December Surgery dates???

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Well I’m 16 days post op, I’m losing weight very rapidly. Most of the foods I can eat don’t settle well. I am eating eggs well though. I made deviled eggs, I can only eat one egg throughout the day, but it is good. Avocado is very good as well. Egg drop Soup is delicious. What is everyone else eating at these stages?

I'm still on thick liquids. The idea of a deviled egg sounds heavenly!! Can't wait to chew again!

I'm 11 days post OP and haven't had a BM yet. How long did it take everyone else? I don't feel constipated, but am wondering if I should take a laxative or something so I don't get too backed up???

30 - 60 mg of Milk of Magnesia + 8 oz Water at or around bedtime and it may happen early morning. That worked for me last night. :)

@ChubRub hi. I'm po 6days. Mybprogram instructions stated if no BM by 7 days to call the office. I've been holding down FL, Jello, soft eggs etc. I took miralax on day 2 and 3. The evening of day 4 it worked. Unfortunately it continued off and on to the next day and I had this vasovagal response that left me sweating like a pig, quesy and exhausted. That lasted the biggest part of the day with many trips to the bathroom. My advice start with a single dose and wait for it to work. Good luck!

I took stool softeners. They were the Walmart brand si they were cheap and effective. I would def take something bc 11 days is a long time.

@cajunredpanda, hello, I am 16 days post op and today I tried the soft scrambled egg with pinch of low-fat cheese, went down well! Just waiting to have my Decaf coffee. I have like you gotten over the broth on its own and I am struggling to get my Protein in due to I am sick of them as well. I have been doing the Unjury Protein Drinks which I can tolerate the ready mix ones but to mix on my own, blahhhh! I am getting in 64 oz of Water in daily with no trouble trying to shoot for more, yesterday I had 2 Tbsp of pureed hashbrown casserole, today I am going to puree some ham and english peas and store in small containers to eat later. I am realling going to focus on getting in my protein. Again, I can pretty much tolerate the ready made Unjury Protein Shakes, I purchased some premier caramel ones and they are to overwhelming with the caramel taste, blahhhh LOLOL, so I purchased the Cookies and cream premier shakes and they too are overwhelming with the taste. I guess they are really just to sweet tasting! Good luck on your trial today and hope all goes well! Have a great day!

I ate a blend of fat free refried Beans, shredded cheese, reduced sodium taco seasoning, chicken broth, and unflavored protein. I ate 2 ounces and it went down just fine. I want to scramble an egg but haven’t gotten to it yet. I tried unsweetened applesauce on Saturday and it was much sweeter than it did pre op. Today I had Hormel turkey chili with shredded cheese; that’s my favorite thing so far. I’m actually not allowed Tomato anything until March and I missed tomatoes in the ingredient list somehow. Bummer. It’s been the easiest thing to go down since I started purées.

Also, funny you mention the RTD Unjury shakes. I had a couple in the fridge and tried them post op. The vanilla was still good, but the chocolate tasted bitter to me? Most of my shakes have had the Unjury chocolate classic as the base powder, to the point the tub is almost empty. I loved the Cookies and Cream Premier pre op but have yet to try it post op.

Wow you are doing great! I'm 11 days out and can't hit 64oz of fluids. I hit it only 2x. Otherwise I'm about 48-50oz. As far as protein, I can only get in about 20g and that's 1 Protein Drink which takes me a couple hours to finish. I have only been doing Water, or cucumber/lemon infused Water. I talked to the office today as a phone check in and she said to just keep trying on focusing on water first before protein. You are rocking it though!

Thank you! I haven’t really drank anything added to my water except for Decaf tea one time and a MIO electrolyte once. The one time I had infused water, it actually WAS cucumber and lemon! My clinic has a fruit infuser cooler in the lobby along with a regular one. When I visited for my 10 day follow up, that was the blend du jour.

Youll get more protein in over time. But yes, definitely get fluids in at least.

Poopgate continues! LOL!! I took some Miralax last night, but nothing yet. Will take some more tonight. Luckily I'm home all week, so will be able to run to the potty whenever things start moving again!

Since I'm still on thick liquids, I've been on a Soup kick. I usually have a sweet tooth, but between Protein Shakes and greek yogurt, I'm over sweets, and just want savory! French onion soup (no bread, no cheese) and Tomato Soup are my new best friends!

Finally ordered some Isopure unflavored Protein powder, it’ll be here tomorrow. Hope it truly has no taste because I just can’t with the Protein Shakes I’ve had thus far. Basically living off of those oikos triple zero Greek yogurts for my protein lol.

I also got an order of the vitamin patches in the mail today, hopefully they work/I like them. My chewable Vitamin is DISGUSTING lol

Try a shot of MOM, it’s what finally got me opened up. Bad news, still barely go, MOM at least once a week. Every Wednesday. Welcome to the high Protein side.

It is pretty quiet in here! Hope that means everyone is doing good and feeling pretty “normal”!!

I’m feeling like time is dragging lol. I have another week of full liquids and the purees/soft foods for 3 weeks..that seems so long lol. I’ve been looking up recipes/meal ideas so I can be prepared to go back to work in a couple of weeks.

I do still need/enjoy 1 nap a day but I’m also not sleeping all throughout the night. I ended up with a cold and sore throat that keeps me these last few days.

Had 1 episode with nausea because I took my chewable Vitamin first thing in the morning on an empty stomach..thank God for Zofran. I ordered some Vitamin matches because my chewable is so gross. Hopefully I like the patches!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hey @eporter!! I've been doing really good. I feel great, incisions are nicely healing. I started purees this week. That sucks that you still have to be on liquids. I thought I was going to die bc I just couldn't handle anymore liquids. I'm struggling to get in my 64oz of liquids. With the Protein Shakes I can hit my 60g. I do 4oz of french vanilla Premier Protein, 2 oz of fairlife skim milk, 1/2 scoop Peanut Butter powder and 1/2 scoop of unflavored Protein and blend with ice. It tastes good and finally something not sweet! And that is 30g of protein right there in 6oz. The PB helps cut the sweetness which I'm so thankful for.

I have the optisource chewables and I don't like them either. I try and space out the 4 tabs threw out the day and take like 3-4 bites of the tab to finish it. That has helped because the first time i put the whole thing in my mouth to chew and that was so gross!

I go back to work on Monday. I hope that will help me get back in a routine because at home I'm not doing much at all. We went to the zoo and the mall so got in lots of steps there and did good. When I bend over to pick up stuff is still uncomfortable. Have a Happy New Year everyone!!!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
