Who's Getting Banded in July?

Recommended Posts

Wow - every time I begin to whine about my life and how hard it is, I read about someone who is going through REAL difficulties and realize that I have nothing to whine about - so instead of whining, I'll be sending you good thoughts. I am so sorry that you are going through such a difficult time right now. When you are feeling weak, please know that there are tons of us on this board wishing you good thoughts and strength and love. :)

Mackie, I'm praying for you and your husband. The puffy part just above your port incision is probably your port. It's not always directly underneath the scar.

Joiful, I'm going in next Wednesday. My preop appointment yesterday went well, so all is in place for B-Day. :-) Thanks for asking!

I am 3 weeks out and feel really good. I haven't lost any more weight even though I have at least cut our 2,000 calories a day. So that part is disappointing but I know it will have to come off sooner or later. So I will weight. Still haven't had my favorite ice cream and that was the hugest problem for me. That has been over 4 weeks.

I sometimes go home and go to bed and my husband has to come to my location and close his to cover my place which is busier. Watch out all July Banders don't let the heat get you. I did that last week end and have to leave about got sick and went to bed. So I think after surgery it is harder for you body to handle the heat.

I'm so glad to hear you are feeling good.

It's probably more difficult to keep hydrated, and you need extra fluids in the heat. I'm glad you are listening to your body's needs. :-)

Hi: I was banded July 23 by Robert Quaid at the Harmony Surgery Center in Fort Collins, Colorado. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Quaid or the Surgery Center!

The surgery was incredibly easy: I was in the OR from about 11:30am until about 12:30pm; finally roused myself from the anesthesia about 5:30pm; and was walking the halls that same evening. I've had very little discomfort (no pain) and the only problem really was that the pain meds prescribed that I took once I got home made me sick to my stomach. I'm not even taking Tylenol now. The surgery center was wonderful: one nurse per patient and only five rooms: the staff was very attentive and supportive -- all the nurses signed a get well card that they gave me when I left! I would very highly recommend Dr. Quaid and the Harmony Surgical Center.

Two things surprised me: I was very hungry after the surgery! And the hunger lasted until today (day four after surgery) when I started eating baby Cereal and yogurt. The other surprise was that I came home weighing two pounds MORE than when I went into surgery! I know it's due to all the IV fluids etc but still....!

Please don't worry about your upcoming bandings; I hope you all have as easy a time as I have. Best luck to everyone!

hey since someone is always posting on here can someone tell me where you are susposed to put the html code for the weightloss ticker so it can show up when I post? I looked on the signature page and I cant figure it out.. thanks.. I know I am lame :tt2:

When you complete your ticker, or update it, if you are using the same place I did, toward the bottom of the page you'll see several boxes of text with labels. You want the box that says "bbCode". Copy the text that is in the box and paste it into your sig file area. Check it with the preview function. I seem to recall that the HTML URL tags showed up, so I removed them and then everything looked fine.

Hope this helps!

I agree. Another tip..... Gas X Strips. It really helps the bloating and gas. I was banded 7/16 and I have been taking one in the morning and one in the evening.

Wow- I'm down 18 pounds in 3 weeks! It's a great feeling...but I am SO hungry. I'm on day 8 of my post-op diet and really struggling with the boring Jello and Protein Shakes. But other than that, I feel good. Took my doggie to the park today and ran errands like normal! I can't believe that I was in surgery this time 8 days ago :tt2:

Anyway- hope everyone is doing well. I really love our group and I love to see how everyone is progressing. The good thing is that we are all in this together :biggrin2:

Much love.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
