I feel for you and the dreaded metal monster. My weight does not change, in fact it went up some. I eat around 1200 a day and about 100 protein. I don't see the doctor and dietitian for 2-3 more weeks. I feel like a failure lately that the scale has not moved. I am very proud of you that you are out of the 190's!!!!!!!!
  2. Very nice blog. I have missed you and your wonderful blogs. I was told that my B12 was too high and to take my pill every other day. Have you found a house yet?
  3. Wonderful and good luck. Just remember to take pictures and measurements. I didn't until a few months after the band and yes, I am sorry.

That is great that you still enjoy the wine. My must have is bread so I only have good bread in restaurants. If you don't enjoy the new way of eating you will fail, been there, done that.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I love your fiance's quote, you cheated your whole life. It's true, I did.
  6. Good luck tomorrow and with the start of your new and thinner life.
  7. Sorry to hear about heartless people. My MIL calls people like that having diarrhea of the mouth. When you can't think of something to say, say nothing and no feelings are hurt and you don't make an ass of your self or others. As for staying the same weight, that's me. I have been the same since the beginning of February. I go to the gym and try to be good but I have my "have to haves", restaurant breads, pizza and very dark chocolate and almonds. We are both thinner than we were so that is good. Have a wonderful Happy Hump Day.
  8. Congratulations!!!!! That is so great. Maybe the stress made you lose instead of gain. A size 12-WOW! I hope to see that number some time soon. Keep up the great work with your trainer, it shows.
  9. I see you have the best blender. I have 2 of them. Just follow what ever your dietitian says and you should do fine. Take sips of water, you need the liquids. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. Turned out fine. I sat with my oldest son and my brothers so they know and my food portions were a little bit bigger than normal but I had a shake for lunch. One person asked how much I lost and I said it is private and I don't share. I think she was offended. Oh well, too bad. My fat ass is finally smaller than my SIL, who I hate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was my best NSV ever.

Today is my MIL's 90th birthday party, at a Chinese restaurant. Almost every one at the party has not seen me for over 6 months. Nervous does not explain my feelings. I know I am being crazy, but I feel like everyone will look at me and judge what little food I will be putting on my plate. My children and oldest brother have seen me eat and say nothing, it's all the others and they don't know about my new friend, The Band! There is an open bar, I don't drink, even before the band, so that is fine. I have not said anything to anyone even the hub about this. He would tell me I am crazy. Thank you for listening. Enjoy your day. The Red Sox are winning right now!!!!!!!!!!!! go SOX.
  12. WOW!!!!! you look great. I am always afraid to try on smaller sizes. Maybe we all need to start small?
  13. Every doctor/hospital have different diets. I went to a large Boston hospital and just looked up the diet in the book they gave me. 3 meal replacements a day and 1 real meal that includes: 4 oz. protein, 1 carb, 1 veggie, 1 fruit, 1 dairy, 1 fat.I had no problem sticking to this. I spread my real meal between 4-7pm and it made me feel great. I still have my salad about 1-2 hours before my dinner and that way I get in my veggies and protein when I do have dinner. Tonight I am having a salad and later on salmon and veggies. Congratulations on your up coming band!
  14. I have been out all day and saw much earlier or yesterday a question about hair loss. At my monthly support group tonight was the rep from Bariatric Advantage. Her name is, Pat, I think. Pat had bypass surgery 10 years ago. She still looks great. About 4 years ago she started to lose her hair. She had a blood test and her Ferritin showed up very low, around 2 and she said it should be around 40ish. She had to have some medical things done to her but her hair is very healthy now. So she said if you have hair loss get tested for this Ferritin. She also said you have to keep up with your annual blood work because people that have WLS do lose some vitamins and minerals and don't know it. Have a great evening everyone. Arlene
  15. CG-you're great!!!! Does your hub hunt? I love deer meat.
  16. I use a Fitbit to record all my intake and movements. But there are many free sites that people talk about. Fitness Pal is one of them. You write in what you cook and I guess it helps with the calories.

I have been banded since July but have been having a protein shake for breakfast for 14 months and I am not sick of them. They are super thick with tons of ice. I also use 2 scoops of protein, I know that is a lot but it fills me for 4-6 hours. I have the small Hamilton Beach blender that doubles as a drinking cup. I have mini ice cube trays and use a whole tray in each shake with 8 oz skim milk.

My weight goes between 193 and 195 for about one month now. I don't get it either and I am very past TOM's. I see my doctor next week but I am down since my visit with him in February.
  19. I am so sorry to hear you got so sick. Do Not Give Up!! We are all here to try to help you. I have had my PCP call and make appointments for me with specialists. Would yours with the Band people? I have never eaten 1/2 cup of anything. I eat more than that. I have under 3 cc in a 10 band. Try mind over matter and don't think about the band's liquid think about your health and try to retrain yourself to have less food. I wish you luck with everything.

Inches are wonderful. I lose more of them than pounds. I measure once a month. Keep up the super job.
  21. thank you. I knew you would like it. Dylan is a grandson and also Matt is his older brother and Max is the new one from Roger. Have a super day. Spring has come!
  22. I have 2 wonderful sons. Roger is the oldest, 38 and Frank is 34. Roger was born chicken breasted. He needed to have surgery to fix his chest at 2 1/2. If it was not fixed he could have had a heart attack by age 10, his heart was not in the right place and he was hunch backed from the chest problems. My husband asked the surgeon about risks (he was head of pediatric surgery at Boston Children's Hospital). The doctor said you can walk across the street and get killed. Since that time when any doctor has recommended surgery my husband don't really think of it. By the time Roger was 5 he had 4 different surgeries. He is perfect! Frank was born slightly chicken breasted but did not need the surgery because his heart was in the right place. So this leads to why I am writing. There are pros and cons to everything. Last week a young man around 24ish had his wisdom teeth pulled and died. You never know when it's your time to go. I love this site and enjoy reading about other's wonderful results, accomplishments and seeing their pictures. I am too computer challenged to put any pictures on, sorry. Writing that the Band is awful because you had a problem is sad but don't knock all of us. A Boston hospital many many years ago did a research drug, turned out to be Merida, I signed up. It worked great for me until I stopped. In the study, in Boston and England they said 2 women had strokes. You know what, I didn't think about quitting because out of the 2500 people they were over 60 and with that many people there is sure to be health issues. Let's all think positive thoughts, that we are going to beat Obesity and get healthy and fit. I know I am doing it. By the way I have had about a dozen different surgeries. From a small mole I got MRS. You never know what is going to happen. Have a wonderful evening and super Tuesday-spring has arrived!!!!!! at least in Boston. Arlene
  23. I'm very proud of you. Maybe it is time to say, I am trying to lose some weight and I can use the help of not eating any more bad things. Meanwhile, they are very sweet, but then you are too.

I had the band last July and I burp and fart all the time. No smells, usually. The gas pain from the surgery lasted maybe one week. Use a heating pad, it helps a lot.

Wonderful and congratulations to you!! Being positive is the best thing. i don't understand weight and clothes sizes anymore. In high school I weighed maybe 150-160 (too many years ago) and I wore the same size I am now and I weigh 193. Maybe the manufacturers are screwing with us.
