The surgery went fine, but the gases in the stomach from the surgery is almost killing me😳. And I feel like my mind jar starting right catch up with me, cause I keep thinking ”what have I done?!”…

Hang in there! I promise the gas pains will get better. They are the worst. By the time I hit my 3rd day I was feeling better and every day after that I saw gradual improvement. Big hugs ❤️

I have my date for the 23rd. Went in for a pre-op screening. Have to admit - I'm pretty nervous. Being at the hospital made it super real. I've been nervous about "going under the knife" the whole time.

I've been doing the liquid diet, and the past couple of days have been rough with the weakness. I definitely feel like I'm not getting enough calories. (It's after 5pm and I've had 280).

I'm pretty worried about how this will affect my job performance. I need my mind functioning at 100% and right now I feel like I'm at 40%. Also, the new routine will be very distracting and I need long periods of focus.

Any thoughts?

Glad to hear things are moving along. I can understand your concern about the impact on work. This is the busiest time of year for my job. Being on the liquid diet was definitely a distraction at times, but, I took the time to really dig in deep at work and distract myself. Not sure how my first day back tomorrow will go. Should be interesting as I definitely don’t feel quite 100% for the detailed work that needs to get done.

Congrats! I am four days post op and UP 4 lbs .....so disheartening!!!
I have heard that some people gain. It's normal. I follow this one girl on YouTube and she recommended not getting on the scale at all for the first couple of weeks and I think I might do that because I didn't lose anything for a couple of days and now I'm down 2 lb. Yes it can be disheartening.

Is anyone else experiencing extreme hunger pangs? Mine are so severe they wake me up at night. I have 9 more days on the liquid diet and I'm only allowed to have broth, popsicles, Jello nothing substantial.

YES!!!! I thought we were going to lose the hunger pains. I am also VERY tired because I fell like I am getting very little Protein. I just can't get thru a whole shake so I try to split it up in the day, but that gives me only 30 g. I have been doing popsicles for something different. I tried Jello yesterday and it was great but only 10 cal and no nutritional value. I know we are supposed to let the stomach heal but I have a week to go and just cannot even imagine another week of this!

I have been surprised to find that I do have some hunger first thing in the morning and then throughout the day. I try drinking some Water if it isn't my time to eat yet, which, seems to help some. I'm on liquids until 7/12, but, feel fortunate that I do get to have yogurt and cream Soups. I'm really quite over my shakes at this point. They are so sweet it's getting hard to get them down. I may start trying to have them later in the day and stick to some Soup first thing in the morning. Definitely counting down the days until pureed food.

I've been experiencing something interesting - wondering if anyone else had the same thing. While doing the liquid diet I've had mental cravings, but never physical ones. I've had the idea that I want to go to my favorite place and get my favorite dish, but when I think about actually eating the food, the desire goes away. But it's also difficult to get the desire out of my head. I don't know exactly how to explain it other than that.

Anyone felt something similar?

It’s been the same for me. I dream of food, but am not hungry for it. Hope it goes away soon.

Yes. In the first two weeks after surgery I noticed the same thing. I found myself thinking about “wanting” certain foods but physically have NO desire to eat it. I honestly have not had a hunger pain since before surgery. I also see some foods and have no desire to even want them. I would imagine it’s a pretty common thing.

First day back to work today. My mental focus has been spot on regarding work (things are nuts this week), so, no issues there. I'm still feeling pretty good and haven't had any issues with being overly tired like I thought I might. The biggest problem for me is simply REMEMBERING to take constant sips, to eat when my alarms go off and to get up and move occasionally. I never thought this would be an issue, but, I can truly see how people forget to eat throughout their day. Alarms are definitely essential as I get so lost in what I am working on and since my stomach doesn't growl to say "hey, feed me" I could easily just keep going. A new little adjustment this week. I have been able to keep my calories over 600 for the last several days and have found this is helping some with the tiredness I have at the end of the day. Not sure I will hit the top end of the range they were aiming for this month, but, maybe it will be more possible next month with purees.

I am HUNGRY! I feel the pains and I didn't think we were supposed to. It makes me concerned. I've been doing well with my Water and liquid diet but it is HARD to get 60-80g of Protein on liquid.
