Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Recommended Posts

Well, you would think you'd be grateful to have a site to come to where the owner is aloof, distant and is somewhere counting his cash he makes per post from the sponsors.

I mean, REALLY. Get over yourself, Lu.... It's all about the $$$$ not the people.

Just sit down and play nice with others.

I'm really glad you've shown your true colors.

If I was living off the so called "profits" of LBT I'd literally be on welfare right now.

Do you know the actual costs of running this web site ? There's extremely redundant and load balanced hardware, bandwidth, electricity, collocation facilities, full time developers, part time graphic artists plus many other costs in running LBT.

Did you know for years and years I personally laid out of my own pocket every single month for these fees and expenses without receiving a dime in compensation ?

Let's not go in to how much time and effort I put in daily to make sure LBT is running smoothly without any hiccups or interruptions.

Like someone mentioned previously, we have 1,292,000 posts and almost 73,000 members. I think we're doing something right.

If you ever make it down to New York I'll personally open my books to you. You're invited to my office any time you'd like.

I had the LAP-BAND procedure a long time ago. I felt the best way to service the Lap-BAND community was the best way I knew how and that was offering my technological and marketing expertise. That's why I launched LBT the same day I came home from the hospital after my procedure.

That isn't to say that it would be a bad thing if we actually were extremely profitable one day and I was able to afford an executive LapBandTalk plane to fly around and meet our amazing members one by one.

Oh and for those few of us left and those who give a rat's ass - I went down the hill today for an unfill expecting it to be a total one. He only took out 1cc, leaves me with 5.5 and I'm able to drink and eat. Feeling MUCH better, physically, now.

Thanks to all of my FRIENDS for the well wishes and advice. I truly appreciate it.

This needed to end, right here and now. I will not allow these personal attacks to continue on LBT.

Enough is enough.

I'm TEMPORALLY closing this thread. If you have an itch to post, go help a member who needs some support.

Just for the record, we aren't required to provide members with "official" warnings before they're banned. When a member signs up they agree to abide by the LBT TOS. **CLEARLY** the members that were banned decided that they were above he law and didn't need to abide by these simple set of common sense rules.

I took the liberty to personally ban all members involved.

It's time for everyone involved to step back and take a hot shower and get some sleep. (I surely could use both.)

The original PJTP thread was one of my favorite places on LBT...I wanted to try to re-create some of that freewheeling, open-for-discussion, silly, poignant, interesting and funny thread here.

Nothing can replace the original PJTP thread, but I missed having it around, so I'm starting it up again. The original purpose of the PJTP thread, as part of the LBT Lounge, was to "...general conversation, share interests, have a laugh or discuss anything not specifically related to banding or the LAP-BAND®."

So I'll start...I was banded in November 08 (Hi Notorious Novembers!) at my highest-ever weight of 265 lbs, and I'm 5'11" tall. Not a safe weight, especially considering I have a family history of Type II diabetes and heart disease.

I've been heavy since I was around 9 years old...it took me until the age of 45 (I'm now 46) to decide to DO something about it...just not good.

I am married (19 years) with three kids (all grown) and a grandbaby I haven't seen in a year due to geographic differences and strained budgets. Hopefully this holiday season I'll get to see him

I'm nearly at the end of the weight-loss phase of my journey - I'm down 69 pounds, looking for perhaps another 20, and then to have plastic surgery to improve the appearance of my torso and bustline.

Looking forward to re-connecting with my PJTP peeps - will send messages to everyone I can.

I must stress...this is not a replacement for the original PJTP thread, just my attempt to find my friends and my LBT family again...

Hi Ebony, Torky and CC. Nice to see some familiar folks here. CC, I watched Grey's....oh wow. Can't wait for next week.

I never really intro'd myself here but here goes: I'm waiting for a surgery date. I had one, it was cancelled and I submitted info to a new place. I've been overweight most of my life and refuse to keep battling this demon without some kind of support...whether that support is here on LBT, on FB or with the WLS itself, I don't know. I'm on a journey here, folks. And I appreciate any friends, support and help that I find.

I do keep myself kind of private but feel free to PM me if you want to know anything. Yes, I am still friends with the former PJTPers and communicate with them on FB. Yes, I am a friend of HH... Just in case there was any confusion :scared2:.

Eb, thanks for starting this thread. CC - love your blog. Torky - feel better and gargle with salt Water, girl

Pooly, are you really a friend of HH? Your tagline is a little ambiguous, heeheehee.

Ebony, I salute your success, but damn you for bragging about it (j/k).

PJTP lives on! Thank you for starting her back up, ebony.

PJTP...Hi y'all!

I get to use my multi-quote again!:w00t:

Hi CC! *waving* :w00t:

I haven't gotten into Grey's Anatomy - I'm a crime drama junkie. Was watching CSI (the original) last night...wonderful, *spoiler alert* and one of my favorite characters is back...

Hey Ebony & CC!

Hi Krtork! Can't agree more...it WAS a long week!

I agree - I miss my friends as well, and I'm sad they are not here to join us, but we'll hold up the PJTP banner in their honor!

Hi PoolGirl!

I so relate to you - you probably know from my previous posts that I too have been overweight most of my life - beginning around age 9 - and have fought it a LONG time. I'm so glad I have my band...and I know you're going to be GREAT when yours happens. I hope it's soon...keep ya chin up!

I too am a friend of HH - at least I hope he sees me that way! I loved his wit, and I too keep in touch with our former PJTP buddies on FB. I would miss them terribly if I didn't...not that I needed an excuse to get addicted to FB...I am such a techno-junkie!

Ya gotta brag about what you're proud of Plain...it's why you're always bragging about your 'jewels' huh? :scared2:

Hi all! I really have missed everyone. It is so nice to see some familiar faces. I really miss all of my PJTP family.

What Slim said!

I've got a busy weekend ahead...regular work stuff today, then tomorrow DH and I are going to a college football game (he's taking classes locally, wants to do the whole 'college student' thing) then going to see Cedric the Entertainer at the Beacon Theatre in NYC...I can't wait!

As a budding Fashionista, though, I'm having a challenge figuring out what to bring (clothing-wise). My inclination is to wear something cute for the game, bring a change of clothes and then get fly and funky-fresh (yes, I'm showing my age) for the comedy show. DH, like most men, does NOT understand - plans to wear jeans all day and to the comedy show.

Hence my dilemma - I want to show off this new bod I'm developing, but don't want my DH to feel funny about me over-dressing him...of course, I usually do, but that's another story!

So I'm compromising - purple knit minidress, sweater tights and flat boots for the game, then switch to fishnets and black high heels for the comedy show...

Whatcha think, peeps? :)

I don't actually watch either. I end up watching things like American Justice, Notorious, Snapped... true crime junk that should scare me but doesn't. For some reason, I can't watch CSI. It is too real. Crazy huh?:scared2:

I say flaunt your stuff Ebony! Show off that new body.

PJTP-today is my bandiversary. I am not where I really wanted to be by now. I wanted to be down 100 pounds by now. I am trying really hard not to look back at this past year with regret for what I haven't accomplished.:w00t: I know I have come a really long way, but... Isn't that sad? I should be shouting from the roof tops that I have lost this much weight, but instead I am complaining about not having lost enough. I guess it shows how much of a brat I am.

I hope that someday soon we are able to have our whole PJTP family together again(wherever we end up:tongue:).

Have a great day!

Well, dangit....I just posted a few times on the PJTP thread and it gets closed!

Ebony: thanks for starting this again.

plain: I am glad to see you back. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to see you engage in playful banter and sexual innuendos any more.:)

TPG: I hope your surgery gets scheduled soon.

smsmithart: cougartown was hysterical. Did you watch Modern Family?

slim: Celebrate your successes. I know I am far from my goal, but dangit, I look a lot better than I did, and I feel amazing, well I did until...

PJTP: It is probably my fault for thinking I was the invicible "super immune system teacher"...I made it 6 weeks, and now, I have the H1N1 flu. We have had at least one case per week in my class and I didn't get it. I, of course, get sick two days before training that I have been waiting for since last year! UGH! Now, it looks like next year.:scared2:

Colorado Chick, I am glad your daughter is feeling better. My children have some how managed to not catch it, even though they had 1/4 of their highschool absent for a week! Hopefully they will survive their mom having it.

krtork: stock up on purell and lysol. Spray, spray, spray...those children are full of germs. Who wudda thunkit?!

Now I'm off to take my tamiflu and zythromax:crying:

I am so sorry that you are sick. :crying:I hope that you get better soon! I pray for all of the teachers dealing with this illness. I know you all are dealing with those germy kids all day.

I do feel (and look) so much better (aside from the adult onset acne:mad:). I know my problem is mental. Even though I know that I have worked hard to lose my 76 pounds, I feel like such a fraud sometimes. I know part of that is because I didn't tell a lot of people about my surgery. In that time, I have had several people from work asking for my "diet". Well, I tell the truth that it isn't a diet. I am just doing my best to eat better 9/10ths of the time. The other 1/10th...:scared2: I also have become the major topic of conversation with my family (thanks to big mouth relatives). I went from only my mom & husband knowing, to everyone asking me did it hurt, am I allowed to eat that, is it expensive... you get the picture. I just need to get my head game back together. It's funny how much of this journey is mental.

PJTP...Back again...taking a break from filing and organizing here in the office...YUK!

I say flaunt your stuff Ebony! Show off that new body.

Thanks, Slim! I think I'll do just that...:) The minidress is definately something I would not DARED have try 69 pounds ago...

PJTP-today is my bandiversary.

:thumbup::thumbup:Happy Bandiversary, Slim! :w00t::thumbup:

I am not where I really wanted to be by now. I wanted to be down 100 pounds by now. You are NOT a brat...but now you've had a taste of success and you want more...you're a lot like me in that respect. I see how far I've come when I look at pictures of myself from a year ago, but I KNOW how far I want to go...now that "where I want to go" place was somewhere I didn't look at too often pre-band, I didn't see a way to get there. Now I know it's possible, and I've flipped over to the other side - I want it NOW! (stamping foot childishly)

I hope that someday soon we are able to have our whole PJTP family together again(wherever we end up:tongue:).

100% agree...family reunion in the future plans!

Have a great day!

You too, Slim!

Well, dangit....I just posted a few times on the PJTP thread and it gets closed!

You found us again! Yay!

Ebony: thanks for starting this again. No prob - I missed it too much to let it stay gone!

plain: I am glad to see you back. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to see you engage in playful banter and sexual innuendos any more.:w00t: Watch out what you're thankful for...you'll get him started again...

TPG: I hope your surgery gets scheduled soon. Same here...

smsmithart: cougartown was hysterical. Did you watch Modern Family?

Ever since I found out what 'Cougar' stood for, I'm undecided about whether I want to be offended or not...maybe if there's a CSI rerun on, I'll catch an episonde...

slim: Celebrate your successes. I know I am far from my goal, but dangit, I look a lot better than I did, and I feel amazing, well I did until...

It's been 10 long years! Here is my VSG weight loss surgiversary update..

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
