Giril - he is absolutely adorable!!! What a sweet kid! That is a wonderful way to look at it...made me tear up...

I'll end my sap here as well. People used to ask my brother when I first came home, "Where'd you get that cute little sister." He'd respond, "At a Hotel."....they met the social worker at Holiday Inn in Tampa. That is still funny to this day.

My youngest girl is my ham. She's a handful but a sweetheart and too smart for her own good. I don't have many pictures of her not making a crazy face. I think the one on my profile with she and I - she's goofin' off.

OH, BTW - if Renee (my youngest) was a boy her name would have been Dalton. We had it picked out...had to search for Renee. I was originally told she was a boy. Surprise!

Gosh, I just went to Wal-mart for a bit, now I have to catch up on all the posts. Where do I start.

Adoption - We started talking to Zachary when he was about 2 about adoption. We decided that the word "adoption" needs to be a household word. Not over used, but known. We told him that he did not come from mommy's belly and that the part in my belly that carried babies was broken. (Which it was - PCOS) And that God knew that we needed a baby boy and He knew that Zachary needed a mommy and daddy. We have always been open and honest with him. Of course, he is 11 now and knows about the birds and the bees.

He was neglected when he was a newborn, so much so that my cousin who was the foster parent thought he had a hearing problem. She was a smoker as well. He had a horrible case of bronchitis when he was 3 months old.

The three of has us have been blessed. Most of the time we forget he is adopted. Loves bond I guess.

Renewed - Drew is a cutie patootie!!!!

Leslie - Thank you for sharing about your adoption. Yahoo 2 pounds.

Kathy and Renewed - God has surely bless the both of you and the kiddos.

Georgia... how's the ankle?

Leslie... 2lbs! Yeah!

I took the dog for a long walk today. The weather is absolutely beautiful. I don't think the dog likes my new found energy... she just wanted to stop and lay down in the shade, but I kept her moving!

Kathy - your children are precious!

Ah - so the reverse is true...instead of her "walking you" which is usually the case, you are walking her. LOL That's too funny!

I'll bite - gotta show ya'll my little ones...

Leslie... they are beautiful. I see the "ham" thing going on in Renee's eyes. She'll keep you laughing! Your other daughter appears to be a thinker, full of thoughts and ideas.

I am freaking out. I have been looking almost obsessively for a wii fit and today I went back to school shopping for my son and he asked if we could into gamestop at the mall to look for a wii fit since we were just passing by. I was thinking "yeah right...like this little store is actually going to have one" sooooo....I asked....and they DID!!!

So my kids and I have been playing around on it for a few hours and here are my thoughts on something I wanted sooo badly.

Cons: I think renewed said it in an earlier post, most games don't get your heart rate up. There is some running in place games that do but they don't require the board. I hope that the step aerobics gets better..I don't know if you earn harder levels for it. There is too much down time between each 1-2 minute exercise to keep your heart rate up. I wish several of the minigames were atleast a few minutes longer. Although I LOVED the bmi tracking tool, I felt horrible when my 7 year old got on for body measurements and he was in obese category. I just explained that now we get to have a lot of fun while we get healthy.

Pros: I really worked a lot of muscles in my body that don't ever get used and even though I didn't feel like my heart rate was really that increased I did break a sweat doing a lot of those games. The yoga poses were something I wasn't even thinking about when I bought the game and I really enjoyed doing them. I think this is a GREAT tool to tone your body. I love that it tracks your bmi and your amt of time and you can even set your weightloss goals on it. Strength training exercises are pretty good and the balance games crack me up. Sometimes I get to laughing and it really throws my balance off!

Now I will have to add wii fit into my daily exercise...on top of the running and DDR...I never thought I could enjoy exercise this much!

Don't we have some cute little kiddos in our crew. I will post one of Dalton when I get home. The one I posted is Dylan. I can't post my foster kids because of privacy. That is why I haven't created a family album in my profile. It just wouldn't be a complete album without all of my kiddos.

Gotta get ready to go. I'll post more tonight.

TTFN!!

Hello All, I am new to this tread. I was banded on 1/2/008 by Dr. K in Aurora, CO. I love my band and have lost all but abt 16 lbs. I have been hearing about the Couch to 5k and today saw this thread, so I thought I would check it out. It looks like a lot of fun, so I am going to try it today. I will let you know how it goes.:smile2::ohmy:

Week 4 day 2 done. It did not get any easier today! I pushed through and finished though. Every week I look to the following week and wonder how the heck I am going to do it... once again, next week looks challenging. Maybe I should quit looking ahead?

This has been a very active thread today! I don't even know where to start to catch up with all of you.

Georgia - all I can say is ewwwww to the snake. Snakes and bugs freak me out! I hope that you don't have anymore unwanted visitors and that your ankle feels better soon.

bahotmomma - welcome and good luck. This is lots of fun! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have been.

Bonnie - congrats on the wii fit! I'm so jealous.

To all of you wonderful mom's... I admire you so very much. You have hearts of gold and the pictures of your children are beautiful. I will have to post some pictures of my little darlings soon.

Bahotomamma (Denise) welcome! Good luck on your first run and keep us posted. We are all spread out from week 1 runners through to triathaletes, so we're all in this together. I'm on week 2.

Mamma - nice new photo - is this the new hair do? If so, very nice!! If not, I like it anyways :smile2:.

It was so beautiful here today weather wise... no hummidity (I hate that), not too hot and sunny. So I took the dog for another walk. The kids were too tired from playing all day, and my DH pulled a muscle running last night, so they stayed home and I just powered through the walk. This time the dog was into the walk and we did about 4 km in 40 min. Felt great!

Hopefully my run tomorrow will go better than yesterday's.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
