March 2022 Surgery Buddies

  • Popular Post

Hey Guys! So I have a date (again), it's March 8th - meaning my 2 week "liquid" diet will start Feb 22.

The short month of February makes me feel like I've been granted a shortcut somehow! Who else has a date for March??

  • Congratulations to all the March surgery dates. I was March 9 last year and boy what a year it has been so far. I am currently stuck at about 9 pounds from goal. I may have to add in more exercise to

  • Got a March 17th date a couple of weeks ago. Very excited and nervous. And very hopefully it doesn't get postponed for one reason or another. That would be so disheartening at this point.

  • Mindful Moment: I'm feeling all kinds of emotions today. It's this weird mix of fear, anxiety, elation, resolve, focus, and super-charged anticipation of my future self all at once. If you may be feel

Oh yeah, stress is what kicked this whole debacle off. And grief. I was 170lbs. in 2019. I had 5 major life events in a short span of time (3 months) and then I lost my baby 25weeks later . Devastation. always will be. But I don't have to stop living anymore.

I maintained 165-175lb average from with fitness and healthy foods. 11 years in the USAF.

I started spiraling after being seated directly across from abuser at a family wedding. The wedding coincided with the high stress life events. and it set off my eating.

Ugh, I am so sorry.

Thanks. I'm not sharing for anyone to feel bad.. I just want to share to maybe spur others to go down the rabbit hole bravely - if needed.

Oh I understand. Our issues with food arise from all kinds of things. People need to know they aren't alone and they aren't a failure. We've got to deal with the mental aspects of obesity. For many, obesity is a symptom and not the root problem. Good luck to you!

Same to you! I’ll be watching for you after your surgery!! Cheers
Omg I’m having such a hard time passing this BM I’ve tried about 4 times. I took miralax used a squatty nothings workingggg. Sorry to sound whiny tips? It hurts like hell

After some struggle with my insurance, I finally got to have my surgery March 9th. I get to move up to low fat, low sugar yogurt, jello, and pudding today. I've struggled with water intake, I'm worried I'll drink too much and rupture my healing line. Today I drank 12 Oz over an hour and I didn't feel any discomfort or anything, but the reading of others experiences makes me nervous.

I didn’t realize how many of my family members don’t want me to do this. This weekend I went to my brothers to give him his bday present. He thinks it’s an overreaction to my weight . I was watching my 600 lb life sfter work today and my support person who is coming with me told me that she doesn’t want me to have the surgery. In her defense, the imagery in that show is pretty graphic. Then this evening , I confirmed with my sister that she will check on my kiddos while I’m gone and she said she had her doubts too! Dang! I was counting on family to help my anxieties. I have needle issues and always have the vasovagal response. I am fearing that, more than the recovery! Anyway. I’m glad I found this forum. I love the positivity

Most of my family freaked out as well (except my brother, who said congrats). I found that focusing on the health benefits of the surgery tends to help get them in my corner…my physical AND mental health!

My brother had a similar response to yours, he said “that’s drastic”, my dad attempted to have a ‘talk’ with me about it - right before I cut him off and told him that I will not be shamed or made to feel bad. I kindly let him know that it’s none of his business and that I did not have to tell him anything about it.
These people love you but they only see through their perspective. They don’t realize that the support you need is encouragement and we’ll wishes and positive expectations.

I watched a lot of 600lb life leading up to surgery but have no interest in it after. It helped me to prepare by providing multiple scenarios - and my biggest take away from the show was the emotional aspect of what is causing us to eat the way we have been.

This is for you. You can do it and you will thrive!

I am experiencing the same thing and worried that I have already over done it and ruined my restriction. But alot of people in other threads have said that is normal in the liquid phase, once we get to purée and soft it will be more obvious. Hope that is true!!

6 more sleeps until my surgery! 8 days into my pre-op diet and my appetite is almost nil. I rarely feel hungry, but I am getting my protein in and following my groups plan. I've been in nesting mode and cleaning my house (and yelling at my family to keep it clean lol) like I always do before every surgery. How's everyone else doing?

A week from tomorrow is my surgery. 03/24. I fly out to Vegas on Monday. Pre op diet has been pretty good. Ive been drinking two protein shakes and one of my Leftover Jenny Craig meals. Im over my UTI and have used some of the urinalysis test strips to check my ketones. Im in fat burning mode, hopefully that means my liver is shrinking as expected
