I second the parm crisps. I'm doing Keto ( or trying too very new to the program) but it's a great Protein packed no carb snack that gives you crunch and salt like a chip but much better. I think just 6- 10 crisp are like 10 grams of protein.





You can also make your own with shredded cheese in the oven on parchment paper or even in the microwave. Experiment with timing. Pepperoni also makes "chips" same way. And Sargento ultra think cheese slices work too!

@southernbellair79 I heard Keto is tough for bariatric patients being that Protein has to be our main priority and to try our best to limit fat. I think early on we are all in ketosis just in nature with our low calorie and no carb intake. I could be wrong, don't know much on it. My wife is running a keto diet and said that too much protein can even turn into carbs if your macros aren't inline.

Long story short. Parm crisps are amazing.

High Protein and low carb AND low fat is extraordinarily unsustainable (ever heard of rabbit starvation?). It's what the preop diet had to be to get that liver down.

Postop, as long as we meet our protein goals and calorie goals, the rest is up to us and our plan. Keto, balanced low carb, vegan-ish.. all of them can work, so we have some freedom to pick and choose.

I'm not gonna argue, but, I would re-think the sugar free Jello and sf pudding. Empty calories, I would think. And then your body thinks it's gonna get filled up on something but it doesn't and that may lead to more hunger. Not everyone with WLS loses hunger. And I believe most get hunger back anyways.

Also, your trainer doesn't understand WLS. He sees your size and automatically thinks you need this much calories/macronutrients. So listening to him, might not be the best thing.

Dr. Duc Vuong is on Facebook and has free videos that are good. Look him up. He performs sleeves and if you aren't getting support from your clinic, watching his videos may help.

@AZBlackhawk Assumptions on my weight loss team I have around me isnt accurate... My trainer is fully aware of my situation.

Also the sugar free jello/pudding holds me over until I can eat full solids which starts in a week and a half. I'm sick of Jello. But its something 5cal/50cal to tie me over when I have that craving. Not concerned about that. But thanks for you input.

I'm hungry all the time. I have been lucky to be able to eat solids since day 4, as per my program, but I still get hungry after like 2-4 hours, depending on what I eat. I could never go half a day without eating.

At 6 weeks I got cleared to eat everything, and first thing I tried was salty licorice (favorite). I have tried different things, some has failed (dairy based ice cream is a big no no), some, no problem.

My surgeon/NUT team state again and again that I'm no longer on a diet. I should focus on Protein, the rest is up to me. And in order to get my protein in, I'm not able to eat a ton of carbs and sugar, but I still have some. This past weekend I had sushi for the first time, a whole 5 small maki. I just made sure my protein for the rest of the day was good. I'll be 5 months out on Sunday.

@tuplumupluu some days are better than others for Water. Largely because I don't carry it with me. I miss being able to intake lots in one sitting

@dreamingsmall there is a reason diets are a multi billion dollar industry. The failure rate is so high because people lack common sense, will power and disciple. And I would say 99% of us in this forum has been there or is there as well given our circumstances.

At the end of the day this surgery is a reset on life. Being able to get healthy by using this tool and then to live NORMALLY. Which is my end goal.

Hi, got a question...It takes 3-4 years to get a consultation in Canada? Can you explain?
I had heard that Canada had a socialist medical system, but it seem ridiculous to have to wait that long to get medical help. Sorry you had to go to Mexico and pay out of pocket just so that you can start to get healthy, but glad you didn't wait.
I live in the US in Pennsylvania. It only took me a few weeks to get an initial appointment, 4 months to get through pre-op requirements, then 2 days to get approval from my insurance (but already knew they would approve before I even started all of this), then two weeks later had my surgery - now 1 week out from being sleeved. If I had to wait 3-4 more years just to get started, I don't know how much heavier I would be or even still alive. Good Luck with your weight lost journey and in starting a family.


Yeah I'm with you... wow. That's a long wait. My process from first consult to surgery was 6 months. I'm in LA, CA.

And I like what your surgeon told you. 😉 I like to think of myself NOT going with the flow; it's pretty freeing for me. In fact, I'm reminded, now that I'm posting this, I don't recall the last time I logged or thought about what I've been eating. IMO, that's freedom. I understand if some don't have the discipline or whatever and need to log and count, I do not look down upon them. I do not think myself superior in any way, I've just found freedom in what I do for myself and I hope many others can and will too.

What also helps is that I have chosen a lifestyle of health that makes it really hard to eat bad or gain weight, a Whole Foods plant based diet. 🥒🍏🥕😁

If you're successful with the advice your treatment team is giving you then don't bother with the diet fetishes of other users.

The concept of moderation has been lost to us for so long (preop), that without guidelines and parameters telling what moderation IS... of course we're lost!

Yesterday my 17 year old daughter and I sat down and formulated a 1500 calorie diet for her. (Her BMI is around 31.5).

Breakfast: 7oz sweet potato with a little butter

Lunch: salad with fruit and nuts and 1oz ranch dressing

Snack: 2 eggs and fresh bell pepper

Dinner: 4oz meat, 1 cup black Beans, green beans

She'll have 150 calories to spend on milk and honey for her tea.

If/when she needs more calories, she can add a few grains.

Without creating a plan like this, she eats 4 pieces of pizza or 2 large plates of spaghetti or 2 bowls of Cereal, etc. Same as I did at her age.

Preop, I would have discussions with her, but I really didn't know what the right thing WAS for her to do, and I didn't want to screw up her metabolism or start her on the yo yo dieting path, so I was clear that she shouldn't change anything.

Now, 5 months postop, and I now KNOW what to do.. and it is such a wonderful feeling! She knows that she'll have to watch what she eats forever, same as any of us.

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
