. I really like their choices and have bought cover ups, too. They always have great sales. Another site I like is, Jones New York. They have great sales sometimes. The site is much less than stores when there is a sale. I recently bought a twin set with shipping for under $35. and list was over $150. I now fit into the misses xlarge but have bought from their plus sizes at their outlet store. Kohl's has wonderful 't' shirt type tops that when on sale are under $10. and they wash real well. The long sleeved ones recently were under $7. I own a lot of them. Have fun shopping.

History

Bagels
I saw the dietitian a week ago and she said to get the Chinese food steamed and then add Hoision sauce which I add anyway. I am going to try it. I get shrimp or chicken with veggies and brown rice and bring home half.

Bagels
This morning got up early and went to my son's house. Last week my grandson was 13 and we had to bring him his b. day gifts. My son went and bought fresh made bagels. I was polite and asked for 1/4 of a bagel and he put Smart Balance on it. Nothing. That is how I felt about eating a former breakfast food. Nothing. I can live without them. I loved that. Some foods I can not go without but bagels are on the good bye list. On my never live without list is pizza, bread in restaurants, almonds, pasta and Chinese food. I think that is it. If you can't have what you really love and enjoy yourself the Band will not work with you because you will go after all these forbidden foods. Or that is how I see it with me. Have a wonderful weekend and hopefully no storms where you live. "Eye Candy"

More behind me than there is in front of me...
I too, have noticed that the scale goes up and down within 2-4 pounds since joining the gym. I work hard there for me. Being out of shape, overweight and over 60 it will take awhile at the gym but at least I am doing something.

Update on progress and First Fill
I enjoyed reading what you wrote. Every doctor is so different. When I get a fill I lie down and raise my legs and the port pops out. I too have to drink a glass of water after a fill. I get on the scale way too much. I also exercise and thought the muscle weighed more than the fat because my body is loosing inches. Keep up the great work.

Surgery Pains
I am happy to hear your mother is doing great!! I feel for her. I was treated for asthma and then COPD for many years. my lung doctor did some kind of test, I was knocked out, he did cameras down the throat etc, I had a hernia and my stomach was in the wrong place. I took 6 pills a day to eat because I coughed 24/7 from it. When I had the Band the doctor repaired and moved everything in place. I am perfect now. Thank your doctor because I had the same problem and it sucked. Feel better, Ma.

Fill today
You'll do fine. I had my 3rd one on Friday. Every doctor has their own after fill diet, just follow it. Mine is 3 days liquid, 3 days mushies and then back to the full diet. Today, I start mushies. I am having meatballs for dinner.

Day 2 45 Day Challenge
You're doing an amazing job at the gym. I can only do 3 minutes on the elliptical. The bike, 20-30 minutes. You need to have ME time. I keep wishing that and I don't work. Good luck with the challenge. I think you will be on top. Don't forget your husband-he is still waiting.

had a fill
Saw the metal monster, the doctor and the dietitian. I only lost a few pounds but it may be from doing exercise the doctor said. He is happy with me. Said I lost 50% of my fat. That doesn't suck. The doctor said the reason he does 3 days liquids and then 3 days mushies after a fill is because the fill has to settle into the band. Also, I asked about straws and he feels that straws put too much air into your body. Makes sense. The dietitian suggested eating beef or turkey jerky for protein. I bought beef teriyaki. I will try it next week. She also said to eat protein first, then veggies, then fruit and then the carbs. I don't do that exactly. I will try. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

And the journey continues...
Very amazing how each doctor is different after a fill. I am getting one at 2pm. My doctor has me have 3 days, liquid; 3 days, mushies and then back to my regular foods. Have a super TGIF and weekend.

45 Day Challenge Starts Tomorrow
That sounds like fun! I wish my support group did something like this. They aren't into much. They had a clothes exchange (I couldn't go) and one person brought clothes. Enjoy the gym and win the gift card.
