  1. Hi All! I finally got my surgery date- Sept. 14. HOORAY! Any one out there with September surgery?
  2. Your wisdom is inspiring! In terms of your mindset- obviously- you got this! Strong women rock! What is your eating like right now? I keep trying to do a liquid diet for two meals and small protein dinner, just to get my self ready and heading in the right direction - but I keep slipping up.
  3. congrats on your date! Hope your wait goes quickly. Any thing you are doing to prepare yourself?

    Today is surgery day!!

Congrats on reaching your day! All your hard work so far has brought you here. Be strong and keep up the good fight! You got this!!
  5. Good Morning! Has anyone else been journaling to help stay on track? I have recently discovered the "Bullet Journal" trend. I am thinking this practice may really help me - not just with the weight loss but my other goals to be organized and use my time effectively. Tons of great ideas on line have gotten me inspired!
  6. Thanks! I am approved! On August 2 I will have my 2nd appt. and get my surgery date! I can NOT wait. Just had an appointment with bone and joint dr. My knees are in bad shape - osteo arthritis. Just one more confirmation that I am doing the right thing. Do you know when you will have surgery?
  7. Congrats on your weight loss so far. How are you feeling?
  8. Frustr8 Did you get your day yet? I have my consult Aug. 2. Really wanted to get surgery done early August so I would be ready to start the school year with no days off.
  9. You do look great! Congratulations! I am waiting to get my surgery scheduled. I am 5'5 and have about the same amount of weight to lose relative to my height- so you have inspired me and given me hope that in a year I might feel as great as you! THanks!
  10. Has anyone gone to Roger Williams in Providence for their surgery? What was you impression?
  11. Thanks so much! I am having it done at Roger Williams in RI- they are actually the closest center for excellence for me. So happy I will be joining the ranks of the losers!!!
  12. I just got a letter from my insurance co. informing me that I was approved for the surgery. So happy! Just waiting on the Dr. to catch up and schedule me for for a consultation and then the surgery. So anxious to get started on a healthier me!

    Ode to loose skin

This is an excellent poem! Your sense of sound is artful- especially appreciated the lines Every sagging absence of fat Where my angular clavicles slant Thanks for the poetic pep talk! I just got approved and am waiting on my date and the sags with great anticipation. UK HOOK 5 6 H
  14. That's good to hear. It helps knowing what people with similar starting points are experiencing. It sounds like you have a great outlook! Keep up the good work!
  15. Thanks for asking this question and for all the replies. I've been wondering (obsessing, perseverating, researching) the same question. I am 5' 5" and am at 225 right now BMI 37 I have pre diabetes and borderline hbp, and bad joint pain, sleep apnea.
  16. Wow - Kevin you have done great! You reached your goal so soon! Congrats. The support group I attend has people that have taken several months to be able to tolerate much food. Maybe time will improve that for you. Keep up the good fight!
  17. The waiting is the Hardest part.....I suppose until the next step. anyone have Anthem BCBS of CT? I am a school teacher. I am at 37 BMI and I have sleep apnea and am prediabetic. I had acl surgery last year and walking is painful- my classroom is on the third floor and by the time I get up there I sound like I'm going to die breathing like I ran a marathon. I so want this surgery to help me get back in shape and able to be active but I am so nervous I will be denied! Anyone have similar stats and get approved by Anthem?
  18. Hey Finally, I think we are pretty close stats wise - have you been approved yet? I am so nervous that I won't be approved by anthem. I have a BMi of 37 and only 1 official comorbidity - but I have lots of almost issues. I want so badly to get this help to get back to me - (stole your tag!) I just turned 52 in April. Keep me posted on your progress! I would love to compare notes with someone similar!
  19. Hey Ladybabs - I am 52 and waiting to see if Insurance will cover my bypass. I also live in CT. Best of luck with your surgery!

    August bypassers/sleevers

I am anxiously awaiting approval from insurance - Anthem BCBS of CT. They said it could be two weeks from now before I hear. UGH how can I wait? So worried they won't approve me!
  21. So I realize this is probably really wrong headed of me- but I keep thinking about the "Last time" - as in "This is the last time I can indulge". At Christmas I was thinking this will be the last time I eat short bread and pumpkin pie. This will be my last birthday cake. I may as well have wine and cheese and crackers tonight because soon I won't be able to eat this stuff anymore. Has anyone else been struggling with this?

    Food Funerals?

I really do think I'm sort of addicted to food. I just need to get addicted to water and exercise and I'll be great!

    Food Funerals?

That's interesting. I'm not sure which way I'll fall out on. I have a feeling I might just have to stay away from lots of things.
