February 2021 Sleeve Surgery

Recommended Posts

Finally cleared for surgery on Feb 24th.
Had issue with insurance auth- had to call and get it straightened out.
Had to get a chest X-ray since I had Covid in December
The standard pre -op EKG was abnormal, so I needed a stress echo which was abnormal and then had to have a cardiac catheterization. Finally got clearance after that from the Cardiologist yesterday. Had my pre-op appt with surgeon today to review pre-op diet= 1 week liquids/ day before Clear Liquids. Nervous, but ready.

My surgery was 2 days ago and I’m still having trouble to drink Protein Shakes. I also tried Protein Soup but I didn’t like. Do you guys have any suggestions?

I'm not even attempting Protein Shakes yet. I am all clear liquid so I do have Protein Water and broth but that is the extent of my protein at this point. I don't start protein shakes for another week according to my program.

Which brands of shakes are you using? I am using Unjury and nectar and are fine with both.

So, my Sleeve surgery was 9:45 am on 2/2/2021. Between the pre-op diet that I started 3 days early on 1/23 and this morning, I have lost 9 lbs.! Even having not pooped and holding fluid/swelling, I am down 3.6 lbs since Tuesday, 2/2. I am definitely hopeful that I will finally be able to reach a healthy weight for the first time in decades!! Best of luck to all of you, too!

I’ve been able to get one Protein Shake in and it only took 3 hours. How I’m supposed to get two more in today, I don’t know. If you can’t get the Protein Drinks down, at least be sure you’re getting in enough liquid to stay hydrated. You might try thin out the Protein Shakes with Water. I think I’ll try that next time. Hang in there!

2/12: I’m on day 2 of full liquid diet and I feel horrible (nauseous, shakes, not hungry, weak) will this go away?

Sounds like you need some electrolytes or salt. Do you have Gatorade or broth?

I had a terrible time swallowing the first 3 days after surgery. I used Isopure Protein infusion. It’s like a protein Water and I added a bit of crystal light. Tastes like lemonade. I also do 2 Celebrate shakes a day for Vitamin purposes. I had my sleeve done on 1/27/2021 so I am still on liquids only.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
