I will add my support to GET VACCINATED. As a Social Worker working with CHILDREN in foster care....you would think that I do not have to deal with this..... We have had entire families with COVID. The Foster Parents bring it home and give it to the children - their children, and those placed with them. We see families who are "sure" that they won't get it. So they do not vaccinate. They get it. One of my foster homes brought it to Thanksgiving last November - by New Years her father and brother were dead. Another family it was Christmas. Grandmother and brother dead in two month's time. I have spent this past year tracking death, reporting illness and dealing with families and their grief and guilt.

Oh yeah, and then there is my own "family." Cousins. Who deemed themselves "safe" because they only went out with friends, or only on play dates with people that they knew. My cousin's daughter and husband got it, gave it to cousin and husband who gave it to his family at a gathering of family only. His mother died, his sister died and he was hospitalized and has long haul symptoms and is unable to work.

I was able to get vaccinated in February. I take my mask off in my office with others who are double vaccinated only. I wear my mask indoors in public places. I do not eat in restaurants indoors. I listen to the advice of our public health RN. I visit homes double paper masked or when I can get one N95 masked. (and getting one hardly ever happens) I am 65 years old, have brittle lifelong asthma.

Please folks. Gamble in the Casino. Not on life or death.

I am barely old enough to remember life before the polio vaccine. My aunt had a fiancé who took her home early from a date because he didn’t feel well abs three days later died from polio. So, my mother’s entire family was quite fearful about the disease. I can remember my mother’s relief the first time we were vaccinated. There was never any discussion among the citizens of our country getting vaccinated against it.
So, it is completely beyond my reasoning why anyone would refuse this vaccination which seems to be a deadly as polio and leaves such awful health issues in those who somehow manage to survive it.
In my last two jobs before I retired, I was a safety coordinator and in that position received extensive training on pandemic preparedness so when I began hearing about the illness in China and how rapidly it was spreading, I got on the phone to family and friends and implored them to get ready and to follow the instructions of the medical professionals. When some idiot politicians shot off their anti-science soapboxes, I again called family and friends and asked them not to listen to politicians but heed the warnings of the medical establishment. While I have become increasingly healthier in the past five years, in my youth I suffered from bronchitis so I went into lockdown and my family was very careful not to bring anything home to my husband and me. As soon as vaccinations became available, every member of our family received one. It just saddens me to see the news outlets that have failed to aggressively spoken out against the vaccinations when they themselves, hypocrites that they are have been taken the vaccine. We have a dead friend who has been fighting cancer for the past two years. Because of his compromised immune system, he was advised not to get the shot. Recently, he was advised that the cancer has metastasized. When he went to a cancer clinic out of state, he discovered that he has the Delta variant. So, he’s in a hotel alone thousands of miles away from home, any possible cancer treatment out on hold if he survives covid. This is not rocket science or brain surgery; GET VACCINATED!

Don’t worry I’m not a crazy anti vaccer (I get the flu vaccine every year & have most of my life) & it is my intention to get it. First I was not eligible - too young (that doesn’t happen often these days!). We only have Pfizer & Astra Zeneca in Australia. A friend in medical research recommended the Astra Zenaca over the Pfizer because of the risk Pfizer may not be stored at the required very low temperatures. Then the stuff came out about AZ & clotting (& I’ve had a clot), then they said though Pfizer had to be stored at low temperatures it could be transported at higher temps (??‍♀️). Then they said it’s a different sort of clot from AZ, then supplies dropped off for the Pfizer vaccine, then I had surgery, … Just not been straight forward. Anyway I’m intending to get the Pfizer when supplies are in at my doctor’s in a couple of weeks.

We’ve been very fortunate in Australia & haven’t had many cases of COVID in comparison to other countries & even fewer deaths (think it’s about 30 000 cases & 900 deaths - still too many though). It has been heart breaking to see it’s impact around the world though. I get frustrated by those who refuse to wear masks & complain when we go into lockdown even for just three days. I’m also amazed at how many people don’t bother with sanitisers anymore, lean all over counters & hand rails, invade your space, etc. Sometimes, I want to slap them & remind them it’s not about their rights as an individual, it’s about the rights of the entire community to be safe & healthy. The Mister did it again.......... Picked out this Red Dress. Wore to a wine tasting. Those are the shoes on the shelf above my head I wore with it.
