On February 3 (10 days before), I have to go on a no-sugar, low carb all-liquid diet. Unfortunately, no solid foods, like bars, for me. 😥I am looking forward to the little bit of "food" I can have, such as sugar-free Jell-o and sugar-free popscicles!

I am also allowed to have jell-o and popsicles. I am planning to stop at the grocery store after work to pick some up. Do you have any recommendations on what kind to get?

Congrats CeeCee! We share a surgery date! Glad you got everything sorted out with your insurance.

Whoops, I misspoke. The last 2 days are 4 shakes and 1 Soup per day.

I plan to buy the "sugar-free" Original Brand Popsicle," which you can get in your local grocery store or Target. I am not sure the simply fruit ones will be good given they have a lot of natural sugar. Then again, I may be wrong on that! My kids grew up on the ones I'm getting and I liked them!

I was told no on fruit bars. Popsicle also makes sugar free tropical flavors

Today is day 3 of my all liquid preop diet. Last night was a little rough. We’re out of town at the casino, playing bingo for my birthday and my husband was eating at the table next to me, uggg. I had my broth, but I didn’t have enough Protein Drinks yesterday, just didn’t drink them, so I think that’s what made it worse, anyway, it was not easy, but I made it through without even as taste😁

I think eating out will be very hard for me, both while I'm on all-liquids and post-surgery. I have a colleague who had the gastric sleeve surgery last year and says she still orders whatever looks good to her and eats only a few bites of it. I plan on just eating bits of what my husband/kids order. My wonderful, but frugal, husband might be happy we're saving money! Advice needed: is it better to eat with the family while on the liquid diet or separately so I can't see and smell the food? We live in a large metro area and with all of our commutes to work and school, we have little time to make and clean up regular dinners. Consequently, we only make dinner a few nights a week; we order takeout or eat in restaurants a lot. For those of you who eat out a lot, what is your plan????

I am on day 5 of no caffeine. Still getting some withdrawal headaches from it.

Ugh, that's tough. Crystal Light makes a mix you can add to Water that has caffeine in it. My nutritionist told me about it. I am not a tea or coffee drinker, and get my caffeine via two Diet Cokes a day. I must say Goodbye to Diet Coke starting Sunday, but can have the Crystal Light mix. Do you think you can do that, or must you get off caffeine pre-op per your surgeon's requirement?

My pre OP diet allows me to have 1 low carb low fat meal a day. I went to Red Lobster on the weekend with my daughter and was able to eat a nice meal that was less then 700 calories.

Good for you, Marine--you are a better man than I am! I have stopped caffeine several times over the last month--and I last about a day before I cave. I've got to get serious about this before my liquid diet starts on February 11.

I’m thinking this will get a little easier after today, day 3, but man....a lot of a fat girls thoughts revolve around food and eating and it’s a strange feeling when those moments come where I forget there’s a reason I’m starving myself. I’m constantly subconsciously feeling like I’m needing to get something to eat.

My band to bypass surgery is scheduled for February 7th and the anxiety has certainly kicked in. I’m trying not to be nervous but at the moment...I can’t help it! Any advice?

It did get easier the afternoon of day 3 for me. Day 4 wasn't too bad but I was still somewhat hungry so I had a sugar free Jello. Today is day 5 and I've only had the shakes. But I am dreaming that I am eating and I wake up panicked that I messed up.

I am feeling the same way as you, mine is on the 11th. You aren't alone. I just try to keep myself busy and my mind off it but that's easier said then done. Just keep positive and focused on the reason you're doing it in the first place, that's the goal, the surgery is just one of the steps to getting there. Best wishes.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
