Same boat I fell asleep at 750 last night and I’m usually a night owl.

Same here. I have been really tired. I also have now developed this nasty taste in my mouth that’s making me not want to eat anything.

Could be the Protein Shakes that leave a bad taste. That was happening to me. I had to start brushing my teeth like 4 times a day then it got better and not much of an issue now that I am having more than just Protein shakes all day.

Or, you could be in ketosis. If you are taking in a lot of Protein and not many carbs, it might be ketosis breath!

I had surgery 8/12. I've been eating sugar free peppermints to help with the bad taste and breath issues. I still haven't been able to start exercising. I don't have energy and I take mutlivitamins, sublingal B12 everyday. My diet is getting slightly better. I had a situation where I drank too soon after eating last week and it was terrible. Horrible pain and everything came back up. I won't do that again.

I’m 13 days po and I’m finally getting a bit more energy now I started purées! Have also learned never to trust a fart 🤦‍♀️ thank goodness I was at home.

On a side note, I suddenly love cooking for my husband.. I had lost all my previous love for cooking when I was diagnosed with IBS and had to start restricting so many different types of food and I just adore being able to cook without all those limitations!! It makes me happy and I’ve been cooking healthy yummy things for him to eat. He’s super happy too 🤣
I now am constipated for the first time in my life (had an MGB) and I am keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t go back to my IBS-D (I heard some people actually recovered from it after this surgery!!)

16 Days post Op and finally have more energy since starting puree phase.

Down 33 lbs. in 33 Days and looking forward to when I can workout again.

Measuring for and logging everything onto Baritastic App has been key to keeping track.

I have had 4 days of successive bowl movements and feel like I am getting closer to "normal."

Hi Summermoose. I had gastrc sleeve on 20/8 and 3 weeks post op. I had IBS too - i thinks its gone as it flared with large amounts of carbs and food. I was also very constipated first week but its tough tryna get Water done when ur not eating much either. Try senna tablets or movicol. Xx

Hi everyone, hope you are all recovering well. Week 5 here and starting chopped foods tomorrow. I think I am going to have some chicken Soup.

I am 6 weeks out and have only slowly added soft foods. I started with vegetable Soup for vegetables and they sat well and were great! I am a bit nervous about adding a lot of solid foods too fast. I did have a hernia repaired at the time of surgery so I was told to wait a little longer. I am stalled on the scale as well and not sure if I should add a bit of food. I walk about an 4 miles a day so maybe I should slow down on that. Any suggestions that helped with a stall? I am still dealing with the Constipation issue and have found a tea that seems to help every few days.

Hi Tiffany,

I am about 4 weeks out. I had a hernia repair as well. My weight loss has stalled as well. I have noticed that it usually takes about 2 days then it goes down about 1 pound. Warm Water is good for Constipation. It works almost right away. I have been having a hard time finding things to eat. I can’t stand the smell and taste of the Protein Shakes or anything else. Been drinking zero Powerade.

I will try the warm Water. I do drink the sugar free propel and crystal lite throughout the day. I don't seem to like water right now, so I don't drink enough of it. I don't drink the Protein Shakes much either, but I did buy some GENEPRO unflavored Protein Powder and mix it in things to make sure I get my Protein in everyday. I should probably not get on the scale everyday when I am in a stall! Hopefully things will get moving again in both areas lol.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
