Wow, what a great pic......yuo've done very well. Hope I can get brave enough to do that.

(Yes ladies, even us men have body issues! I've told my group sessions I'm ready to consider a tummytuck. Let's be honest, you know guys are vain!)

Keep it going guys!

That is really sweet lady. I wish my husband was more like that. He is not negative or anything. It is just that everyone is complimenting me on how good I look. I have not told anyone about my band just that I work out about 4 days a week and have changed my eating habits...all true. My husband seems to just compare me to himself. Instead of saying something about my weight loss, he'll comment something like, I'm losing weight too. Why can't he just be happy for me and let me have my moment. Maybe he's jealous, I don't know. But, we are not in competition. I bought me a new scale and he gets on it everyday and expects me to tell him he looks smaller...yeah right. Anyway, I am just enjoying the compliments of strangers and feeling really good about it. (just had to vent )

I can't say why for sure, but I am having a similar problem. My husband is very encouraging of the way I look and how good I do, but I have to share all of my glory with him, who started to lose weight really fast recently. He weighs himself every day and tells me how much he's lost every day. Before I asked him to stop when I weighed more than him because it was really discouraging, but now I don't really have an excuse.

I think I'm just jealous because I had to have surgery and he didn't.

I want to be happy for him, yesterday we went to the mall to get me something and it was closing in 15 minutes. We ended up getting HIM new jeans which he talked about how awesome he looked the rest of the night. He said I inspired him to lose weight, and I made a joke about him needing to keep up. Maybe it is my fault.

Maybe they just want to be a part of a good thing. Just thinking that there is enough glory and happy to share in life.

My husband is losing weight, too. Even though we ate healthy before there were still serving size issues. He is diabetic but does not have a bmi that was high enough to do the surgery. I am thrilled that he is getting healthier with me.

I understand what you are saying, but I think what we meant was, although we are thrilled for our partners, there are other feelings as well. but thanks for sharing your experience.

I didn't mean to sound preachy. Just thinking about relationships. I have to work to keep my focus where it needs to be, and my attitude decent. Lol, it doesn't always work!

On another note, however, I an getting ready for my road trip. I had a fill last visit, but still have minimal restriction. Yikes!

anyone tighter in the mornings?

I emailed my surgeon this question but his nurse called back and said he was leave and she told me to stick with mushies in the morning some people have this problem

After I've been up and about for about 4 hours things are fine but I can't wait 4 hours to eat!

Let me know delights-

I can no longer eat in the mornings since my last fill. My surgeon said to always have a Protein Shake for Breakfast - although I have tried several times to have an egg white, it gets stuck, so I just stick with the shake. I'm OK by lunch time.

@ New Joy - Love the photos, you look super!

Yes, the same is for me. I have a shake in the morning also. It seems about 10:30 I get hungry, I wake up at 6, and then after I eat, I need to eat every 2 hours till I eat dinner. After dinner I feel full till the next day. I really don't like feeling hungry during the day I want to get a fill. The doctor would not give me a fill last month. Next thurs. I go for my next appointment.

New joy - you look awesome!!

Yep, I am tighter in the mornings. I thought it was pretty common. I have a friend here in town that was banded by the same surgeon and she is really tight in the mornings also.

Happy Mothers Day all you moms out there.

I forgot to update that we found out we are having twins. I was beyond shocked! We are going to have 4 kids under 5. EEK

@ Tracy - I am happy for you - although I'm sure the news is a bit overwhelming at first!

I need to eat every 2 hours till I eat dinner. After dinner I feel full till the next day. I really don't like feeling hungry during the day

Bounser - I am so glad you wrote that! I too can feel hungry every two hours. I thought once I had restriction I would be able to go 4 + hours without eating. I don't think I need a fill as I can be tight, especially first thing in the morning, when even drinking Water is hard to get down. But once I start eating it is as if the hunger switch is flicked on. I too don't eat anything from dinner at 6:00pm until my shake at 10:00a.m. So, does anyone know what is going on?

Today is a special anniversary for me! It is exactly a year since I had my first appointment with my PCP. I had not been to a doctor in 17 years because I was so embarrassed about my weight! She treated me with respect and supported me when I talked about WLS. One year later I am so much more healthier; the results of my last blood test show all levels are perfectly normal, BP is great, (it was at stroke level a year ago) and I'm now 62 pounds lighter! This anniversary is as important to me (if not more so) as my surgery date.

Good health and happiness to you all.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
