I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Wow. I am REALLY surprised that he removed it after only a week, unless there was something he saw that was REALLY wrong with it. What did he say when you asked him to take it out? did he try and talk you out of it?

She didn't say anything was wrong with her band and after one week it would probably have been too early to tell anyway.

The only story I heard so far was she wanted a band and got it, she wanted it removed ( couldn;t handle post op recovery, which sounded normal) and so it was removed. End of story.

But you really do want to incite people, don;t you.

Just more "Feed me Seymour".

Such good news, Yaz. Hoping the fill works for you. I'm curious. You said your best friend is getting married and asked you to "come out" in her wedding. Now, is that "coming out" in a good way or just phrased wrong. No problem either way....just interested cuz I am a true believer in people coming out.

apples did you mean like chasing the rainbow coming out?

Like the others have said, you need to discuss this with your doctor. I realize it seems impossible right now and you want to get back to normal...but have you given it an honest try? The post-op diet is not forever. I guess your doctor didn't see the signs of depression prior to surgery otherwise, they would have never performed it. Sorry you are not happy! Cathy

Hello everyone! I have been reading this forum for about 2 1/2 months. I finally have my surgery date for April 30th. Since making the app. I have been very back and forth on whether or not this is a good choice. It is a scary decision and it has to be the right thing for you. I just want to thank everyone for being an inspiration. Many of you have brought tears to my eyes, knowing that there are people out there that have gone through their lives the way I have. I now know that this is the best thing that I can do for my life and that I am not a complete failure thanks to all the supportive and loving people here. You all have to remember that you are beautiful people and that you ALWAYS have been, at any size. Thank you for touching my heart.

Yea, we are a pretty great group of people here. Maybe going to the before and after pictures would help you feel better until you get into your doctor.

Maybe you are going to be like the other poster who once they got their

food and gatoraide felt better. I don't think you are going to find many people here that hate their bands. You could try sending a private message to someone who has had their band removed. I know the band isn't for everyone, but the majority of us love our bands.

I eat whatever I want in small portions. It's only the first four weeks or so that you have to be strict in what you eat/drink.

Now if the band would just not allow chocolate to go through, I would be thrilled!

ya that will help see the before/after, and you will change your mind, my doc. was really mean to me :-), he kept me on the liquid diet for complete 30 days, and i survived that, and i am happy with myself now, dont give up soon.

thats all i have to say.

Darlin' I know how you feel...As soon as I was banded I wanted the darn thing out...However, it took me 5 yrs and many many complications later to get a TEAM of doctors to remove the darn thing....I hope you have better success in having it removed than I did....My orginal doctor wouldn't even talk to me or remove the band...He blew me off.....So, I had a lot to deal with....Just in the mean time, be careful from vomiting because that caused mine to break into 3 separate pieces....Best of luck to you.

Brittly, just give it time. It is reversible, however, you are still in recovering from surgery and have implemented a change in your life. Give it some time. Rest assured that you are not different from everyone else, nor are you a different person. You are just recovering. Give it some time. If you can't live with it, you can have it removed.

You might also consider some counseling if you think that your identity is so intertwined with food and eating that you cannot seperate the two.

Good luck. Keep on truckin'.

OMG! As I've said before... I felt like a freak right after I got my band. I had to eat like a supermodel and felt like I stood out among my peers like a sore thumb!

Fast forward a few months... I feel AMAZING! I'm able to eat pretty much anything that I want... only in smaller quantities. It is soooo incredible to me to look back on what I considered a 'normal' meal and now realize that what WAS a single portion (in my warped fat mind).. could now feed me for 2-3 days! I can now say that I actually FEEL like a REAL person without hordes of guilt about overeating! I feel like I FINALLY fit into society. I have a LOT of weight to lose yet, but I already feel like an entirely different person. I no longer look in the mirror and see a fat slob. I now see someone who is slowly, steadily becoming the person he always hoped that he could be. If you had asked me a couple months ago whether or not I thought that I would ultimately feel this way.. and I probably couldn't have given you an answer. NOW? I feel like I have been given a new lease on life. It literally brings tears to my eyes to be given the gift of my dear friend.... MY lapband!

Keep chugging along. Things get better far faster than you could EVER imagine!

I am thinking of you and sending you warm and fuzzy success vibes so that you can one day feel the same as I do!

Wow how cool you have something to really drive you. 2 sizes smaller NO pressure there. I have no doubt in my mind that you can do it. With or without a fill you know what you have to do. The dieting part is not easy, but it can happen. It is the minute we quit doing W/W or Jenny Craig or Atkins whatever your diet of choice may be and when we aren't gung ho working out and going to the gym, that is when the beauty of the band will come into play. Because it is after all that hard work and determination, the weight creeps back on soooooooo fast and easy. that's not fair it doesn't fall off that easy. I am learning from my body bugg (the one's the biggest losers wear) that to lose weight, you have to burn a heck of a lot more than you consume. I have to create a defecit of over 1,000 calories a day just to lose 2 pounds a week. I currently am 4 weeks postop with my appetite back with a vengence. Am I starving myself........no. I take in 1200-1400 cals a day. Do I endulge in something I have a taste for.......yes. Do I feel guilty.....no, I just don't eat half a pizza anymore, or half a bag of Snacks or a whole entree and an appetizer. Its uncanny how I only eat about 1/4 of what I used to. It feels wonderful. My weightloss has stalled for now (not a surprise) now it is just time to get moving. I am so proud of you. You have some of the most wonderful years ahead of you. I loved the 20's. I would have loved them more at an ideal weight of myself at 130 instead of 170-180. I was so stupid to pass things up because I thought I was too fat or ugly. My only regret in life is to not get my weight under control back then. You're awesome...........Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Don't give up on yourself, you are young and should be able to enjoy your life, if you got the surgery you are not happy with your physical self. Force your way through it, you are stronger than you think, lose a few pounds and then decide. Your system is probably out of balance allow it to even out, then make a rational decision with your doctor's imput. Good luck, I believe in you, just believe in yourself and stop selling yourself short!

Just hang in there, you'll return to normal soon. You will be able to eat anything you want, only difference is that you'll eat alot less of it! You can do it, wait until your first fill, then reconsider.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
