December Surgery dates???

Recommended Posts

Hello from the other side....

Woke up from surgery around 3pm, slept off and on until 6pm, and now I'm chilling in my room watching Survivor! LOL!!

Pain level is 3-4, but don't know if it's just the IV pain meds talking. A little pain increase when getting and out of bed, but doing pretty good with standing/walking.

Dry mouth is no fun, but I've been sucking on my ice chips. Can't wait for Clear Liquids tomorrow!

Will keep checking in to see how everyone else is doing!

I had my surgery on Monday. My liver was nice and small and soft and the surgery lasted less than an hour! My husband said he got scared because the surgeon came back out so quickly but heard the good news. First day was a blur and slept most of it. I got up towards the end of the night and did 2 laps around the hospital unit. I came home yesterday early evening. My labs looked great and my pain was very well controlled on Tylenol and Tramadol. I only took 3 tramadols the entire day yesterday. sleeping on my back is difficult bc it hurts too much to sleep on the side. My back is more achey than anything else. I don't have any pain at my incision sites but I just feel really bloated and as if I had a million sit ups and am sore. I've been getting rid of gas and every hour I get up and wake around my house for a few laps. Learning how small sips and how many sips to take is the hard part. I can do 2 small sips and then have to wait at least 15 mins to do 2 more small sips. I am up 6 lbs from the day of surgery but was told that is normal based on all the swelling I have. I have an old belly band that I should try. I'm holding my stomach when I walk around the house bc it makes it easier and no pulling on my incisions.

Glad your surgery went quick! Mine was about an hour exactly. I have pain just at the biggest incision area and that’s really only when I’m moving around too much.

I hold my stomach too but the pregnancy band really helps. I agree with the sipping being difficult to master..I can do more than 3 sips in 15 minutes, but I just take my time. I’m scared of getting dehydrated. How’s broth and Jello going?

if you want to capitalize on all your pain and suffering - don't do the diluted apple juice... only do zero calorie drinks.. then you won't have to post in a few weeks about how your weight loss is slow.

Good to know. Not sure why they had me drinking that in the hospital? I preferred regular ice Water over diluted apple juice anyway

I've been upgraded to clear liquids!! Will be discharged later today. Ahhhh...It's just so exciting!!

Perhaps in January, we can move this thread to post-op and continue to support each other, share tips and tricks, recipes, etc, and of course share our weight loss stats!

I can take small sips of broth but not getting a lot of that in. Gatorade Zero is too sweet for me and so is Crystal light. I'm going to try some Jello today and some fat free cream Soup that is strained. I'm able to drink a little more Water today than previously. The chewable vitamins I started yesterday and they are so horrible! Very chalky and I can only rinse it with a small bit of water. I'm thinking of trying Decaf coffee with some Premier Protein in it. The surgeon told me to just try and focus getting in my liquids and slowly increase it to 64oz.

I noticed after surgery i was really bloated and was actually up 6 lbs. Today most of it has gone away and I lost the 6 lbs so I'm at my starting weight that I was morning of surgery. I was able to sleep on my side with my body pillow tucked in front of me for support. How have you been feeling?

Discharged from Hospital this afternoon. Feeling pretty great, so hoping it stays this way even when I'm off the heavy pain meds.

Made Christmas Cookies tonight, and realized that old habits die hard. A couple times got some icing on my fingers, and first reaction is to just lick it off! Of course I didn't do that, and washed my hands instead, but it made me extra mindful of my old bad habits!

Off to bed now, have a great night everyone!

That's great that you are feeling that good! Today was a better day for me too. The monotony of Water is getting to me. I tried diluting Gatorade Zero and crystal light and just NOPE, way to sweet. I had some strained cream of mushroom diluted with water and that was good. I need some more variety. I'm looking for a good recipe to do Decaf. I'm okay with sugar free Jello too.

@jedimom broth is hard for me for some reason. The first day Jello was way too sweet for me, I tried it again and now I’m able to tolerate it. I made the family some hamburger Soup for dinner and I had the broth which was tolerable and very yummy today. I had my first bowel movement today and I was so excited lol I did drink Miralax this morning though. I’m normally pretty regular and was scared of not being able to go. I haven’t started my Vitamins yet because I tried them presurgery and I already know they’re gross lol. Decaf coffee with Protein Shake sounds so good, I may try that tomorrow too. The Gatorade zeros have really helped me but now I’m gonna focus back on mostly Water, don’t wanna depend on those to keep me hydrated. I’ve been doing good at walking around the house, I have a few errands to run tomorrow so we’ll see how that goes. I made it all day without pain meds again so it’s looking like I’m only needing them at the end of the day. This 1 incision is hurting and kinda bruised, once that one heals up I think I’ll be good.

That sounds great! At my post-op visit yesterday, I was not released from weight restriction and could start walking. I took a trip to Walmart that Sunday after I had surgery and was plumb wore out and was hurting but haven't had any issues since. I have been pooping since I have gotten home but it has started to become formed and asked doctor about taking miralax and was told as long as I am going I am okay and as long as I am not straining to go! Hoping my next visit I am released from any other restrictions due to I am ready to adventure out more! I am feeling good! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

@ChubRub @eporter @JediMom

WOW!, just Wow! Y'all are doing amazing. Going out and such, you make it look so much easier than any surgery I've had previously. I'm very happy that you are doing so well, so soon. I sure hope my surgery and postop goes as well as yours.🙏🏻🤞

My post op visit is next Friday so we’ll see! I’m only 3 days post op so I haven’t tried lifting anything heavy but my 2 year old is 30lbs and always wants me to hold him. I sit on the couch and have my 9 year old put him on the couch with me so I don’t have to pick him up lol. My daughter has a drs appt and I need to go to the grocery store so im a little nervous! If I’m worn out from the drs appt I’ll just wait on hubs to get off work and have him stop at the store. The clinic nurse called this morning and told me miralax was okay so I was happy lol. I’m glad you’re doing well!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
