How much time did you take off of work?

Recommended Posts

From the date of your surgery to when you went back to work how much time passed? I'm trying to figure out when to schedule my surgery and how much time to take off of work.

it depends on the type of work you do. I had my surgery on Thursday and went back to work on Monday. I had a student who did all my work. I would have been able to do it myself by Wed/Thurs.

I had my surgery on Thursday and went back to work on Monday also, I have a desk job though and I think if I had to be on my feet most the time I wouldn't of been able to do that.

I'm a hospital RN and we do lots of heavy lifting, I took off two weeks, but should have taken 3. I didn't hurt myself, but was still too tender. At 3 weeks I was back on track. I could have gone back to a no lifting desk type job in a few days.

I had surgery on Monday, drove to the store on Wednesday, and went to the office on Thursday, but I didn't do anything but open the mail, LOL.

I was teaching 8th grade when I had the surgery. I had the surgery on Wed and was back to work on Monday. However, I was able to do a lot of "book work" and "come to my desk for assistance" work for that week. And I put them in groups a lot working on a big project. And I had 8th graders who were more independent. But, I know how much the lower grades are active EVERY day.

Since you are 1st grade, I suggest you do it over Christmas break to give you the most time. That would be PERFECT for recovery!!! If not, I suggest at LEAST Spring break. My suggestion would be to plan to have a full week of recovery at least, if not two.

I agree with Jenna. My sister teaches Kindergarten and you guys are on the go alot with the lower grades. I volunteer and read to the classes K-5th grade and I would suggest from what I see you teachers do in a day that you do it over your christmas break. I am a laboratory technician and I was back in a week.

I had surgery on Thursday. Flew home for 3 1/2 hours on Saturday (not fun!). I did four loads of laundry on Sunday. Cleaned the playroom on Monday and went back to the job that pays on Tuesday.

I would just be careful of lifting. Everyone is different - plan for the worst and hope for the best!

I am/was a stay at home mom with three children at the point of surgery. I took off exactly 10 hours! I went home (back to hotel) to be with dh and the kids and nursing the smallest 13 monts- then to the art museum and pool the next day. More sightseeing the following then plane rides home with all the kids on friday. I actually drove home from the airport. DH was "tired"

I felt horrible for two full weeks. I tried going back to work after 6 days but only lasted part of the day, then went home for the rest of the week.

There's no possible way to know how you'll feel. I'm usually pretty tough, but this surgery kicked my butt.

I had my surgery on Friday 9/16/05 and was back to work on Monday 9/19/05, I'm an accountant and sit on my behind most of the time, but I felt fine and have had no problems. The following weekend hurricane Rita came through and I was helping husband pack up and move stuff around. But I would be careful with the lifting.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
