Confessional - Lets post our cheats/confessions/etc so others can see that we are all human

I figured it would be nice to have a section where we could just confess to some of the potentially dumb things we've done, pre or post op. Just so others can see we are all human. I want this to be kept as civil as possible, where people can own up to things without anyone else chiming in with anything negative, we all know what we did wasn't "right" but I'm sure we ALL have done something we shouldn't have.

I'll start.

I cheated on my pre-op diet a few times. I also like to find loop holes and exploit the crap out of them. I drank beer for a week+ on my pre-op, because it didn't say I couldn't. I only stopped after I was forced to, because my wife asked my surgeon and of course they said "no"... boo. I also ate a whole slice of French Meat Pie at my Dad's 60th birthday luncheon.

I cheated on my post-op diet/puree stage a bit too. I ate rice cakes and protein chips or other veggie chips. Not a lot, but it happened. I "pureed" a steak and cheese sandwich once. I ate a few fried ravioli on my puree stage as well.

This past weekend, I had a beer. My wife and I took my parents out to dinner at a local casino, it's Restaurant week, so we found a good looking location and went out to eat, part of the deal was that you got a draft beer with your meal. So, I had a shipyard summer ale with my grilled chicken parm sandwich (only ended up eating 3 bites of the chicken and none of the bread).

I did all that thus far and nothing bad happened.

I understand the changes are to ensure we stick to our diets, but understanding that we are all human and WILL either slip up or just stray from our diets on purpose like I did. It's good to see that, it's possible to still live and be able to enjoy a few things we "shouldn't" without any negatives happening.

So, what's your WLS confession?

Now I just inadvertently have a half pack of Hobnobs and a Crunchie bar here with me.

Pre-WLS me brought back an entire WHSmith bag of Cadbury's - and the only reason it wasn't 100% Crunchie-based is because of dental work. I never got hooked on Hob Nobs but definitely on chocolate-covered digestives. It's a good thing I'm unclear of the legality of imported clotted cream.

I went camping a few days before my surgery and I ate like ten hotdogs, a bag of chips and so many cookies. I also ate some chips and watermelon like a week after surgery... duuumb lol. Don’t be like me though if you are about to have surgery

Is getting the shakes part of dumping? I ate some ice cream (Yeah, I know) and now my hands are shaking so badly it's hard to type

I make myself throw up because I still can’t control myself. I’ll be full but I’ll take one or two more bites because I hate wasting and then I’m too full it’s uncomfortable. Then I get scared I’ll stretch my tummy out, so I make myself puke. I puke just enough that I’m not overly full. Sometimes I’ll ask keep eating but spit it out instead of swallowing. I’m still early and on purée. I hope I can get this under control soon. I feel bad after and just stick to liquids for the rest of the day. Not a healthy cycle so far.

Maybe it’s from the sugar rush?
I caved and am enjoying my first post-surgery cup of coffee. I put a scoop of protein powder and some 1% milk in it to try to make it more diet friendly.

But the good news is I didn’t have one of the cookies that was staring me down as I made my coffee. I stuck the package of cookies on a tall shelf instead!

Maybe, my insides haven't seen much sugar in the last 6 months.

Hey, great topic! I’m 18 days post op, and I haven’t cheated once.
Also not doing the two weeks shake diet.

I’m done with junk food. I’m a food addict.
If I start taking one bite, it’s not gonna stop. It’s gonna get out of hand. So I made a promise before the surgery and actually today, to never ever ever eat junk food or drink sodas. It’s really over for me.

Gastric bypass surgery was my last ditch effort , I can’t afford loosing grip of myself again. The horrible feeling being stuck in a fat body , with no social interaction, feeling ugly everyday and heavy is not worth it.

All I can say is , i hope I can keep my promise to myself.

Bless ??

I drank beer and soda up until 3 days pre-op. I also got myself out of an event I didn't want to go to using the "I'm on the pre-op diet" excuse while I was sitting at home drinking beer. bahaha, sorry I had to laugh at myself for that one.

Seven days post op I got my cycle. The cravings were worse than they had ever been. I took a plain Hershey bar and broke it up and put one piece in my mouth at a time and sucked on it until it was melted liquid. Pure heaven.

I've tried to drink regular coke since surgery but it tastes funny...it almost has a black licorice taste to it, which I hate. I think the Universe knew I wouldn't be able to stay away from it so now it tastes tainted. lol!

1 month Surgiversary today and my sons 30th bday. Down 28lbs! Today I cheated, I had 2 slices of thin crust pizza but didn't eat the stuffed crust and said no to the sinful cheesecake. That plus my scrambled eggs for breakfast, 1/2 a lemon protein bar and SF pudding cup is what I've had today. Stuffed and paying for it. Back on my grind tomorrow!

Starting a running tab of cheats for this weekend... Lol

1/3 slice of Cheesecake (sugar free low carb)

2 real oatmeal raisin cookies

1/4 bag of real chips

Spoonful of Homemade cake and apple pie

to be continued...

The coffee with protein powder concoction was pure trash. Only drank half of it. Going to have to find better tasting powder before I do that again.
