uggg...
I don't think he is incompetent, as much as it's new to them. At first my insurance did require me to be monitored for 6 months by a physician for weight loss b/4 they would approve the surgery. My insurance was new to cover the band and some things weren't clear at first as to the what / whens, but I am glad I was patient and it all worked out. But I can advise you to stay on top of it, so you don't miss out on the opportunity to have the surgery. Good luck. Tammy

Feeling fed up!
I have sort of gone this journey alone also. Same as you only a handful no and they don't understand one bit. Also the nurse at the surgeons office was terrible at first so I switched to another same thing. Both places told me to stay off this site. I enjoy reading what others are going through and learn things also here. So NOW this Thursday I go to a new surgeon the support I have gotten from them already is far surpassed the anything I have so far received. Went to a seminar last night and it was great. I still use my children's silverware set. I like using them. You can share with me anytime.. There are some Great people here!!!

Self pay for "follow ups"
Wow, I will find out Thursday what costs are w/o insurance. I am thinking about changing jobs but was just banded March 2013 so if it's that expensive for fills, that might make my decision to stay at current job..

Eating Veggies
I no everyone is different. I did learn from this sight I was able to eat shrimp, w/o a problem, I hadn't even tried.. NOW I have a question.. Has anyone tried CORN? w/or w/o problems? I am on my third surgeon now and my visit isn't until October.. So I am kinda on my own. Banded 3/22/13 Any input I would appreciate..

Keeping track of food and fitness
Web MD has the best tracker! It is EZ to use, keeps me accountable AND I never really considered HOW much exercise does play a role in burning up calories until it is right in front of my face on this tracker. I look forward to posting my entries now!!

Is Slimband similar to a Lap Band? I was banded 3/22/13 and It was the best decision I have ever made. I have lost 34 lbs and feel so much better already.. Good Luck I had anxiety also.. Especially during the pre-op diet. I am 55 years old and have been overweight for 15 years (since a hysterectomy) and then gained 40 lbs quitting smoking and the lbs just kept adding on.

Ugggggg
Good Luck I asked but you answered about liquids after a fill. I just had my first fill yesterday and I am starving on clear liquids. But tomorrow I can have protein shakes and yogurt that will be better...

pizza?
I am afraid to eat pizza because it might get stuck. I haven't had any bread either.. I really miss the pizza.

First Fill Today
I was banded March 22,2013. Today was my first follow-up with the Doctor and my first fill. I found out I have a 10cc band. Forgot how much fill I got. I have lost post surgery 22 lbs with 2 weeks of staying the same weight . One week was the first week of Real food and second was last week. I was opting not to get a fill--- BUT the last 2 weeks I wasn't feeling full after my 1/2 c servings. This going on Clear liquids for 2 days Is MENTALLY Challenging.. 2 days of the Full liquid is not going to be much better.. I no I can do this. But weather is raining and School's out for Summer so I 'm not working. Got to keep busy with something. I have 39 more lbs to go to get to my Goal Weight. They didn't measure me so I don't no how much they have changed. Can't wait to go down another size.. It's the Greatest feeling putting on clothes that I couldn't even get into 3 months ago.. I have been VERY constipated doc sez that's because I'm not drinking enough Water. Sure glad I switched offices because Nurse at old office told me Well you won't drink as much as you did before banding.. It was because of her and her attitude and non compassion I switched offices.. Same Surgeon group just different location.. Well this is all for now.. Stay Positive Stay positive.. I keep saying this in my head. Happy weight loss everyone!!!

If you have lost without fills please advise!!
Thank you all for the feedback.. Some awesome weight loss. I had my second week this week with no loss. But NO gain . I wonder why I just now got the email that I had a response to this post.. OH Well. thank you all again.. I haven't had any support only negative responses from my surgeon's nurse so I switched offices and have an appointment on June 5.

If you have lost without fills please advise!!
I was banded on 3/22/13 I have lost 22 lbs. since banding and 31 total. I have no problem with my surgeon, but his nurse is HORRIBLE -- so I feel I am doing this on my own.. I changed to a different office and will have my first appointment since surgery on June 5th. would like to talk with those who have lost without fills. I am losing 1 -2 lbs a week, Haven't gained but stayed the same the week I started eating real food. I have 40 lbs more to loose. I am happy with this loss and Have the full feeling at 1/2 cup of food. Thinking if things are going good why mess with it. I see so many that get too much or not enough..It gets to be expensive and I am going away for the whole summer 7 hours away from my doctor. And it means a day off work each time I visit the doctor. Thank you for reading. I have gotten real good information on this site.
