Solid Food Transistion

Recommended Posts

Hi All! I'm new and haven't seen too much of a communication... maybe a m not posting right... Anyways, I'm 3 days into solid and I feel terrible. I just can't help but feel like I'm doing it all wrong and should just go back to liquid!

I was sleeved on 8/22/2017 and have lost a total of 45 pounds in 6 weeks... it's been hard along the way... not taking down Protein, extra stay in the hospital and worse 3 weeks of Constipation but this solid food is just making me feel the worse.... I constantly feel the need to vomit 🤢

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated!

Take it slow, 1 ounce at a time.

Do not mix foods. Try one thing alone, wait see how it sits, then eat more.

Don't worry about solid food just eat a bite or two then walk away. you will not starve. Try to increase your Water intake. if need be put a 64 oz clear container in the fridge every day and make sure you drink it all. as the previous poster stated just eat 1 item and make sure it is very well chewed. Make sure you are taking your supplements as directed. it will pass and i am sorry you are having such a rough go at it.

My surgery was 8/29, and I said the same thing you did about rather I was posting correctly to get replies because I wasnt:0( but was still able to read up on other experience 's to get the just of it all. I have only lost 23lbs and I'm am now at my 6wk po-op , my start weight was 244lbs and did not loose pre-op.
I was only on the liquid diet for a week though. I have gotten sick when I was first able to eat solids because I was eating to big of bites and to fast.
So I started a game with my daughter who eats way to fast anyways, and we count to 20 to chew and use a toddler fork or spoon to eat with and don't get up from table untill 20-30 minutes of eating time. This has really helped me out personally. Contact me anytime if you want, looks like our surgery dates are only a,week apart.

Also I don't get sick as much anymore, I believe I was trying to eat way to much as well because I couldn't figure out that feeling full everyone was talking about. That's why I take 30 minutes to eat so I can feel that fullness and smaller bites as well.

Thank you all for all of your advice... I appreciate it. As for all the nausea it’s been rough and my nausea pills have come in handy! But I’m definitely going to try smaller bites. I’ve increased my bite gap by 15 minutes instead of every ten minutes. And I’m still blending fruit with my Protein Shakes which helps a lot more than before.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
