❤JULY 2019 CHALLENGE❤

Recommended Posts

Days 25-29

  • :957_heavy_check_mark:Sleek Arms Challenge: 5 days worth of this challenge catch-up done!!!
  • :957_heavy_check_mark:Toned Arms Challenge: Only 2 missed days/sets worth of this challenge done, um, those 95 total up and downs in the Sleek Arms Challenge killed me.
  • Toned Arms Challenge: I'm going to defer 3 sets/days of these to tomorrow (or later today?). My arms are done at the moment.
  • BTW, am pretty proud of myself as for the first time ever, I USED THE HOTEL GYM TO WORK OUT during a vacation. Pre-wls, hotel gyms were basically my source for a quick bottle of Water, or cold towel, lol.

OMG I remember the time I choose to use the hotel gym post surgery. I felt so empowered 💗

I’m going on vacation next week and we checked to make sure the hotel had a gym, that is the first time I’ve ever done that.

Yesterday was the first “day off” I’ve had in months. I didn’t eat off plan or anything unhealthy. I just relaxed, chilled and hung out. I didn’t even go for a walk. My Fitbit must think I was sick! I did enjoy the day but now I feel guilty about being so inactive.

I need to learn to relax a bit, my fear of gaining weight is creating anxiety and I need to strike a balance. Having a clear plan and goal seems to help me focus. My first step is asking the personal trainer create a clear new workout routine for me.

Does/did anyone else have this anxiety or fear?

I do this, which probably isn't good thing. I end up doubling (or tripling) my efforts the next day(s) if I miss getting in some exercise on a given day. I hate playing catchup so I try my best not to miss a day, though sometimes if I know I'm going to miss a workout/run/whatever, I'll put in extra the day(s) before.

Reading this over just now makes me think I may be going a little overboard. Hmmmm...need to give this some thought....

Don't hurt yourself! 💜

Even instructions on a lot of medications say if you miss a dose don't double up, just take the next scheduled dose...

#30. Chill.

On the back patio with my favorite cold drink this summer. Dunkins black ice coffee with my own sugar free French vanilla Creamer. 15-20 calories.

Thanks, it is debilitating or anything but I do notice my anxiety increasing when I think about it or have an off day.

I have been an anxious person my entire life so it isn’t new to me, I just need to get a handle on it and bring it up with my Dr when I see him in a few weeks.

📣📣📣📣📣📣📣TEAM CHECK IN!📣📣📣📣📣📣📣

HOW DID WE DO?

VSG: October 24, 2018, in maintenance.
July 1st Weight: 118.5 lbs
July 31st Weight 115.1 lbs

July Goals Results:

  1. Keep weight stable-ish and maintain a BMI of no less than 22
    • :957_heavy_check_mark: I dropped down to a BMI of 21.2, but I think I'm ok with this. This is still in the healthy range for my height, so am not going to sweat it that much. Plus I'm counting on the weight to bounce back up a few pounds eventually.
  2. Complete every single one of the arm challenges.
    • :957_heavy_check_mark: I can say I did all the challenges this month...I missed a couple days here and there, but I made up the missed sets on the following days.
  3. Firm up my butt, lol. Not sure how to measure success on this one, but will do a bunch of squats, leg lifts and bridges anyway. Every. Day.
    • I CAN NOT say I did this every day, lol. First I totally forgot I even said I would do it, and then I just said eff it.
  4. Take pretty pictures.
    • I tried, thats what counts, right?!?!

July Arms Before and After:

At first I thought I didn't see a difference the arm exercises made, but now that I put the pics side by side, I do see a tiny bit of difference, after all...

(and of course my excess arm skin is still in all its abundant glory...)

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
