Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

@ttj3mom It is completely normal!!! Everything you said is exactly how I felt pre op. I lost 15lbs on the pre op diet and told myself the same thing about not doing surgery, but deep down I knew that without the surgery I wouldn’t keep at it. It’s nerve wrecking and you have to do what’s best for you, but if the end result is what you want then stick them your guns!

Second to last day of my pre op diet and the fatigue has officially kicked in. ??

So I’m exactly 4 weeks away and I completely lost it today total meltdown like yelling screaming went ballistic on my husband totally lost my shit. Annnd that’s the story I’m not really craving sugar or carbs I’ve cut most of those out of my diet a week ago in prep for the next 7 months but guys I just can’t seem to keep my emotions together like honestly I’m going crock pot insane help send help

Mine was July 10th ?

Got it!

My date August 6th ?

@Jbyerly101 Thanks for getting back, I see you had your surgery, how did it go. I have been reading on muscle mass after surgery, have you heard anything on this site how that goes? I am new to this site so just learning how to respond and ask questions.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with the panicky thoughts. I worry about the actual procedure and the pre & post diets. What if I mess it all up? Will I remember what I can & should have on the pre-op liquid diet? Am I really ready for this?

One thing that I'm worried about is that I can't do sugar free items. The substitutes & even stevia gives me instant headaches that quickly turn to migraines.

@ChellNC I feel you I keep going back and forth myself.

Good Morning All!

Congratulations and good luck to everyone that's on/heading to the Loser's Bench this week!

Day 2 of pre-op diet today. I'm full liquids, so that's 5 Protein Shakes, 50 calories of clear liquid, 1 cup of strained soup/yogurt/pudding.

I'm very tired and have a Headache. I'm hoping the fog clears soon.

You are rocking it!! Wow- great work! I’m impressed (:

Ok, the last major hurdle I needed to get over has been complete. Surgery paid in full. :D

I talked to my surgeon this morning about all my concerns, worries, and anxieties. I was reminded of why I chose him as he is so caring and compassionate. He put all my fears to rest and told me I could call him whenever I needed.

And then he said, "All this practicing you've been doing to transform your eating habits will pay off." And I thought well ****...with everything going on I totally and completely forgot I should have been practicing sipping, taking smaller bites, chewing well, etc. So I guess I have the next 4.5 days to cram all that practicing in! lol

I still forgot to ask him what he thinks a healthy weight is for me to target. But I suppose there is plenty of time after the surgery to discuss that.

You have totally got this! And I’ll be honest, I didn’t practice that at all. Only practiced chewing more and eating with smaller utensils. My pouch definitely made certain that I nibbled though, lol. Things will feel like lead hitting your new stomach. You will catch on quickly. Best wishes! ?

Surgery is 7am in the morning. Excited and scared at the same time. Highest weight ever was 411, and at pre-op yesterday was 355. Here I go!!

my incisions are so freaking itchy...... send help ??
Have you tried doing an ice pack on them?

Uh god this liquid acetaminop-codeine is GROSS! Trying to get that down to reduce incision swelling and areas around the main incision. Man is it DISGUSTING!
