Come on, please??? I'm begging you! I don't want to feel like the only one who has screwed up already!

1. Pre-op diet? What's a pre-op diet? (That was my first big mistake.)

2. In the last 48 hours I have eaten a whole baked potato, skin and all. Two Pintos and cheese from Taco Bell and a chalupa. Yes, SHELL AND ALL!!! God help me I didn't even feel stretched or bloated or anything. I'M SUPPOSED TO STILL BE ON liquids UNTIL THE ELEVENTH!!!!!:mad2::bored:

I vowed to go back on all liquids today but my hunger is back full force and I am not a happy camper. I know the purpose of liquids is healing so I am forcing myself to comply now but I can't believe I'm going to have to white knuckle this for months and months. I kept praying I would be one who said, "I just never feel hungry."

By the way, please don't come in with a lame confession like, "I only drank 60 ounces of Water today instead of 64." or you WILL be responsible for me killing myself. :bored::rolleyes:

I need some dirt to make me feel better about myself, people!!!!

Just curious - when were you banded? I wanted to compare......

Okay here goes for me:

I ate KFC chicken wings yesterday (4 of them)

a small serving of mashed potatoes

and cole slaw

FELT NOTHING -- (I go for a fill on the 11th)

As a snack I have indulged in 3 Reduced Fat Oreos w/6-8 oz of milk.... YES TOGETHER.... and then lieterally wanted to cry myself to sleep.....

OH YEAH and just about an hour ago I walked by a co-worker's desk and popped a handfull of reece's pieces in my mouth -

:bored:--

Gibson,

I confess that I'm truly worried about you landing back in the hospital with emergency surgery to remove your band.

Eating what you are right now is dangerous. I hope your doctor told you why you have the restrictions you do. It isn't to make us miserable it's to help us heal.

I'm sorry if this wasn't the kind of post you were expecting here but I felt compelled to say it.

Tina, I was banded on 2/25. Thank God I'm not craving sweets or I'd be in big trouble.

Lisa99, Thank you for your concern. Of course I know that it is dangerous. That's why I said I'm stopping it today. You obviously do not have the extreme compulsive overeating issues that I have or your lapband journey wouldn't have been mistake free. Congratulations on your success!

So far the worst thing I did was eat corned beef hash and lots of it. I had such pressure on my chest that i couldnt beleive it. I remember someone saying drink pineapple juice(it helps the stuck feeling) when this happens but I cant allergic. So I drank lemon juice and went for a walk it took about 30 min. but the stuck feeling past, thank GOD.

I think if that would have gone down without problem I would have found something else to try. Unfortunately this is the battle we are all struggling with to some degree.

Ok so I dont have a confession, Heck I dont even have my band yet. (getting it on the 3rd of April) I am however reading everything on this sight that I possibly can and this particular issue is one that concerns me. The first week everyone says you arent hungery so you really dont feel anything. But the second week your hunger comes back with a vengance! That scares me and reading all this conferms my fears. I am hoping however, that with all the support from all these people who are in the same boat will help me stay strong. I to am an emotional eater. I think food is for EVERY occasion in life. I just pray that I will make it through the first 6weeks. Good luck to everyone....

I really wish I HAD some confessions! Then I could explain why I'm plateaued! I did indulge somewhat today though. I went to Sonny's BBQ (one of my favorite binge and stuff yourself so full you can't move places) and order the lunch portion (something I've never done!) of pulled pork, with sides of sweet potato and baked Beans. There was about 5 oz of pork which I drenched with mustard BBQ Sauce and the potato was a small one. I didn't/couldn't finish all the meat and potato and barely touched my beans. Oh and I told them to hold the bread! I can definitely say the band works! I'm not eating nearly what I used to. I just wish it would result in losing weight. I've probably had more carbs today than I've had in a while (had a Carnation Instant Breakfast this morning). But other than that I've been true blue!

I don't have a confession but I wanted to reply to bthin4me. I just wanted to say that I don't think you should assume that whatever is posted here will be true for you, too. Nobody is perfect, but we are all different. So focus on making yourself successful. As a fellow emotional eater, I would suggest therapy. It is helping me find healthier ways to deal with my emotions and find out why I started eating emotionally in the first place. I'll be three weeks post-op tomorrow and I've done pretty well. Good luck!

Some do, some don't. I'm four weeks out and still have restriction. Some people never even need a fill. They get plenty of restriction from the band itself. If you are one of those that lose restriction early on, just try to eat as much Protein as you can and drink lots of fluids between meals. It will help with the hunger.

I was feeling bad enough about the ice cream.

It's not that I don't WANT to eat a chalupa. But fear of my band slipping is far greater than any of my compulsions, thankfully! LOL

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
