  8. Hi there I was banded on 03/24/11 and am down 146 pounds. I lost 145 slowly and without any excersize whatsoever, because I am lazy. My body has refused to lose anymore without it so I finally began excersizing a few days ago and already feel better. I feel like I have got to reach the 150 mark by my 3 year bandiversary. Good luck to you with whatever WLS you choose.

  12. My 10 year old dog is also my baby and he has been on a quick decline this year. Monthly vet visits and meds constantly, 2 steps forward and 1 step back. I feel so sorry for you, especially with how young your baby was. I know I will be despressed and inconsolable as well when my baby's time comes. Just take the time you need to grieve, don't worry about anyone but you right now. If ice cream is helping, let it be what it'll be. The band will still be there to get you back on track when you are ready. God Bless.
  13. If you are craving salt, you are likely dehydrated. Salt helps the body retain Water so your body craves it when it is low on water. The first 3 days of your pre-op diet are the absolute worst, it will get easier from here. You've made it past those, congrats. My husband got a death threat from me on my third day, so I understand it is no joke. The pre-op diet is also the hardest by far. The only other time is after a fill or an unfill you will have a few days of liquids also. That is nothing compared to weeks on liquids only though! Can you call your doctor's office and see if you are allowed any eggs or something else that would be filling but wouldn't de-rail you? Good luck, the pre-op diet is quite the mental fight.
  14. I think you should call the Dr. and at least speak with one of the nurses. They can help with your concerns and it's what you have paid them to do. I know right after my surgery, I had pretty bad gas pains for a few days and my throat was definitely sore from the intubation for a few days as well. Did they give you a plastic device to blow into? I hated that but it was good to see when my breathing was improving. I ask since this is occuring when you are deep breathing. PS - Don't feel guilty for calling up your Dr. Just do it and you will feel better!
  15. My headaches are dehydration as well. Could you possibly be having caffeine withdrawals? Those can be rough also.

  17. Awe you will look great in your wedding dress. Keep in mind that right after surgery, you don't typically have much if any fill in your band yet. This leads to slow weight loss until your band has more fill in it and your eating is naturally slowed by the band. As an added note, my Dr. recommends 80g Protein daily. I asked if I ate this how I would eat anything else and he told me you really won't. It's similar to an Atkins I guess for quicker weight loss. Just something to consider, but always go by what your own Dr. says is best. Good luck on your journey!

  20. Anyone back or still around? How's it going? I'm hoping to reach goal by my 3 year banded mark.
  21. Congrats on the weight loss and on getting to take a vacation without the extra pounds.

  23. Anytime you get a fill or even an unfill, it is good to do liquids for a day or two and then mushies for another day or two. Hope this helps!
  24. Congrats to you both! Happy Band Day!!
  25. Way to go! It'll go great and will be over with very quickly and you'll be on your way to beter health! Congrats!
  26. From day 3 until day 12 or 13 I was good on my liquids, with the exception that I was starving so I added 2 eggs for dinner every night. I was so worried about it but I guess it wasn't a huge deal. Some people don't even have to go on them. On mine I lost 26 pounds in the two weeks. Good luck!
  27. It sounds like you have some nasty shakes. Are you allowed to try different ones? My Dr. had me on Chike. Granted, they aren't the best but certainly not chalky and I didn't mind drinking them at all. Also, Ensure is pretty tasty if that is even an option? Good luck with your liquid diet.
  28. I would recommend contacting your doctor for advice. They should have someone on call for you to reach. With my own experience, when I get stressed my band tighten's up greatly. I have about 5.5cc in a 10cc band and when I got sick a few months back, the stress and anxiety had my band feeling like it was overfilled. I spoke with my Dr. and he said when you get tghtened due to stress it can take a long time for it to loosen up again. For me, it was about 10 weeks before I could really eat again. I had felt very little restriction prior to my sickness, it was the stress that caused the tightening. I hope this helps some. I know it is different circumstances but being far from home would be stressful, even if it was for a vacation. If things get bad, specifically with your blood sugar, I would definitely seek out a medic/hospital. I hope you have a nice time on your trip and can get some enjoyment out of it.
