To Fill or Not to Fill

I am so nervous. My first fill appointment is Monday. Have to be there at 745, so that means a REALLY early morning and long drive for me. I have been debating for a few weeks now (with myself) over getting a fill or just staying with what I have. I THINK I have made the decision to at least get a small fill done.

I am not really hungry. I am staying full for the most part. I do have occasions when I just want to eat and eat. But I am thinking that it is head hunger and not real hunger.

I have been kinda stalled on my weight loss though. (My opinion). My surgery was April 18 and since surgery (on my doctor scale at home) I have dropped 26 pounds. Although the last 2 weeks I have only lost about 4 pounds.

I am truly trying. The only thing that is really holding me back is the horror(LOL) stories on here about getting a fill and not being able to keep anything down...not even water, and then having to go back for an unfill. Well, I am 5 hours away from my Lapband doctor...and fear getting all the way home and having to turn around and drive back..sick... That to me is so scary.

I have not had any problems with being stuck. I have had some pain when I have not chewed very well or taken too big of a bite...but no PB'ing or truly stuck episodes. The pain only last a minute or so, then goes away. I am scared of that feeling too.

So...I dont know if I am going to put my big girl panties on or not...haha. The hubby says not to stress about and just go with what the doctor advises. So easy for him to say...to the woman that worries about EVERYTHING!!!!

Ill let yall know how Monday goes!!

I have had 3 fills and total they are under 3cc. My doctor just does small ones. I have noticed people post they have large ones. I don't know what is right or wrong but maybe discuss this with your doctor. Good luck with whatever you and he choose.

Talk over your worries with your doctor. I had surgery on Feb. 25, and haven't had a fill yet. On my last visit with the doctor, we decided I was doing well with out one. I will have a fill on my next visit. My loss is slowing down now, but I'm still pleased with my progress.

If you do have the fill, I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck tomorrow and try not to worry.

Could you hang out in town, do a little shopping? Take a book, go to the park and read? Take your camera and find something interesting, go to the zoo? Just thought if you are there that early, you could find something fun to do, and if you have a problem, head back to the office before your long drive home. Or even a night over? Good luck! You will do fine!

I am anxious to hear how you did. I have a HORRIBLE phobia of throwing up. And, I hadn't heard the horror stories you mention above with a fill and I have 2 friends who have lapbands. Please keep me posted

I had my fill on Friday last, I live six hours drive from my doc, I thought about hanging around and asked the doc, he said it wasn't necessary and he was absolutely right. If you are following the rules, you will be fine. I had all the same worries as you, but in the end it was all groundless I feel no different than before the fill, only less hungry. Good Luck I am sure you will be fine.

Well I did get a fill. They started with 3cc's. They do it under floroscopy(sp??). They injected the saline and then had me swallow some Barium stuff to watch it go down, The tech said it looked fine, but before I sat up, I could feel it coming back up and not going down. So they took .5cc out and told me to sit awhile and drink some water and see what happened. I started on the water, but it just didnt feel right, felt like it was not wanting to go down. I kept swallowing, idk if it was nerves or what. The tech came to check on me and immediatly saw me swallowing hard and got me back on the table and took another .5cc out. Then I had more water and everything was good. I was really nervous, but the techs were awesome. They were so understanding. That night, I had some potato soup and it DID NOT agree with me. I vomited for about 30 min...just sick and ugh feeling. Then I was fine. It was really thined so idk what it was. Have not had any problems since.
