solids in 2 days...help

I have been on mush for what seems like an eternity and very hungry. I FINALLY get real food on Monday and have no idea what to eat

I will have my first fill next week. I am a paranoid about food now, I have literally been starving myself because I feel like it will be harmful to eat.... (wow that sounds bizarre). Wish I could have had that mentality before being banded...lol. I do have a recipe I would like to try for my big day Monday of solids...just not sure.

​Congratulations! Did your dietitian give you a menu to follow? Chicken is usually a good one to try. Just remember, chew chew chew and take your time. Soft veggies, like green beans, butternut squash. If you have trouble with something like chicken you can use gravy, tomato sauce etc. I love salmon, very soft. Good luck.

Thank you for your imput. I do not have a dietician (trying to get my insurance co. to cover). What I am wondering is; this talk of not being able to have bread, I understand it has alot of carbs, however what about soybean bread or things of that nature? Is it because it gets stuck or is it because of carbs? What is the ingredient in bread I need to avoid, so that then I could try other dietary things within my calorie count?

Bread becomes sticky and grows in the stomach. Toast however can sometimes be better. so I have heard. White bread, pasta, rice, can expand making it uncomfortable. What I have heard is to try one new food at a time. Then you will know what you can and can't eat.

For most of us, going to solids made little difference. Your band probably has 0-3 CC's of fluid in it and the stoma is still wide. You should be able to eat most anything and may not notice a difference. Don't be surprised if it is this way? It could take several fills before you start to notice some foods not passing through as easily. Until then this is basically a diet. For me, during this period(4 months long) I did feel satisfied with less food so I did not gain weight, but for many, it's still a diet till you get some restriction.
