I'm scared to eat I don't want to stretch my stomach

I haven't done the research so I could be totally wrong but I really don't think it happens unless you're severely overeating for its size. Someone else can tell me if I'm wrong and i can do research tonight when I'm bored but I just don't think it happens if you behave.

I want to go back to the gym, but I forgot to ask my Dr when I'm allowed too. So just walking for now.

I haven't weighed myself but I know I was in a stall for almost 2 weeks. Then, out of nowhere, I can't wear my pants! They fall off! Woohoo!!!

I'm still struggling with feeling icky and not getting enough fluids. It's a bad cycle bc I don't want to eat or drink bc I feel icky but feel even worse if I don't eat or drink. I went to a really nice restaurant the other night and they were wonderful with helping me. I'm on soft foods right now so they made me a 4 ounce side of crab salad and half of avocado. Though I did get a little nauseated, after it passed, I felt like a million bucks! There's something to be said about real protein! I couldn't eat more than 1/3 but man, what I was able to eat made me feel so good! I had energy! Though I know this is the case if I eat, I still struggle daily. I'm going to call the bariatric nurse tomorrow and talk to her about what to do. IMG_6094.JPG

Has anyone started exercising? Besides walking

I usually pay a boatload for unlimited interval classes but I can't do it for 3 more weeks so I'm joining LA fitness to do light weights and other types of cardio. I find walking to be so boring. I actually go to the mall to get steps in and some days reach almost 10k, which is about 4 miles.

I need exercise so bad but doc said 6 weeks no more than 10 lbs even though my spoiled dog (28 lbs) made me lift her starting my first night home from surgery.

I had my two-week post-op today and I get to move on to soft foods! We even scheduled my six-week check, for Friday the 13th of October!

Well, I'm going to be lacing up my roller derby skates, putting on my roller derby pads and my roller derby helmet...

... To be a freaking NSO (Non-Skating Official). Seriously, even though my surgeon thinks that I should be fine to be in the rink with the rest of my teammates, I think he's nuts. I went to a support group the night before the surgery and Dr. Roller (one of the other surgeons in the practice) said he thinks I should wait six weeks before any contact sport and you know what? I kinda agree with him on this. I've seen enough incidents on the track to know that I'd rather be an NSO right now and ease back into derby.

I'm two weeks post op laproscopic VSG today. Down 10.3 pounds. liquid diet which is mostly Protein Drinks, proti- drinks Soups, some regular smooth liquid soups - so a liquid diet with a goal of 85 gram of Protein and 64 oz of Water. And the Vitamins.

Its easy to stick to because I get full easy, VERY easy, I've lost a little off 10 lbs.

My surgeon prefer liquid diet for the first post op month. Then you graduate to soft foods. I'm not there yet.

I was tired. But once I started walking more I felt better.

I'm waiting for sundown to get ~3,600 more steps in to reach 10,000 today. I'm going to make it my personal mission to get 10,000 steps every day this month.

That's awesome! I've gotten 10k a few times since surgery but walking is so boring. I literally go to the mall, 3rd street promenade, wherever just to get steps in till I can lift weight. My dog is a smooshy faced breed and can't walk 4 miles or I'd just walk her.

Yeah, I'm really thinking about exploring more of Fort Collins and Loveland while I have this time off, as I have already seen a lot of Boulder and the other cities south of me.

Liquid gabapentin is like **** directly from satans ass hole. I take all my meds in solid pill form just over a long period of time.

Still no poo [emoji23] on day three of Miralax. Contemplating the murder and BBQ of my adorable dog.

@KateBruin

Reading this is funny, the visual is hilarious.

Week 3 post op and I haven't lost anything for 5 days. I'm trying to be positive and logically I know weight loss isn't linear but I want to see these damn scales move!

On the plus side went to the gym for the first time since surgery, just lifted very very light weight (5kg). I thought it couldn't hurt.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
