6 days post band replacement surgery
I am happy to hear you're feeling better. Each time you have surgery it is like a shock to your body. I have had about 12 surgeries so far. But I heal well which helps. Relax and let others wait on you and enjoy the rest.

May 9th my first Nutritional class
Good luck with your new journey. You are very lucky you found this site before your surgery and can read about everything. I didn't find it until after the Band.

4 days post band replacement surgery
Sorry to hear you had so many problems but then I am very happy you did something about it. You read that so many people don't call their doctors when something isn't right. Feel better.

Back on the wagon
You're not a failure but had fun and now need to work your tool and fit into your jeans. Smart-not having any larger clothes to get comfortable in.

Instant Gradification Junkie
I am 8 months tomorrow and since the band down 47 but since I started watching myself down 75. I don't feel like I am losing fast enough but I am losing more than before the band. I go to the gym as much as I can which lately isn't enough. Where I live the gym is $10. per month. Good luck and maybe when we are 1 year we will be down more.

today's topic-Clothes
you have much more stores than Boston. I don't go downtown. About 5 miles from me is a huge in door mall with over 100 stores and all the major ones are there. But the outlets I love. We also have a warehouse store not too far and I bought Ralph Lauren 't' s for $12. They last about 10 years or more.

today's topic-Clothes
I love to shop for clothes, even if it's window shopping. Where I live in MA we have outlet stores about 30-45 minutes away and my husband is a people watcher. Perfect match! So today we went, the temp in Boston was around 60. I went into the Donna Karen store and they were selling daisy dukes. Can you picture us former over weight women in those with our Shar Pei thighs? Great picture, men. I just thought that was funny and I need humor. I did go to the Jones NY store and bought some 't's for $7. each and bought some for Mother's Day gifts, too. I love that store. I was good today, my husband wouldn't let me into the Godiva store, OMG! I love their dark chocolates and yes, I do eat them. Happy shopping, ladies and men. Arlene

Enjoying being Active
Sorry to hear you hurt yourself. I always find great exercises on the internet. Put in what body part you want to move and improve. I hurt my neck and found some great ones. I use google. Very good that you are so active. I try to get in 3500 steps a day, WOW, if I got in as many as you I would so much more fit.

To Fill or Not to Fill
I have had 3 fills and total they are under 3cc. My doctor just does small ones. I have noticed people post they have large ones. I don't know what is right or wrong but maybe discuss this with your doctor. Good luck with whatever you and he choose.

Fat Day
I so agree with everything you wrote. Last night I was looking in the big mirror in the bathroom and saw the Bingo arms-OMG! I have lost 73 pounds since March, 2012 but only around 45 since July when I got banded and that bothers me a lot. I did get down to 193 once or twice but I stay around 195. But then it took longer than one year for me to get to the 268. We are eating healthier and moving my sedate bodies and that deserves a star.*

Perfect as always. Thank you for your wonderful words.

Scared
I am from Boston, home of Dunkin' Donuts. They are on every corner here. My small town has 4 of them. Krispy Creme failed in this area. That did hit home. I miss donuts. My favorite is a powder donut filled with thick chocolate frosting. My record is 3 in 10 minutes. I even know which DD's has the best donuts, that is awful. Have a great day. Arlene

Surgery 2 weeks from today...man will the internet scare you
Congratulations on the getting the band. I am one of the weird ones, I never researched or looked on line. My lung doctor told me you are doing this and I never looked back. I found this site and being computer challenged I didn't know how to find everything and read negatives. I guess that was good for me. Just remember the band is a tool and needs your help to work. Also every doctor and dietitian in this world have their own rules. When in doubt call them. We all try to help with general questions. Arlene

Getting Kicked Out of the Band
Don't ever give up on yourself. I got the band at 61 1/2 and it is the best thing I have done for me and the rest of the world. I can move. I eat in restaurants many times a week and have no problems. Tonight I had salmon from the children's menu and brought 1/2 home. I had lunch with a high school friend last week and did great. I just don't like breakfast out. I did go on Sunday with MIL and 2 of my grandsons and had 1 piece of toast because I had a shake at home. Have fun with the girls and your husband and enjoy life. I am from Boston and last week sucked here, enjoy yourself!!!!!!!!! Now call the girls for a night out and order smart. Arlene

No more fills for me....
I understand everything you wrote. I still eat too fast and my husband tells all the time. One day I hope to find the "Green Zone" like it is finding the Wizard of Oz at the end of the yellow brick road. I am drinking my protein shake and then off to the gym-wait that sounds like you, too. Enjoy your 'happy hump day'.

My life summary in a nutshell
Congratulations on not being an over weigh adult in your 40-50-60's etc. I was. I had the Band in July at 61 1/2. Good luck next week.

A confession
It's over with and tomorrow is a new day. You are not a failure, you slipped, we all do some times. Thank you for sharing this. It helps me and I am sure others, that no one is ever perfect. I eat more than 1 cup at dinner. Have a better tomorrow. Hugs, Arlene

Overwhelmed and anxious
I totally understand about being nervous right before surgery. I was prepped and about to be wheeled away and almost said no. I am so glad I had it. I feel better, look better and my clothes are smaller! I think it is sad your mother is not behind you. Is she scared or is she over weight and doesn't like others around her to be thinner? Many people can not handle thinner people in "their circle". I once had a friend like that. I had lost about 60 pounds and when I finally gained it back she told me I wasn;t a nice person thinner and she liked me fat. I wish you a lot of luck with your new life thinner and healthier. We are all here to support you.

shocked at the changes
I am down about 75 pounds and still see the fat me. Yesterday I put on my new size 14 jeans, thin looking and a size xl 't' and thought I looked good. Today I have on my Red Sox "t' and it fits over the fat ass and large hips, never did and I have worn it for years above the hip area, great feeling. I don't know when we see the thinner us. Don't give up, almost swim suit season.

shocked at the changes
My size 12 never changed. Just the width. A size 10 can be bought anywhere, you are very lucky!

me again
Neil Diamond is at the Red Sox game singing live, Sweet Caroline!!!! This country is great!!! David Ortiz gave a speech and said "this is our f**king city". He was not bleeped.

Acid reflux/ulcer
I don't know what it can be but Monday, call the doctor. My doctor has someone on call 24/7, does yours?

Left shoulder pain and hunger....
Hi I was Banded in July and it feels like many years ago. Do you still have pain meds to try to help? Maybe move your arm, like exercise it a little and maybe the gas will move. As for foods. I lived on SF Popsicles. I like Edy's the best. People drink broth and I think apple sauce was on the list. What did your dietitian tell you? I was given a huge book and it included every step of the diet. Good luck. Hopefully soon you'll be like me and forget the pains.

Boston is my Home!!
I grew up in Boston, on Comm. Ave. between BU and BC. I went to Boston public schools and I am very proud of being from Boston. I now live about 10 miles south of the city. My good friend works for the Boston Police Dept., 911. He just told me a woman from CA ordered a lot pizzas to be delivered to the head quarters and a person from KY sent fruit. This country is super, if you don't like it, there's the door. My 95 year old mother's nursing home was in lock down yesterday. She doesn't go out, so she wouldn't have known. My mentally challenged brother lives near the nursing home and the chefs and other workers couldn't go make and serve dinner last night. He lives in senior housing. So today when we are all out enjoying our freedom, let's all sing "Sweet Caroline". That was sung at the Boston Common last night by the people that could finally leave their homes and at every Red Sox game. Thanks Neil Diamond for a great song. I know this has nothing to do the weight loss or the band. Arlene
