Oh THE BURN!!!

After reluctantly dragging myself out of the house to attempt my belated day 2 of week 2, I felt as if my legs were going to give out! Ow ow ow ow ow!!

The burn got progressively worse through the 4th jog interval. Then it remained constant. Thank God for the walk segments. There's a lot to be said for taking too many days off (and not exercising at all)!

But, now that it's over, I hear the Rocky music again!!! And it never sounded so sweet! sport-smiley-5544.gif

FINISHED week 1 - Although I may repeat it.

Day 1 was hard and I was thrilled that I was able to finish.

Day 2 was easier for me.

Day 3 UGGGghh!!! But I did it!

Sugarbean -- congratulations! You are on your way!

I felt the same way, and thought I would repeat week 1. I went ahead and tried week 2 since there were less intervals (only having to jog 6 times was a plus for me instead of what felt like a hundred in week 1.) I found that week 2 is really no more difficult than week 1. Now, week 3 is another story, I don't think I'm ready for it!

Also, congratulations on your weight loss. You have done an amazing job! I bet it feels great. I notice that we are about the same weight now with about the same goal. I'm going to have to keep my eye on you for motivation! You go girl!

I am going to press on to week 3 next week, but man I am thinking it is going to kick my butt.......

Everyone is doing so well. It sure is fun doing this with all of you!!

I didn't think it was too bad. My running partner stayed right by my side. Don't be too impressed - he is a Yorkshire Terrior and he LOVE this walk/run thing!!!! As soon as I get the leash he get excited. He stay right by my side- he doesn't pull to lead or lag behind. How sad is that; I run as fast as a Yorkie!!!!:)

I think I will do week 2 Sunday Monday and Tuesday. My surgery:tt2: is Wednesday. How long after surgery do you have to wait to run? Oh my gosh, did I just say "WAIT" to run. I really am proud to achieve exercise goals as well as weight loss goal.

I am so proud of all of you, you keep me motivated.

Let's have fun!

Lynn:lol:

Okay, I know I'm a little late coming into this but I'm going to start on Monday. I bought a pair of running shoes yesterday and I'm excited to get going. I'm still pretty heavy, so I worry about not being able to do it but I'm going to give it my all.

Everyone has been doing so good. Keep up the good work!

I do live very close to Green Bay. Not a Packers fan though. More of a Philly Eagles man.

Ok Ill give you a run down of today. Not Couch to 5k but it got me where i am today.

I did a Full Duathlon today and about died lol!

The 5k run the first 1/2 mile was all uphill..then i finished the 5k in 31mins (ok for the amount of hills for me)

Then i cycled 30K (18miles) and it was SOOO hilly. I have never done that many hills. Of course i bought a new saddle and tried her out today which wasnt the smartest thing to do. I know i would of been sooo much easyier on a Road bike instead fo my mountain bike.

I got up to 36mph coming down one of the Hills:eek:

Then another 5k..boy my legs had trouble going up that hill again after coming off the bike.

I made it though. 2hr 39mins. The winner was 1hr 40min:eek: but he is a pro Triathlete (and my coach too )

Hard to believe i could keep my heart rate up for over 2.5hrs.

After the race i started feeling a lil dizzy and seeing some spots in my eyes . So i got some Water Melon and banana and i was ok.

Let me see if i can post a pic of the hill that kicked my butt

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
