Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

Absolutely - The more the merrier!! I think that I only have to do one visit with my dietitian. But my classes are once a month which I think is crazy since they are only 30-40 min long. I suppose for insurance purposes they want to stretch it out to be sure it's something someone really wants to do.

They stretch them out to see if you can commit and stick with it. You can do this.

Am I crazy???? I'm pretty sure I've edited posts on here before but now all of a sudden I don't see that option anymore on any of my posts.

I thought i read somewhere that you can only make edits for a certain amount of time after the initial post???? Could be wrong though.

Yeah I just read that in the tech support section. Lame. I wanted to update the first post on this thread with the list of everyone’s surgery dates now I can’t do that.

Hi All!

I'm new here...sorta. I gave an intro on another post here a few days ago. I mostly read and absorb all the posts. I'm a revision from lap band to RNY. My surgery date is June 4th. Thurday I had my last pre-op appointment. I found out I actually have to do a 2 week liquid diet. Booo! I had already geeked myself up for 1 week now I have to give myself another pep talk. Ha! Of course I have a graduation party ? and a BBQ during those two weeks? I'm definitely ready to get this show on the road. June 2nd is my pre surgical appt. with the anesthesiologist.

My Dr. recommends I take 4 weeks off. That will give me a chance to get my eating together and quite frankly I'm looking forward to the break from work? How long are some of you planning to be out off work?

So guys the scale is moving down yay. Also I should have surgery in August. I'm super duper excited.

My surgeon recommends 4-6 weeks. I am planning on 4 but if my doctor says 6 that is what I will do. I took 4 after my hysterectomy and I was still tired when I came back.

Hello Everyone- so glad to find this group. I am hoping to get approved for a summer surgery as I am a school teacher. I will have my last of the 6 required dietician visits June 23 and by then I should have all the other hurdles jumped! Had my psych eval which was no big deal and am just waiting for the cardio appt. June 18. THen my paper work can be sent in for approval. I am worried that my borderline numbers will keep me out. Anyone in Rhode Island or CT?

Thank you! I don't.. I think i'm more of a read a book, sleep, write type person ?

soooooo having a date and having all prerequisites complete is different than actually getting the insurance approval in the mail!!!!! yikesers! its really y'all!!!!!!!! may 31...great way to end may!

I figure with all the twist and turn of my journey I am between 2/3 and 7/8 completed so let's see what this Thursday May24 has to tell me about the completion. I promise to stop jumping up and down like a demented pogo stick,if SOMEONE will give me a definite date. Been a long time coming ????
