MACPOWER are you up and motivating yet? Figure so, you're only an hour behind me. Another Football-type joke. Man says to Football Coach" I have a very talented horse. Why I think you could use him as a place kicker! "

Coach "Oh yeah? Show me !"

Man tees up football, horse turns around and kicks it 100 yards.

Coach "Wow that is impressive. Tell me, can he also run?"

Man "Listen if he could run I wouldn't be wasting time talking to you. I'd have entered him in the Kentucky Derby by now!"

Hey is Ak Sar Ben still in business? Just wondering. Somebody told me it is not a horse track any more and has been turned into a concert venue. One more quickie

Why do some Big Ten football fields have artificial turf?

Answer: The cheerleaders graze natural grass too short!

Go make like a sumo-----lift a couple100s in my honor![emoji123][emoji123][emoji123]

My surgery date is April 11th! Excited and nervous. It's been a long wait since my first appointment back in August of last year. Now I just need to survive this pre op liquid diet!

It's... going. Not fun but it gets easier after the first couple days. Haven't cheated yet and not planning on it. How's yours going? They told me I should lose around 10lbs on the pre op diet, I'm kind of worried about that since I haven't seen a big drop yet despite not cheating, but there's still a week to go at least.

Origin** your body is hoping you're aren't serious, that you'll relent and give it back the goodies it wants. So it's kinda sitting there hoping to wait you out, not willing to give up those lovely pounds you put there. The medical term for status quo is homeostasis, your body was happier with the weight you were at than you were. Maybe in a few days a little weight will get released, maybe not but if you are following your surgeon's guidance, not cheating in any way, things are going to be fine[emoji3]

Mine is going ok...I have a Wife and two boys. They are all skinny people who can always eat whatever they want! So being around them is kinda hard when they eat their meals. But my Wife has been very good at trying to keep food and smells away from me, so I’m not too tortured! HaHa!

The only thing Iv cheated with is Dill Pickles. But I asked my surgeon yesterday and he said Dill Pickles are fine! So I guess I’m not cheating. So every time I get a strong hunger I eat a pickle and it does the job for me.

My weight loss has been CRAZY!!! I was weighed in my doctors office last Monday and I weighed 475 lbs. I got weighed again yesterday in the same doctors office and weighed 439 lbs. Iv been drinking 4-5 Protein Shakes a day with two scoops of Protein. And Iv also been drinking a gallon of Water every day! But I still lift weights every day...So that’s probably the extra boost I’m getting in weight loss. Iv been so worried about losing muscle and strength after my surgery.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
