I haven't lost anything since I got filled at the beginning of June. I lost 5 lbs right after the fill, but nothing since. In fact, I am having trouble keeping that 5 lbs gone. I think next week I am going to drink a Protein Drink for dinner.< /p>

People say not to drop your calories, but that's the only thing that works for me!

Denise,

How many calories a day are you eating? I log into FITDAY and have figured I am eating about 1200-1500 calories a day (which is FAR less than ever before!) and go to the gym about 4 times a week and have had thyroid testing to see why I have been on a 4 month plateau. I am "satisfied" with the calories I eat now and worry I will be hungry all the time with less.......but it might be the only solution to jump start!

Any thoughts?

I was banded on 3-20-07 and have lost 28 lbs, I seem to play with the same couple of lbs. I also only seem to lose when I 'm on the liquid after a fill. I also use fit day and get between 1200 and 1500 cal per day. I know is a lot less then I use to eat, but I'm not losing very fast and its very discouraging to see lots of people already at 50-70 lbs mark. I don't really have any ideas unless you excersize more or cut calories more, drink Water (which I guilt of not getting enough in), and change up your diet. Good luck to all this is a very trying time.

28 pounds in 3 months is awesome. I don't think that is too slow. It is probably safer than losing 70 pounds in 3 months. It sounds like you are doing great. I know our metabolism gets screwed up after a lot of yo yo dieting.

You know, you may need to reduce your calorie intake if you have hit a plateau. Because you caloric intake is based on your weight and since you have had a drastic weight change, it may be time to alter your caloric intake. I also agree with you on drinking plenty of fluids. You also may be ready to step your exercise regime up a notch too. After losing around 30 pounds, you probably feel better and can probably push yourself a little more.

Keep the faith and keep trying! Good luck and keep us posted.

I eat between 1000 and 1,200 calories per day. I exercise 5-6 days a week.

I usually go on a long plateau, then all of a sudden I will drop a few. It's waiting in between when I am on the plateau that is so hard.

I am going to use up all the stuff in my fridge and then try to do mostly Protein Shakes and see if I can break this plateau. I know someone that drinks mainly Protein shakes and only one real meal, and she is losing like crazy.

The thing I hate the most when I stay on liquids is the potty problem. I hate being constipated!

I am guilty of slow sipping after meals too or not waiting long enough after meals before I start drinking.

I didn't see my last post, so here it is again. I was banded on March 3, 2006 and have only lost 29 pounds so far. I am SOOO frustrated. I am sick of people saying hang in there. Seemingly they have not been in my shoes so they really don't know how I am feeling. I need hear "hang in there" from someone who is feeling like me. Here's my vote for the start of a group that feels like me.

so, "Hang in there"

Janice

I do put benefiber in some things. It kind of makes me wonder how good that stuff is on the body. I have spilled some on the counter before and it left a white stain on the counter that I couldn't remove. It makes me wonder what it's doing inside the body.

Janice, I know exactly how you feel. I lost the majority of my weight when I was on the 4 weeks of the liquid diet post op. It's so hard to be on a constant diet, eat less, and not lose. It's very frustrating. I don't even think I could handle any more fill either. I can barely eat now, and I am still not losing.

Denise, As you can see I have the same problem, and it is VERY frustrating. I was banded April 26th and lost the majority of my weight on the post op diet as well, even though I have gained some of it back. It is very hard. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but i'm going to make an appointment to see the fill doctor and see what else we can do about it. I didn't pay all this money just to fail at this too. I'm going to try to work harder at eating the right foods and I'm going to get my butt to the gym and see if that doesn't make a difference. Besides, it's summer, so it's off to the swimming pool for me!

I'm thinking this just like a marriage the honeymoon period is over and now I have to fight to make it work. I will not be divorcing my band anytime soon. I could have gained 28 lbs instead of losing 28 lbs.

I is so hard, maybe the hardest thing I have everydone. I figured the weight would just fall off and it is not. I know I'm not eating nearly what I use to eat, but the weight just doesn't seem to want to leave. I guess I have been to good a customer over the last 30 years or so.

Hang in there I'm sure it will leave at some point and time.

Carol

What's the most frustrating is I thought once I had the right fill, I would start to lose. I can barely eat now, and I am still not losing. I figure I am going to have to drop some more at some point. I am not eating junk food, I go to the gym and my portions are very small. That HAS to make a difference!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
