Today is definitely better. I'm 3 days post-op. I finally got Cepacol lozenges for my sore throat and I'm doing much better with the Gatorade Zero and Protein Shakes. Anyone got any ideas for a Protein Shake? I've got 11 more days until the next phase.

Hi Everyone, just checking in to see how y’all are doing. I had surgery on June 1st and fell like I’m doing pretty well. Really struggling with “head hunger” but trying to turn it around when it appears and telling myself how lucky I am now that I don’t have to give in to it. Including the pre-op diet, it really took my body awhile to get used to not eating very much (feeling weak, light headed, etc.). But, I think My body has adjusted and I’m feeling much better. In addition I started with Vitamins a few days ago and that has helped as well. Starting to look at recipes I can tolerate, but that is just making me more hungry. How is everyone else doing?

You haven't had food yet since June 1st? I had surgery June 15th and now I am on liquids for two weeks. The Dietician said "please! give me two full weeks. The stomach has to heal. Even if you feel you can take a bite don't." Then I start the soft foods phase. Right now I am tired, no pain in the incisions or stomach. But, because I am not really getting much Protein, I feel weak. sugar free popsicle was awesome. 10g Protein broths I bought are okay but I can't eat all 8 oz. Same with Protein Shake, it takes a long time to SIP 8 oz beverages. I think fluffy scrambled eggs might be my first bite!

June 28! I'm getting so nervous. Where are the groups for all us June-ers after surgery? I want to know how everyone is doing. I'm so scared for the first couple weeks post op.

I had a sore throat after surgery, then ended up with a sore top palate of my mouth 🤦‍♀️ I had no idea what was going on. I was going to ask the surgeon, but then it cleared up after a couple days.

I have not deviated much from Premier Protein. It’s just easy.

That was the first thing I had on day 1 of Puree, and day 2. Today, I went with boiled egg.

I basically said this exact same thing to my husband! I can't wait to eat REAL food, even if it is just eggs. Yogurt isn't even on my ok list by my Dr. Told my husband I would LOVE some yogurt right now lol

I'm three weeks post-surgery, and doing well. There was very little pain after the first few days.

I'm on soft food now. Today I had 1.8 ounces of tenderloin steak and 2 ounces of mashed potatoes for Breakfast. lunch was a fried egg, half a turkey sausage patty, and half an English muffin. For dinner I had fish tacos: 3 ounces of fish, 2 small Mr. Tortilla tortillas, a tablespoon of guacamole and a tablespoon of salsa. The tacos were really tasty, but were either too much or I ate too fast, because it made me quite uncomfortable for an hour or so.

(Edit: I do best when I use a knife and fork to eat, taking very small bites and chewing until it's the consistency of applesauce. When I eat something with my hands like a taco, it's hard to be sure the bites are small enough.)

I had Protein Shakes mid-morning and mid-afternoon, so I think I'm getting enough Protein, but I fall behind on the Water.

In 5 weeks including the two-week pre-surgery diet, I've lost 29 pounds, and I fit into the next size smaller jeans with room to spare.

So don't be nervous. It will be great.

I started my soft foods yesterday and had a scrambled egg for breakfast…it tasted wonderful! For lunch I had 2 oz of chicken salad. For supper I had half of a lean cuisine meatloaf and mashed potatoes dinner.

Day 4 post-op: walking this morning was hard. I only managed 20 minutes and had to stop several times because I was out of breath. No more sore throat. It's getting easier to swallow. I'm learning to sip instead of gulp. I hope everyone is doing well and stay positive!

I am 6/15 surgery date and am just plain ole TIRED! I did great after surgery and had very little pain. No pain meds since day 2. I think the not eating and having a hard time getting more than 30 Protein in makes me weak. I can't wait to eat something real.

Probably should have made myself more clear. The program I’m on does full liquids for two weeks after surgery and then you can start with soft foods - whatever can be tolerated. I have started each day with one Protein Shake (can’t stand them but get it over with early in the day) and then add soft foods the rest of the day. I’ve been doing this for 12 days now. I was really tired, no energy - it suddenly yesterday I woke up feeling great! Not sure if it’s Vitamins (started them at two weeks) or being able to actually eat. I had very little pain after surgery so I feel very lucky. I love drinking Water and really pushed myself to be able to tolerate as much as possible after surgery so I feel like my intake is pretty good. I’m sort of at the lowish end of BMI for surgery so I know my weight loss will be slower than many but feeling good about where I am right now.

I had my surgery on June 17. Just trying to get my Protein in . I start my full liquid tomorrow. The pain is like a 3 from a scale of 1-10. I only have a little bit of gas .

What did u all drink during full liquids?

Are we able to have any Soup as long as it’s blended and strained?

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
