Blah............
I am very happy to hear from you, again. The beginning of the school year is always very busy. Sometimes you just have to walk away from your desk and say it's me time for 15 minutes. Have a great Labor Day weekend and relax with your wonderful husband.

Maintenance
You look amazing with your wonderful smile and great looking husband. Knowing that it took you 2 years to get to goal just made my day. Thank you. I have been around the same weight for 3-6 months (lost count) and feel like a failure. Now I don't. I am 13 months banded and thought it would take 1 1/2-2 years so I guess that is right. Keep in touch with us we all need encouraging words.

plus size clothes
Good evening, On Yahoo I was just reading an article that said Tim Gunn thinks it is awful the way designers treat plus size women. Finally someone on our side. He said if he was on the 8th floor at Saks in NY he would jump through the window because the clothes are that bad. I am not in plus size any more but I totally understand what he is talking about. When I wore plus size I wore a lot of Ralph Lauren. The jeans fit the best and lasted forever. Maybe now the designers will listen because Tim has a lot clout!!

How much can you eat??
I eat out all the time and eat from the kid's menu a lot. I also will order a small salad and for $4-$7. extra add a protein, like chicken, shrimp or salmon. I do that one a real lot and love it. So far no has said anything to me for eating small portions, which I like.

Having a hard time accepting my decision to get banded
I enjoyed reading your story. When I met with my original surgeon, long story, I said I felt like a failure because I needed the Band! She said I was not a failure but I was helping myself with a tool. She was right. I love my tool. I love no more 'fat stores'. I can fit into booths in restaurants and no longer have to ask for table and chairs. I can keep up with my grandsons. Don't think that getting the band means you are a failure and need help. We all need help everyday. In other ways. By the way, did you ever model? good luck with your choice. Maybe go to the support meetings with your husband. I go every month and most of the time my husband comes with me for support.

A Happy Memory
Kids tell the truth. Sometimes not nice things. My son became a wonderful father to a 6 1/2 year son (now 13 1/2) and being that my son is obese, Matt was taught at 6, never say anyone is fat, large etc. That young lady was taught correctly, Princesses come in all shapes and sizes, it's the dress that makes them stand out.

4-1/2 months of calorie counting. Let's look at the numbers
Johnny-you're great! You make me laugh all the time. Do you do stand-up? You and Lisa Lampanelli would be great together talking about your WLS. She had the sleeve and you the band. Have a great day. I hope you make it to 50!!

I hate fake people!
Sorry to hear about your friend's fire. As for your co-workers, they are co-workers, not friends. People are with their co-workers more than anyone else in their life yet they don't understand the bonding sometimes. Very sad for them. Meanwhile, raising money for the fire victim was great and must have made you feel wonderful. NSV!

Where is my restriction?? 6 weeks post op ... so sad
Everyone is different with their weight loss. I have been around the same weight for 4-6 months but I am fine with that. With the band you lose slower than with the other 2 WLS. That was one of the reasons I chose the band and also because I didn't want my insides cut or removed for good. Maybe talk to your dietitian for help with your eating.

hair loss
Sorry about your hair loss. I take Biotin 5mg every day. It helps with hair and nails. I get mine from Bariatric Advantage. They are capsules but being that they make all their products for WLS they go down very well. I buy about 5-6 different vitamins and minerals from them. I did have a small section of hair thinning. I didn't know until my husband said something while I was getting a haircut. My stylist had class and wasn't telling me.

Total blessings
Very sweet husband! You really look great.

first fill
I don't understand 2 bandages. My doctor has me lay down and raise my legs and the port like pops and then he goes in once. If I gave up up carbs, I would lose more weight but when I do without I eat more of those items. But everyone has to listen to their own doctor and dietitian. Any loss is better than a gain. Congratulations!!!

last night's Night Line! OMG!
I stay up very late at night and sleep very late. So last night's Night Line showed and talked about having a piece of mesh sewed to your tongue for 1 month to control your eating! It was gross. It cost $2000. and was being done by a plastic surgeon in CA. He said you lose 15-20 pounds by having just protein shakes. What happens after he takes the mesh off? You gain it back! of course. They showed 2 women and they were thrilled with their results. Comments from any of you! I just told my husband, he fell asleep and he couldn't believe people would pay for this. There is Slim Fast and other protein shakes and they don't cost $2000. People will do anything to make money from over weight suckers, I mean people. Have a great day everyone. Arlene

Once I lose all my weight....
They all sound great! I love the seeing the ex. I don't have an ex but I have former friends that I would love to see me when I am at goal.

This is so hard!!
Congratulations on getting the band and starting a new journey. Are you getting enough protein in at every meal? Protein makes you full longer. I am far from perfect and never thought of eating anything not on my post op list because I was afraid I would do damage. Today is a new day, forget yesterday. Maybe Monday call your dietitian and ask for help.

Keeping busy
The house looks amazing. Enjoy it. My cousin was a nurse at a hospital and then went to an allergy doctor's office. She worked M-F, no nights and had holidays off. She is retired now but loved less stress at an office. Good luck finding a new job.

Family Reunion
Sounded like a super weekend for you and the band!

my doctor/your doctor
Happy Sunday night. As most of you know last Tuesday was my one year banding. On Friday I saw my PCP and then my surgeon. They are both happy with me. My surgeon told me I am perfect with my under 2cc's in my band and said I don't need any more. When I was banded, my band did not have any saline in it. Very interesting how every doctor does their 'own' thing and we can not compare. I see so many people complain that they need another fill, another fill next month, why? Are you doing the right thing? This past week I ate too fast, 3 times and had to go walking. My fault, no one else's. I do not throw up ever, even with the flu, I don't. The doctor told me I really need to exercise more. I had complained that my muffin top is still big. He is very happy with me and I see him again in 2 months. I would love to be around 180-185 by then. I just need to move my fat ass and muffin top. This week I am going to a cousins reunion on Cape Cod, Wednesday. I live about 1-1 1/2 hours from there. Then Thursday, Newport, RI to visit a cousin from my husband's side. Great places to visit and Newport is the best for walking around. Have a great evening. Arlene

Meh
I will miss you but totally understand where you are coming from. I have noticed that in the past 6 months a lot of the regulars are missing. I enjoyed them and you. This site has taught me a lot and it is the best place to learn from the masters. There are always the people who challenge everything in life including the band. How far can I stretch it. They never should have gotten the band to begin with. Be well and please pop in time to time. Thank you. Arlene

Today I will be banded!!
Congratulations!!!!! to you. Smart taking pictures, I never did. Also I didn't take before measurements. I didn't start that until I had the band for maybe 2 months. Remember follow your doctor's rules, no someone else's. Every doctor is different.
