Long time lurker, first time posting in anger :) had gastric sleeve 31May, have lost 37 Kg since , approx 81 pounds( starting weight 167). Struggling lately, have a surgeon who is always on holiday or indifferent.
Age 43, 6 foot 3, live in australia
The good bits since surgery,

Weight loss
Hypertension under control ( no more medication)
Was borderline diabetic, that is all good now
sleep apnea is better
Fitting in my clothes from 10 years ago
No hunger or even

The bad
Too quick weight loss
Recovery time after surgery was 3 weeks , that means ihave no leeway with further sick leave
Constant nausea , especially when drinking Water and any food
Barely able to meet 1000 calories ( at most can have 80 gms meat with 1 tablespoon rice at any given time) , with my height i should between 1200-1500
In last week had a case of first kidney stone , spend the night in ER, in last two weeks my calories intake has plummeted, the only way i even get to 800 is by drinking juice ( i know i am not drinking enough water)
My gall blader wasnt taken out, i have been pushing surgeon to put me on actigall, but he is indifferent and has suggested that this is a practice not done in australia. Iam concerned as i cant afford another surgery from time off from work perspective..

Is what iam experience fairly normal ? Nausea , lack of hunger etc

The heavier you are normally the faster you will lose weight, even more so being male.

It is not unusual to have a low calorie intake right now, after all you are three months out so you should have some pretty tight restriction.

Most surgeons do not take the gallbladder out at the same time...at least where I live in America.

Kidney stones can be common after surgery due to decreased Fluid intake.

Lack of hunger is experienced by some and is usually considered a benefit of WLS.

Nausea appears to be experienced by everyone in an individual manner postoperatively. Some have none, others seem to struggle with it for some time.

Sorry you are feeling aggravated by all this. Congrats on surgery success and the weight loss.

Please keep your fluids up, try some Soups, sf popsicles, warm tea. Warm ginger tea might help the nausea just before you eat, eat really slowly and frequently. Add some good fats like avocado, and a tablespoon or two of vegetables, some cheese, refried Beans. Also acid reflux can cause nausea, take a pepcid and see if that helps a little. Good luck.

This ^ what KimTriesRNY said. It takes a while to be able to get in more calories, so I think what you are experiencing is fairly normal for the stage you are at.

The nausea is a problem though, I would hate that. Some things to consider: How fast are you eating? Are you taking in too much at one time? Those things still make me nauseated.

You also mentioned eating rice. Try cutting back on any grains that will expand in your stomach for a time and see if that helps. I still can't really do rice or quinoa, makes me miserable after it expands.

If you are ready to stop losing, maybe try upping your calories with things like Peanut Butter, other nuts, the good salad dressings, just higher calorie good stuff.

Thanks all, just to clarify, the thing iam concerned about most is effects of fairly rapid weightloss, i have absolutely no craving for any food or hunger, even that aside i didnt think nausea when drinking Water was normal fir sleeve, i count my calories as it helps me keep track , for past three days , only getting in 3-400 barely. Chaos, i have tried brown rice for fibre , even that i cant take more then 1 1/2 table spoon. Things like Peanut Butter feel very rich (like mayo) , chick peas was my favorite food, cant do that anymore. Nuts are a good option though.

I guess i shouldnt worry and wait and see.... at least iam loosing weight 😁

Hi there! I highly recommend nuts! They will raises your calories so quickly and you only need a few. Its crazy. Try cashews. And bananas if you can have fruits blend banana into your current Protein Shake. Instant boost to calories and carbs. Do you see a nutritionist at all?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
