Hi guys,

My surgery date is July 10. I have been on the pre-surg diet for 10 days now which sounds like its a little different from most of the others I read on here. If I make my Protein Shakes with Water, I can also choose a lean meat to eat 3 times a day, which is nice. I haven't lost as much weight as I thought I would though, only about 8 lbs. Anyway my question is this, on the day before surgery (Wednesday) I'm supposed to have Clear Liquids only with no red food coloring. Does that mean I can have other colors of Jello? What did you guys eat during the clear liquids phase? Thanks! :)

I know what you mean.....I have been on a liquid diet since last wednesday and I have only lost 3lbs. Anyway, clear liquids means broth, tea, jello, but no red. Try sugar free popcicles too. Yeah, it's okay to have other colors.....at least all the clear liquids diets I have been on allowed different colors other than red. My surgery date is July 16th. I have to go on clear liquids the day before too.:)

Charlene K, Hi I just wanted to say I am being banded on July 16th also. I have been on the 2 week Optifast diet and clear liquids the last day. I wish you the best. Keep in touch.

Cool! I am on Bariatric Advantage. I bought a Majic Bullet the other day for the shakes and boy it really makes good shakes. I also am adding sugar free syrups that I use for lattes. The chocolate with orange Syrup is good. Yes, keep in touch. Have you been to the 50 thread? That is where I am most of the time. Look for it under the "fifties". Take care! I too, wish you a very successful banding.:)

Charlene K. I purchased the Magic Bullet too but have not used it yet. What are you making your shakes with? Are you mixing them with the Bariatric Advantage? I am on the Optifast but I got the premixed ones. I am anxious to use mine too. I wish you the very best and I will check into the 50's, haven't been over there in a while.

I had my surgery July 3rd so I'm on my first day of "full liquids" -- according to my dr's diet plan I can drink Soups, Protein Drinks, yogurt drinks and even watered down cream of wheat! Not really hungry today though. Not like day after surgery or even yesterday. I'm down about 21 pounds since I started my pre-op diet. I'm not really in pain just some minor discomforts -- the big incision is "tight" so I can feel it but I wouldn't call it pain. The shoulder comes and goes. I've done some walking -- the last few days have been perfect for walking. I've had a few hic-ups and was able to burp without too much problem. I'm tired but it could be that I took some codeine in the middle of the night to help me sleep better. I think it's making me drowsy today so I'm going to try and stay off it today and tonight.

Good luck to those are getting banded this month!

What causes the shoulder pain?

What causes the shoulder pain?

The gas they use during the surgery is what causes the shoulder pain. hope that was helpful.

The shoulder pain is referred pain from your diaphragm. It gets stretched during surgery and is irritated. The nerve endings for it are near the nerves for your shoulder, so your brain gets confused and thinks it is your shoulder hurting! Anesthesia has nothing to do with it.

Well, here I go. I am all packed (except for my laptop) and I am ready to head to Detroit. Surgery is 1:00 on Tuesday. Nervous  yes...but I am ready.

I don't mind pain...I have had 2 csections and several other surgeries so I am good with that...not scared about the surgery...I work in the field so I know what to expect there....am worried this wont work....gotta be positive!!!!

Good luck to all!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
