Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread

Recommended Posts

OK guys, I have read everyone's threads - I joined WW (for the 6th time) 2 months after my band. I told my leader that I had the band but still believed in the WW program (always lost weight but always regained - thusly the band). She said WW did not like band but she would work with me and adjust the program for me...She has done just that and I am now down 73 pounds - my surgery was 7-7-11 - so to say the least, I am happy. The people that I sti with at the meetings all know I have the band and they help me adjust receipes to fit ME. My Doctor is not happy tha I go to WW as he said they count calories and they allow sweets, carbs etc and he does not. Well, welcome to my "real world" - it contains calories, carbs and sweets, just less of them and not all the time.

I love this site and I love my WW meetings - it keeps me honest to myself and the scale. I write down everything that I eat (even the bad stuff). WW on line helps me track my weight, Protein and waters.. I am so glad you guys started talking about WW and the band as I thought I was the only one out there trying to do two things at the same time. Hey, if it works for you - then go for it. I am happy and loosing and that is all that matters!.

Happy weight loss to everyone and keep this thread going !

i agree with you

i was the original weight watcher with tuna and fresca

i love the diet as well but couldn't keep it off

hopefully the band will help with this

sounds like you have found the correct combination

good luck

Like you, I've been on WW for several years and I lost weight on it, but I couldn't keep it off and, like you, that's why I had the surgery. WW isn't a diet, its just a way of eating healthy and if you go over your points for the day - well, you have extra weekly points you can use, so you don't have to feel guilty. And aside from a very few things, you can eat pretty much what you like (in moderation). I cook with WW recipes a lot, and my husband usually can't tell the difference (except for the eggplant lasagna! LOL!) Just like the band, WW is a tool to help you meet your goals.

And for those of you who DON'T want to go to meetings (which I don't), you can just do the WW online. You can keep your journal there, they have great recipes and exercise tips, and you always have the support here if you need a boost.

I'm SO glad there are others doing WW!

Woo hoo! Good for you! FYI - if you complete your profile on WW, it will tell you how many points per day and week at the top right hand of the page of your food journal. Browse their recipes - I'm making the spaghetti bolognese tonight!

So glad I just found this thread! I joined WW on Saturday so today is day 3 for me on WW. I was banded 2 years ago and lost 50 pounds. Then I just stopped. So now I have joined the gym and joined WW I am doing a spin class at the gym M/T/W/F and the elliptical at home one day during the weekend. So I work out now 5 days out of 7 and feeling fine :) Just confused about the dam point thing. They say I should eat 32 points a day and to me that sounds like soooooooo much. One of my friends told me I was not loosing because I was not eating enough, could that be true? Also wondering if we could start a "WHAT DID YOU EAT TODAY ON WW" thread.....what do you think? then we could all see what everyone else is eating and how many points everything has. Still cant wrap my head around fruit being 0 points!

Amy,

I drink pure Protein shakes from costco. They have 160 calories 1g sugar and 3og protein. I LIVE ON THEM! My lap band doc turned me onto them.

http://www.premiernutrition.com/protein-shake.html

is it really bad if you dont eat all your points? How long have you been doing WW? Are you loosing with this plan?

I am so glad to see this thread going again. I posted on here in September but no one else was posting. I was banded in September last year. I have only lost 20 lbs. I am very disappointed with my weight loss. I was thinking of going back to weight watchers too. When I went to get my fill last month they told me WW & the band work well together. I would love to join you ladies. I really need some support & encouragement. I am wondering if the band was really worth it.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
