Non Scale Victories

I just realized no longer have to worry about accidentally collapsing my ladder under my weight. I bought it without knowing the weight limit until I got it home and was taking the risks every time I used it.

I actually have a medical restriction at work that states I am not allowed to use any ladders that are not rated for greater than 350 pounds. I always check to make sure it will hold me, but it is strange that it is a restriction on my record. When that is removed, it will be both an NSV and a scale victory!

Had a few over the long weekend.

Wore a dress for a wedding for the first time in 12 years and it was a smidge to big.

I’m also at the omg I need tops that aren’t totally baggy stage. Ended up buying a few in size 14/16. I was floored.

It was also the first time I’d seen any family since my surgery. I haven’t told anyone who I don’t live near and got total support. Mentally I knew that was going to happen but it was still a huge thing for me to be up front about.

Today I was able to wrap a standard size towel around all of me after my shower today. I can't remember the last time I was able to do that. I am super happy about this NSV.

I haven't had surgery yet, but this is one of the things I'm really looking forward to!

Awesome! Congrats to both of you!

I'm at the point where all my clothes have become so big and baggy I can no longer pull them off and look professional. I've been moving down sizes in slacks and jeans, but held off on shirts and dresses.

I found two dresses that I absolutely love, and look f*cking amazing on me, in my not so humble opinion. :D

Oh and they are size 12! :o

Holy crap! That's awesome! You must have a great waist for that style to flatter you!

I had to buy a seat cushion to use with my computer chair at work. My noassatall disease has completely caught up with me and my butt hurts! It wasn't very fluffy before and now it's downright scrawny!

Lol .. thanks! I do have a good hip/waist proportion. It's just the stupid tummy below my waist I hate. These dresses do a good job of hiding that. I can't wait till I have my Tummy Tuck and don't have to worry about tummy camoflage!

I was able to borrow my sister Victoria's secret bra while my clothing was washing at her house, ordering naked /unwrapped burgers, dancing loops around guys in clubs, putting my nieces HUGE suitcases on the bus for them, someone saying omg look at your biceps, getting hugs and being called tiny now, little boys thinking I'm their age because I'm child sized now lol

Glad I put my bifocals on, I thought for a minute you were running around naked clad only,in your sister's Victoria Secret Bra. Worried you were in line for a Vice Raid! Glad to see it was only, the burgers that were naked! WHEW!

My wedding ring fits again! Haven't been able to wear it for almost 2 years!

I was determined that I was going to resize myself instead of the ring. 2 months out from surgery, the ring is tight but it will get better.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
