Im a patient of Dr. Rosett at Mercy and I can say that I've had a good experience with them, so far. I think the staff is wonderful and I've always had a good connection with them. I've only had 1 fill and I know I need another, my appt is Oct 5, so I hope that it goes well. I think that they promote good habits that people need to stick with rather than getting a quick fix. But at the same time I can understand where you're coming from. I hope that you find what you need and wish you the best. :tongue2:

Thanks soooooooo much! I was able to go there on yesterday. I had to pay a tranfer fee of 240.00 olus the 95.00 for the fill but it was well worth it. I was in and out in 30 minutes. I got a restiction and the staff was wonderful.

I love mercy and garteful for what they have done for me . however, it seems as they you have to beg them for fills and its not fair. Ive been banded for over a year. Yes, i lost weight but i was working out 5 days a wekk 2.5 hours a day. I really had not had restriction and they would not listen to me. then when i stopped working out and struggled with maintaining my diet I gained 10 lbs because I was really never at a sweet spot. I do not know if I would ever return but for now I am satisfied with my doctor at synchony health. good luck to you and your journey. I do not want a quick fix I just need my doctor to listen to me and realize that I do know sumthing about my body. be blessed

Hi I also had my surgery at Mercy Hospital in December

of 2008 received one fill. They really need to close that

department down because everything they said they would do they have not done for there patients. I am looking into seeing a doctor at Northwestern hospital because I have not receive a checkup at all. I did call and complain but nothing happen. It is a shame that they are getting away with how they treat there patients and no one is speaking up. I complained to my insurance about them I do not recommend anyone to have the lapband surgery at Mercy Hospital in Chicago. Also I have been trying to get my medical records paid for them and have not received them They discuss me because lately my stomach have been feeling

really bloated.

:sad:hi everyone!!

I live in chicago and am looking for a follow-up and fill doctor that accepts medicaid (public aid). Does anyone know of any good doctors in my area that do? Do you know of any inexpensive fill centers? I had the surgery at mercy hospital in february of this year. I have had one fill of 4cc's in a 8cc standard band and can still eat almost as much as before (although i don't understand why because i have had a fill). I am loosing about 1 pound a week, but i am working out 1 hour a day, 6 days a week and starving myself so that i wont overeat in an effort to drop the weight. I need a doctor who is alot more aggressive and doesn't judge their patients as a group. Everyone in my group is having the same issues with the program, we need fills. The doctors at mercy need the "numbers" to keep their program going and i think this may be why the doctors are not as aggressive about the adjustments so that we will have to keep coming back. I dont really know what is going on. I don't want to become discouraged, i'm so hungry all the time. Please help....

You guys are really great here, love ya....

where is this place that fills are $95

I too am on Medicaid. I go to Dr. Vitelli at Highland Park Hosp in Downers Grove. You are in and out in 15 minutes, he gives liberal fills, and Medicaid pays for fluoroscopy. He charges 150 cash or 100 cash without fluoroscopy. You might call him to see if he will give a discount since you are on Medicaid. He is wonderful and treats many patients who have had there band done in Mexico. His number is 312996-2077 and his email is jvituic@comcast.net. Tell him susan o'dwyer recommended you! Keep me posted...

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
