Omg I love those!! Cute! Did you make these?

No, I cannot take credit, but ms.sss certainly could!!! I told the bakery to just surprise me. When I picked them up - they called them little Sophie smiling faces! Haha. Breakfast this morning with a cupcake. The rest were frozen or given as Valentine's gifts... Fun!

lunch today. Made chicken salad with leftover roasted chicken past weekend. Hubby finished the rest for a snack. And, Bobby in flight! Like me - he loves a good pork chop! Haha.

@Kris77 have you tried any of the lactose free products? I use a lactose free milk but am fine with yoghurt & cheese (something to do with the cultures/bacteria which can make them easier to digest I believe 🤷🏻‍♀️). But I gurgle heaps more when I have milk & yoghurt. There are coconut & nut versions of most dairy products if you want to explore because you know life is better with cheese. 😁

Sorry about your struggles with eggs though ☹️.

My not being able to eat ice cream is a good thing. I don’t even miss it anymore. cheese I love and yogurt but don’t eat either bc they make me bloated. Plus they mainly cheese is pretty fattening so I’m good w not having it anymore
But good to know there are other versions of them. I knew this about yogurt but not about cheeses though.
I pretty much eat a lot of the same things over and over. I love love salads so that’s my go to for lunch every day.

The bloating is likely from the lactose @Kris77. I eat on repeat a lot too. But it makes things easier because I don’t think as much about food & what I’m going to eat. cheese is often my go to when out socialising with friends. You can always guarantee there’ll be cheese at social events. It’s not an every day food & I’m not going to eat a wheel of Brie … though it’s so yummy I think I could 😉.

I’m still loving the Aldi zero carb bread and only need one slice as a serving which is a good thing because there was a price increase

Post Valentine’s Day picture dump of the goodies I brought into work. I also made Reese’s stuffed Peanut Butter brookies and lemon poppyseed pound cake that I didn’t get a picture of. -cheesecake brownies, “mint to be” Cookies, snickerdoodles, Valentine’s Day white chocolate fudge, salted caramel fudge, and hot chocolate fudge.

I’m a fan of trying new meats. Camel, bison, deer, duck, lamb, cow tongue, and rabbit are all things I’ll definitely eat again. I’ll have to redo the emu though because I think it might’ve been the way it was cooked. And if I ever want to try alligator I only have to drive south.

I finally found the Aldi Keto bagels!
They are not nearly as dense as regular Bagels and I don’t mind because I still cannot eat dense breads.

Can only claim ownership to about 5% of this salad. It was leftover from a lunch with my sister in law: a Mediterranean bowl. Halloumi, hummus, chick peas, grilled zucchini & carrot, roasted sweet potato, dukkha, cucumber, Tomato, spinach & pea shoots. I added the diced chicken to the leftovers for dinner. Damn yummy.

I’ve been on a salad and smoothie kick lately. When I went to the store hungry yesterday I bought like a dozen premade salads and the stuff to make more. 🤷‍♀️

Today’s smoothie- spinach, kale, strawberries, almond milk and Protein Powder. Then there’s chicken caeser salad, my fruit and veggies box, a cheese stick, 2 Protein Drinks, a mushroom and havarti cheese omelette, a granola bar, 2 wasa crisps, Peanut Butter, and a sugar free energy drink. 8AAEEE26-45F7-44A7-BFDF-409D7FE53D5A.thumb.jpeg.57d3521e0d4814a1c1d842e19ea76a4b.jpeg 61ACFA3B-59AC-47EC-83C3-9B4BC74F5310.thumb.jpeg.119d63ac9d8afba19cabb722a7ff54fe.jpeg

Mash potatoes with teriyaki braised mushrooms. This is my portion and I believe it’s right around 1 cup of food.

That fact that I even cooked made this a miracle meal. Anyone else tired of being the head chef?

More salad!

From yesterday: The Protein is fried-up leftover Swedish meatball “meat batter” that didn’t fit on the tray of formed balls (later tonight i’ll post a pick of THAT 🤞🏼)

394 calories. Ate the contents of whole bowl throughout the day.

(Lightly) Teriyaki chicken w/ mashed potato and mixed vegetables. About 3/4 cup of potato, 1tbsp of veg and 3 oz of chicken. I decided to not finish because I was bored with it 😂

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
